Thanks Sharon, I was wondering when and where there would be hazardous waste collection! Sent from my Windows Phone From: Sharon L. Guida Sent: 9/6/2013 12:43 PM To: Charles Village Subject: [Chat] Dispose of Hazardous Waste this weekend Are you looking to dispose of any of the following hazardous materials? •Oil-based paints (latex paint is not hazardous and can be thrown out normally) •Pesticides •Herbicides •Car or household batteries •Drain cleaners •Gasoline •Pool chemicals These items, among many others, are all hazardous materials and they must be disposed of properly. Dangerous to our health and/or to the environment, these materials should not be thrown out with your normal trash. Baltimore City will be collecting hazardous waste on Friday, September 6th, and Saturday, September 7th. If you are looking to dispose of any of those materials, now is your chance. Unfortunately, certain items cannot be collected by this program including asbestos, ammunition, fire extinguishers, industrial and medical wastes, and radioactive materials like smoke alarms with a radioactive symbol. Hazardous waste disposal is a service provided only to Baltimore City residents. Residents must show proof of residency and must be able to identify the item/s they are disposing. Additionally, businesses and private haulers cannot use this service and must contact a certified vendor to dispose of any hazardous wastes. Hazardous waste drop-offs will be held: Friday, September 6th Saturday, September 7th 9:00am – 5:00pm Northwest Citizens Convenience Center 2840 Sisson St Baltimore, MD 21265 Future drop-off days: Friday, October 4th Saturday, October 5th 9:00am – 5:00pm ___ Chat mailing list Chat@charlesvillage.info http://charlesvillage.info/mailman/listinfo/chat_charlesvillage.info archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/chat@charlesvillage.info/___ Chat mailing list Chat@charlesvillage.info http://charlesvillage.info/mailman/listinfo/chat_charlesvillage.info archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/chat@charlesvillage.info/

Hello all, I am writing to see if anyone knows of an apartment in the Charles Village area that is currently available. The Mongolian student will be staying only until the end of June. It's much more than a liquor store, very convenient, and quite well run. I would advocate for keeping it as a long-standing asset to Charles Village. The owners are responsive to their customers (more so than the liquor store on St. Paul). When I've requested a particular item, the Schnapp Shoppe has gotten it in. On my way walking home from work, I can stop there for milk, a can of beans, or other necessities. Yes, they sell liquor, but I consider them a convenience store. When I attended a meeting about the new zoning plan, they emphasized that a goal was mixed use, so 1st-floor stores and apartments above would be encouraged. The idea supposedly is to create a good environment for urban living (for people without cars), with a dynamic streetscape that does not separate residences and businesses serving residents. To my mind, the Schnapp Shoppe answers that goal and should remain as it is. Linda Joshua Fruhlinger jf...@jfruh.com 6/23/2012 12:13 PM It means that, if the Schnapp Shop didn't exist and a new store at that location tried to get a liquor license, it wouldn't be granted. But the existing store was grandfathered in because it acquired a liquor license before the current laws went into effect (in the '70s, I believe. The law probably doesn't allow liquor stores in completely residential areas like the Schnapp Shop anymore. The story we heard is that a man returned home to find an intruder who attacked and stabbed him multiple times. Police arrived about 10 minutes after the 911 call. I saw them wheel the man away on a stretcher. He was conscious and lifted his head. I could see blood on his legs. Somebody heard him joke that he thinks he won't be going to work tomorrow. Guilford at 31st is taped off as a crime scene and the police just asked everyone to go inside. Nobody we talked to saw the attacker. We have a friend who moved next door just a week ago. Re: [Chat] roofer needed
There is a great roofer who actually lives at 3010 Barclay St.Hisphone number is410-371-8090 I can't remember what his name is though, I think that it is Adrian. I am not sure if he does rubber roofing but he certainly told me that he knew someone who did. Also, I had a "cool roof" installed last year. The reason that I contacted them was the fact that they won the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Ethical business practices and they are local. I thought "This is great--finally I can do business with someone that I can trust. One problem was that they quoted me a price of $75,000.00 which is way above my league. Fick also quoted a new roof for my home in Reisterstown, which they quoted $45,000.00. I had it done for $7,500.00. The company that did my home did a great job but does not do flat roofs, sorry to say. FYI: The rubber roof is the way to go. The white is a coating that is applied after the roof is replaced. Who ever you come up with, go on line to www.baltimore.bbb.org (Better Business Bureau) to see if the roofer has any complaints filed against them. Good Luck Richard Burnham Graphic Imaging, Inc. Re: [Chat] Crime update
Just a message, a plea,to all concerning crime in our area. As a community, we need to make sure a police report is filed for each incidence. I know that it is time consuming and actually some officers are reluctant to volunteer to fill out police reports, but to get a better idea of what is really happening in our community we need to be more conscientious about insiting on police reports being filed. Re: [Chat] police reports
Hello all, You know how the benefit district handed out refrigerator magnets at the meeting. I was wondering if we could put emergency contactinformation andhelpful tips (step by step how to)on how to interact moreeffectivelywith the police on a magnet and distribute it throughout the community. Any idea how much that would cost. I'm thinking something around 3 by 5. I think that a little community education could benefit the crime reporting and improve our understanding of the crime stats in our area. Possibly we could contact the JHU Security and they would be willing to share cost and distribute them to students at orientation as well. I suggest a magnet because I can never find a piece of paper in my house when I really need it.
