But Jeremy, I had asked which email address you sent to. You had said, "I
sent an email as I was having issues with setting it up, and to date still
didn't get a response back." Was it indeed the [EMAIL PROTECTED]
address? I've sent several messages over the past few days (not problems,
just little suggestions of things they could improve) and they've been very
responsive; and equally so when I did raise a problem once. So I'm just
really surprised by your experience.

Everything I've gotten from them (from the site, to the docs, to the
products) has suggested to me that they want very much to impress you and
serve you. I honestly think they'd be very disappointed to hear of your
experience and would want to understand what went wrong.

Just trying to help.

Dunno Guys,

Seriously I REALLY wanted it to work. But it just doesn't with my CFC's.
What we are doing with CFC's are pretty heavy, so it may be code related.
But I would hope not. As for there response time, you have to signup giving
your email address correctly so I would hope they still have it.

Look if they give a product thats good I'll rant and rave about it, but if
its crap I'll tell it how it is!

People do it to me all the timetell my app is crap that is!

2006-08-17 Thread Charlie Arehart

Wow, they've been very responsive to me. Are you sending to the support
address ([EMAIL PROTECTED])? If not, maybe there's another you
found and they have a problem of getting email to that. (And they're human:
even if you found what you use in someplace that they said to use it, it
could just be some glitch.)

As for problems debugging, I have to admit I did too, and they offered to
work with me over a shared desktop (I have access to a couple of
approaches), but I had to set it aside temporarily. I do have high hopes for
it, and if it works, I have to wonder if Adobe will bother. So I think it's
better to work with them (if one can be patient through the initial
release), to make it the best it can be. I can't imagine Adobe would give
away whatever they might build if they did, so I think we'll have to pay for
debugging one way or another. (I could be wrong, of course. I have no idea
about their plans for debugging.)

Just my two cents...I wouldn't pay 2cents for this pile 'o' crap. I sent an
email as I was having issues with setting it up, and to date still didn't
get a response back. I figured it out in the end, but the support was simply
not there.

I got it up and running and it only worked with .cfm pages that had code in
it when I tried to use it with some more "advanced code" (i.e.
invoking cfc's) its freaked out and didn't do anything. I would assume that
it would read that code as well.

Think I will wait for Adobe to bring out there one.

Jeremy
p.s. I want my two cents back now.

Jeremy,

I logged a bug email and also got no response, very disappointing. It is
making me reconsider buying 4 copies of this. All they needed to do was
respond with a ticket number.

As for the problems you have, I have not had these problems and can step
through cfc's etc.

2006-08-15 Thread Dale Fraser

I used to use the CF5 debugger, it was ok, but one
major problem that affected us at the time was it didn’t support stepping
into custom tags, and our whole application was just a whole lot of custom
tags.

Ahh the good old days.

Re: FusionDebug Released

Hey, Gary, yes, I will put up a hand and
say I do remember the CFStudio debugging prior to CFMX and did get it to work.
In fact, I used to give user group talks on it. There were issues, and times it
didn't work. The bigger problem was simply that the feature was so hidden in
Studio that most never found it. I made this very point to MM at the time, but
they just felt that "no one uses it"--which to me was a chicken and
egg problem. But support was dropped in MX, and of course now you have many in
the CF community proudly saying, "we don't need no stinkin'
debuggers". Seems a shame.

Sure, we can use CFOUTPUT, CFUMP, CFTRACE,
CFLOG, and so on, but for some apps, there's nothing like a step debugger (or
if we just had a trace tool to show where code went, like BD added with its
incorrectly named CFDEBUGGER tag, which writes a file of the filenames, line
numbers, and tags for all CFML lines in a request, and I've recommended that to
the FD guys.)

Speaking of FD, and Dale's blog
entry  he mentioned below, I'll note that I've added some comments there
that those exploring the debugger may appreciate.

One of them was that, as you ask here
about some things you wish it did, I've found the guys at Fusion-reactor to be
EXTREMELY open to feedback, so share your comments with them. Cheers. And
surely as others explore it they'll here more and more such things. I sense
they're very responsive and will address any issues quickly.

Hi all

Has any one else got the Debug Eclipse package to work, I have! and I
must say I am quite impressed.

I must be as I raerly take time to reply to posts.

Does any one else remember that CFStudio vr 4.5 and 5 had debug tools,
did any one ever get them to work?

My only complaint with this debug tool after a quick look is that
Queries and Objects are not shown intuitively, if the inventor is out there,
even just an icon change would be good. I am being picky though.

Ill
be recommending we use it here at Morgans, not that that will mean we get it
though LOL.
