Re: [cfaussie] Re: ColdFusion Builder Workspace Refreshing

2010-11-28 Thread Barry Chesterman
I have my Workspace config set to 'Build automatically' enabled and 'refresh
automatically' and 'save automatically before build' disabled with no
problems like you are reporting.

Something else you can try if performance is not great is set 'Display
Syntax Errors Only on File Save' to enabled (in Coldfusion Editor Profiles
Editor Syntax Checking). that way it is not trying to syntax check
everything every time you type a letter.

Also, are your files network shared, or local?
I had an issue where a switch I was connected to was faulty and it caused my
network to be fairly slow, Coldfusion Builder took forever to do refreshes.

Regards
Barry.

Fair enough, Steve. So again, let's keep moving forward: are you sure you're

 nothing in

Also, are you sure that you're not running low on heap? Have you enabled the

Everything? I'll assume you mean what's been mentioned on the list to this
point. :-)
So was the heap monitor showing high memory use? It may not. Just not clear
from your
answers.

Perhaps more helpful, I have a few more troubleshooting suggestions that I
offer in my
hidden gems in CFBuilder talk (which I gave at cfobjective(anz)). You can
find it
online at http://carehart.org/presentations/#cfbgems. See the troubleshooting
slides
starting at slide 26-30, especially slides 27 and 28.

[cfaussie] Re: ColdFusion Builder Workspace Refreshing

2010-11-15 Thread Carl
Hi Steve,

I see there is CF builder update1 available, it brings the version to
1.0.0.271911 . If not already done perhaps you can apply.

I have noticed forums mention CF builder is slow on MAC (which
typically I do not use) however I have not paid much attention to the
details. You did not mention the operating system.

CF builder is java based. Perhaps it did not install and provide
adequate resources for JVM arguments so you could check the Xmx,
MaxPermSize etc in CFBuilder.ini.

HTH, Carl.

Build Automatically (under Project on the menu) is ticked, the same

2010-11-15 Thread Sean Corfield
OK, I cracked open the progress view and I actually *do* see build /
refresh occurring but they happen so fast I normally don't see the
progress message - and it also looks like they don't happen
continuously if I type fast - there's a pause between them so I might
get just two or three build / refresh cycles per line of code.

So, yes, you seem to be right but I don't find it slows Eclipse down
for me (2.8GHz quad core with 8GB RAM).

I'll ping Adam / Terry @ Adobe and get them to provide input on this
thread - including the impact of turning off the automatic build /
refresh.
