Hi Scott, yep that looks like a 'custom tag'. You might find there's also a
matching end tag, ie:
CF_SOME_TAG_NAME
/CF_SOME_TAG_NAME
If so, this goes some way to explaining your problem, You can't put a
cfflush in between them (because the custom tag controls the content between
the tags).
If not, well you've moved on anyhow :)

Hi,
I don't know the proper name for it.
Its a bunch of code that get called from multiple spots in the
application, hence it is inside a single file and called via
CF_SOME_TAG_NAME variablename=somevalue
Meanwhile, I have removed the cfsilent's and will re-look at the problem
after we upgrade to cf8.
Thanks for all replies.

@Andrew - actually it won't because he said it was a function (not a tag)
:P
When I see a question like this (posted at 9:22am) with no follow up, I
assume he worked it out. Is that a fair assumption? Scott, come back and
finish what you started :)

Chris that will not matter, all that is going to do is run the template

Is the cf_call_a_user_defined_function new to the page?
Try:-
cf_call_a_user_defined_function /
