Re: mapping/redirect mystery

2013-12-02 Thread Russ Michaels

turns out it required a custom 404 page, which runs the whole site, kinda
odd.
if the old host had a control panel this prob have been much easier to
solve :-)
another host getting rid of CF sadly .

Advice about merging into certificates and outputting to pdf

2013-12-02 Thread Nick Gleason

Hi All,
First, happy thanksgiving to everyone (who is celebrating that holiday).
Second, a quick question. We're developing a basic certificates feature in
our event tool. The idea is that you register for an event, attend the
event, and then get a certificate (most likely pdf) for the event.
In creating the certificate, we have been provided with some word document
templates. My expectation is that the output would need to be in PDF
format. We will need to merge in the name of the person attending as well
as the date and perhaps a few other fields.
We have done some template merging and output to pdfs using CF Report
Builder in the past so I was thinking about that. However, given CF's
built in PDF tools, I'm assuming there are good ways to build this feature
without CF Report Builder.
If any of you have been down this road and have suggestions, I'm definitely
interested. I know that there is a lot out there on PDF features (I have
the WACKs), but am looking for some guidance on a best practice for this
kind of feature.
Thanks in advance!
Nick

RE: per application settings

2013-12-02 Thread Eric Roberts

No...I wasn't the installer. But as far as I know it is a pretty standard
install. This is on a Solaris box...using apache...no rewites to the best
of my knowledge..

That is, basically, the bottom line. It could be either of those, but we
can't move the answer forward unless we identify which.

If it *is* actually behaving the way you claim, then there is something
about your config you have not told us, Eric, because CF - out of the box -
simply does not work the way you're suggesting. That's the long and the
short of it.

Can you post full config details of your server somewhere, Eric? Was it you
who installed it? Did you do _anything_ other than install apache, install
CF, run the connector between the two? Anything at all. Do not think that
anything is inconsequential or irrelevant.

In this scenario the browser makes two requests. 1) to a cfm page and 2) to
a png file.

Application.cfc is only executed on the cfm page request.

Re: mapping/redirect mystery

2013-12-02 Thread Byron Mann

The isapi_redirect could maybe have a rewrite rule. Maybe the host has a
handler for each site, and there is a custom rule in the configuration.

http://tomcat.apache.org/connectors-doc/reference/iis.html, see the bottom.
Think this applies to Apache as well.
