If true, that is as good as any reason to work to defeat McCain. Phil
Gramm is the most incompetent and obnoxious politician I've ever known.

the same treatment as United States banks."
The Times further reports that two of the biggest foreign banks in

John McCain's top economics advisor, who is widely believed to be his

Gramm is both vice chairman of UBS's US division and a lobbyist for UBS.

[cia-drugs] false allegations of child sexual abuse by children are rare

false allegations of child sexual abuse by children are rare

How often do children’s reports of abuse turn out to be false? Research has
consistently shown that false allegations of child sexual abuse by children
are rare. Jones and McGraw examined 576 consecutive referrals of child sexual
abuse to the Denver Department of Social Services, and categorized the reports
as either reliable or fictitious. In only 1% of the total cases were
children judged to have advanced a fictitious allegation. Jones, D. P. H., and
J. M.
McGraw: Reliable and Fictitious Accounts of Sexual Abuse to Children.Journal
of Interpersonal Violence, 2, 27-45, 1987. In a more recent study,
investigators reviewed case notes of all child sexual abuse reports to the
Denver
Department of Social Services over 12 months. Of the 551 cases reviewed, there
were only 14 (2.5%) instances of erroneous concerns about abuse emanating from
children. These consisted of three cases of allegations made in collusion
with a parent, three cases where an innocent event was misinterpreted as
sexual
abuse and eight cases (1.5%) of false allegations of sexual abuse. Oates, R.
K., D.P. Jones, D. Denson, A. Sirotnak, N. Gary, and R.D. Krugman: Erroneous
Concerns about Child Sexual Abuse. Child Abuse & Neglect 24:149-57,

Abuse
Experienced - Research with children whose sexual abuse has been proven has
shown
that children tend to minimize and deny abuse, not exaggerate or over-report
such incidents. _http://www.leadershipcouncil.org/1/res/csa-acc.html_

RICHARD A. GARDNER:

IN HIS OWN WORDS

(PAS founder)

"At the present time, the sexually abused child is generally considered to
be the victim," though the child may initiate sexual encounters by 'seducing'
the adult."

Gardner, Richard A., Child Custody Litigation (1986), p.93

Sexualizing children can have procreative purposes, because a sexualized
child is more likely to reproduce at an earlier age. "The younger the survival
machine at the time sexual urges appear, the longer will be the span of
procreative capacity, and the greater the likelihood the individual will
create
more survival machines in the next generation."

Update - Volume 16, Number 6, 2003 Parental Alienation Syndrome: What

"The
late Dr. Richard Gardner, a clinical professor of Psychiatry at Columbia
University, coined Parental Alienation Syndrome (PAS) in 1985, after noticing
a
"disorder" among patients within his private practice." “"The theory of PAS
is based in part on the notion that, within custody disputes, there is a high
incidence of false abuse allegationsTo the contrary, the available
research suggests that false allegation rates are not significantly high. For
example, a 1990 study by Thoennes and Tjaden (Thoennes & Tjaden, The Extent,
Nature and Validity of Sexual Abuse Allegation in Custody/Visitation Disputes,
Child Abuse and Neglect 1990, 14:151-163) evaluated 9,000 divorces in 12
states
and found that sexual abuse allegations were made in less than 2 percent of
the contested divorces involving child custody. Within this group, it appears
false allegations occurred in approximately 5% to 8% of cases. This study is
one of the most comprehensive and least subject to bias and sampling
problems, since its sample is so large and representative of the population of
those
divorcing with custody and visitation disputes." “"At best, PAS is a
nondiagnostic "syndrome" that only explains the behavior of the child and the
mother
when there is a known false allegation.20 It is a courtroom diagnosis
befitting adversaries involved in legal sparring. It is not capable of lending
itself to hard data or inclusion in the forthcoming DSM-V. In short, PAS is
an
untested theory that, unchallenged, can have far-reaching consequences for
children seeking protection and legal vindication in courts of law."

One and a Half Trillion Bailout For The Creators of the Market Crisis

Posted: September 21 2008

US Mortgage bailout at half a trillion, Loss of confidence means end
of credibility in the markets. Phony wars, phony values in real
estate will cost all of you,
financial companies bought out, power consolidated in financial
markets, Gold on the rise, stock markets as volatile as a drunken
sailor. Why are the markets rallying after the big bailout?

We recoil in disgust at the way these arrogant
sociopaths, the henchmen of the Illuminati at the Fed and in our
Treasury Department, led by Bernanke and Paulson, respectively, are
taking the toxic waste losses of the Wall Street fraudsters and
dumping them on the taxpayer sheople, while short-squeezing savvy
investors by selectively prohibiting and prosecuting shorts of any
kind for the stocks of about 800 financial institutions through

early October, which all deserve to be short
ed. Between the Byzantine dollar rally, the Saudi crude oil
assassination, the peppering of precious metals by pernicious paper-
hangers (wasn't Adolf Hitler a paper-hanger at one time?) and the
short-squeeze on financials, we wonder how many more hedge funds are
going to go under, and take everyone else with them in the process,
as Lehman gets cannibalized just in time to rack up mark-to-market
losses for the sheople to eat in the latest bailout bonanza for the
fraudsters, soon to be revealed as the Resolution Trust Company II
solution?

Bailing out the toxic mortgages found among the half of US real
estate mortgages held or guaranteed by Phonie and Fraudie, some 5+
trillion worth, was not enough for them. Now, they want to pawn the
rest of the toxins from the other half of US mortgages, which they
estimate will be about a half a trillion. Gee, didn't they tell us
the Iran War would cost 60 to 200 billion, only to find out later
that when you add in future costs for veteran's disabilities and
pensions, the cost could top 3 trillion? And didn't Bernanke tell us
that the fallout from the subprime situation was contained? Of
course, that was before we saw fraudsters around the world eat $350
billion and counting. And didnt all the
fraudster CEO's keep telling us that their walking dead zombie
companies were sound and liquid right up to the time that their
shareholders got vaporized? Aren't you starting to get a little
tired of all the lies? Can we trust even a single word spoken by
anyone from Wall Street, the Fed or our "beloved" Treasury Department
anymore? The Street, the Fed and our government now have ZERO
credibility. This loss of confidence is going to take the markets
down no matter what these reprobate and sociopath elitists do!

You will eat multiple trillions of dollars from each of
the following: (1) The phony War on Terror; (2) the loss in real
estate values caused by
record inventories that will be created by defaults and
foreclosures resulting from rampant unemployment, loan fraud, over-
leveraged consumers and ARM and Option ARM resets; (3) the combined
bailout of Fannie's and Freddie's share of the toxic waste contained
in the approximately half of all US mortgages which these cess pools
have made or insured, plus the losses from the Resolution Trust
Company II bailout of the toxic waste from the remaining half of US
mortgages; (4) the shortage in the FDIC's insurance reserves that
will be generated by losses incurred on account of what will be
anywhere from 1,000 bank failures, as suggested by billionaire Wilber
Ross, to
perhaps as many as half of all banks in the US, as recently
suggested by Ken Lewis, CEO of Bank of America; (5) the PBGC's
funding shortage to cover losses suffered by pension plan
beneficiaries on account of pension under-funding caused by what will
be the loss of as much as half of the value of all US equity shares;
(6) the bailouts likely to occur when the credit default swaps and
interest rate swaps, along with the entire bond market, go under in
what will be the greatest bear market of all time in both bonds and
derivatives, which are guaranteedto occur based on the hyperinflation
that will be caused by all the othe

[cia-drugs] Help get Bush and Cheney Impeached

2008-09-24 Thread scott munson
*Bush and Cheney can and should be impeached even after they leave
office.
The invasion of Iraq was illegal and violated the Geneva Convention, The
Oath of Office, The Constitution, and The United Nations Charter.
Over four
thousand Americans and many thousands of Iraqis have died because of
this
tragic and criminal incompetence. Bush and Cheney lied and thousands
died. *
*Please call, fax, email, and write to your Senators and Congressmen and
urge them to allow the articles of impeachment presented by Dennis
Kucinich
out of committee. Get contact information at

http://repeatedexpletives.blogspot.com/2008/09/still-few-more-days-to-
impeach.html

Still a few more days to Impeach

Congress will be closing soon, taking a break till
after the election. They're pretty busy right now,
trying to figure out how to bail out our financial
sector without completely destroying what's left of
the country.

The whole government is so well distracted by this
latest predicament, they probably won't get around to
Impeachment, but maybe we can remind them via a
petition. We have one last shot - if they don't
impeach now, the most corrupt administration in the
history of our country gets off scott free.

Some say "what does it matter? He's a lame duck
anyway!" or "we'll get him in the courts after he's
out of office." Those people are forgetting about the
Presidential power to Pardon. He can pardon himself,
Cheney, his cabinet, key figures of the inJustice
Department, CIA torture chiefs, and the Wall Street
Tycoons behind the current financial disaster.
Pardoning frantically in your last 2 months in office
is something all Presidents do, so we should expect
Bush will try the same.

Impeach Bush To Stop Pardons

Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of Rep. Dennis
Kucinich, President George Bush and Vice President
Dick Cheney stand accused of 39 grave and impeachable
offenses.

Most of these offenses, including war crimes, are
felonies for which Bush and Cheney can be criminally
prosecuted after they leave office, even if they are
not impeached by Congress.

Obviously Bush and Cheney do not want to be
prosecuted. So to protect themselves, George Bush's
last official act will likely be pardons for himself,
Dick Cheney, Scooter Libby, and everyone else who
committed crimes as part of the Bush Administration.

While most lawyers assume pardons cannot precede
convictions, Gerald Ford set a powerful precedent by
pardoning Richard Nixon in 1972 before he was even
indicted, let alone convicted. If Ford could legally
pardon Nixon, then George Bush can legally pardon
himself.

So there is only one way to stop George Bush from
pre-emptively pardoning himself, Cheney, and everyone
else in his administration: Congress must impeach Bush
and Cheney before Bush can issue such pardons.

The Founding Fathers clearly anticipated a corrupt
President might pardon his co-conspirators, and
specified impeachment as the remedy.

George Mason, the father of the Bill of Rights
(1791-2002), argued at the Constitutional Convention
that the President might use his pardoning power to
"pardon crimes which were advised by himself" or,
before indictment or conviction, "to stop inquiry and
prevent detection."

James Madison, the father of the U.S. Constitution
(1788-2007), added that "if the President be
connected, in any suspicious manner, with any person,
and there be grounds to believe he will shelter
[pardon] him, the House of Representatives can impeach
him; they can remove him if found guilty."

Together, we can change the world, one mind at a time.
Have a great day,

[cia-drugs] Thank You, Dr. Ron Paul

Thank You, Dr. Ron Paul
By Chuck Baldwin
September 23, 2008

This column is archived at
http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/c2008/cbarchive_20080923_2.html

Yesterday, September 22, Congressman Ron Paul publicly gave me his
endorsement for the office of President of the United States. In his
blog at
the Campaign for Liberty web site, he said, "I'm supporting Chuck
Baldwin,

the Constitution Party candidate." (See the complete statement at:
http://www.campaignforliberty.com/blog/?p=582 )

Obviously, I could not be more delighted and honored to have Dr. Paul's
endorsement. I called him last evening and thanked him personally.
And now I

want to thank him publicly.

I am fully aware that Dr. Paul was under considerable pressure from
various
groups that were actively soliciting his support. I can honestly say
that I
never lobbied Dr. Paul for his endorsement. He knew I would be
thrilled to
have it, but I have too much respect for Ron Paul to be so
presumptuous as
to expect him to endorse me. I completely understood his neutrality.
He has
strong ties to both the Libertarian and Constitution parties--not to
mention

the obvious fact that he is a ten-term Republican Congressman with much
support from the Republican Party in his home district.

I was happy to support Ron Paul during the Republican primaries,
because I
believe in the same principles. I personally campaigned for him in
several
states and in this column. And I asked (or expected) nothing in
return. In
fact, I have stated this publicly, time and again: if Ron Paul had
won the
Republican nomination for President, I would not be running. I would
still

be supporting Ron Paul.

I am running for President because the Republican Party rejected Ron's
Paul's message of constitutional government, fiscal responsibility, and
non-interventionism. Therefore, someone had to pick up the mantle and
carry
this message into the general election. The Constitution Party asked
me to

be their standard-bearer in order to bring this message to the American
people in November. So, here I am. And now, Ron Paul's endorsement is
further substantiation that the message of constitutional government
will
not die in 2008. The American people still have a real choice instead
of the
big-government, globalist, interventionist, "big box" party
candidates, John

McCain and Barack Obama.

Ron Paul's message is my message; Ron Paul's fight is my fight.

I want to return America to constitutional government. "The powers not
delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by
it to

the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
(Amendment X) I believe that, and will govern the Executive branch of
the

federal government accordingly.

My sworn oath to the Tenth Amendment means I would dismantle the
Patriot Act
and restore law enforcement to the states and local governments,
where it

rightly belongs. Yes, this includes the so-called "war on drugs" and the
so-called "war on terror." No more warrantless searches and seizures. No
more eavesdropping on Americans' phone calls, or collecting Americans'
emails, or spying on American citizens without court order and
oversight. No

more stripping Americans of their constitutional rights in the name of
"national security." In addition, I would use every power and authority
vested to my office to preserve and protect the right of the people
to keep

and bear arms. And, yes, I will immediately restore Posse Comitatus. As
President, I want to protect America from Washington, D.C., as much I
want

to protect it from foreign powers.

I will also take the words of the Declaration of Independence seriously,
where it states, "That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought
to be
Free and Independent States." This means the day I am sworn in as
President

of the United States, the New World Order comes crashing down! The NAFTA
superhighway is dead. The North American Union is dead. I will work to
eliminate NAFTA, CAFTA, GATT, and the WTO. The FTAA is DOA. I will not
expend tax dollars for the support of the United Nations.

Furthermore, I will take my oath to the Constitution seriously, when it
states that one of the express purposes of the federal government is to
"repel Invasions." This means we will secure America's borders,
because the
illegal immigration crisis is more than mere immigration: it is an
invasion,
and I will stop it! Even if I have to send the U.S. Army to the
borders, we
will put a stop to this invasion of illegal aliens. I will also
aggressively

prosecute those employers who knowingly hire illegals. And did I mention
that my first day in office is Border Patrol Agents Ramos and
Compean's last
day in prison? I will personally open the prison doo

[cia-drugs] Army Unit to Deploy in October for Domestic Operations

The 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team has spent thirty-five of the last sixty months in Iraq, but now the unit is training for domestic operations. The unit will soon be under the day-to-day control of US Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command. The Army Times reports this new mission marks the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to Northern Command. The paper says the Army unit may be called upon to help with civil unrest and crowd control. The soldiers are learning to use so-called nonlethal weapons designed to subdue unruly or dangerous individuals and crowds. NOTE: Here is the link from the Army Times. http://www.armytimes.com/news/2008/09/army_homeland_090708w Please note words use like the brigade will help in civil unrest and crowd control by using "non-lethal weapons". author encourages uploading to other websites so as to reduce the load
on his Sweden-based humble website.

A devastingly blunt forward places the current financial crisis in
perspective, as the THIRD of our clear and present dangers. The first
is the massive electoral fraud now going on, and the prevention of other
parties from being included in the debates and in the public dialog.
The second is the growing desire for secession by over two dozen
movements, with Vermont, elements of the South, and the Pacific
Northwest having the strongest proponency at this time.

Chapters on The Substance of Governance; Legitimate Grievances (Part I
on Secessionists, Part II on Anti-Americanism); Candidates on the
Issues; Balanced Budget 101; and Call to Arms: Fund We Not Them, arouse,
inspire, annoy, and provoke. An annotated bibliography with active
links to over 500 books spanning over twenty-five topics from
Anti-Americanism and Betrayal of the Public Trust to Collective
Intelligence, Democracy in Decline, Innovation & 21st Century
Leadership, and Philosophy, Pyschology, and Religion from Faith to
Fascism, will provide many hours of free direct access to the most
recent noni-fiction relevant to determining whether the two political
parties are the pig and this election is the lipstick. As the author
concludes, "let's lose the lopstick, eat the pig, and move on."

Why Elliot Spitzer was politically assassinated. ?:

Predatory Lenders' Partner in Crime
How the Bush Administration Stopped the States From Stepping In to
Help Consumers

By Eliot Spitzer
Thursday, February 14, 2008; A25

Several years ago, state attorneys general and others involved in
consumer
protection began to notice a marked increase in a range of predatory
lending
practices by mortgage lenders. Some were misrepresenting the terms of
loans,

making loans without regard to consumers' ability to repay, making loans
with deceptive "teaser" rates that later ballooned astronomically,
packing
loans with undisclosed charges and fees, or even paying illegal
kickbacks.
These and other practices, we noticed, were having a devastating
effect on
home buyers. In addition, the widespread nature of these practices,
if left

unchecked, threatened our financial markets.

Even though predatory lending was becoming a national problem, the Bush
administration looked the other way and did nothing to protect American
homeowners. In fact, the government chose instead to align itself
with the

banks that were victimizing consumers.

Predatory lending was widely understood to present a looming national
crisis. This threat was so clear that as New York attorney general ,
I joined
with colleagues in the other 49 states in attempting to fill the void
left

by the federal government. Individually, and together, state attorneys
general of both parties brought litigation or entered into
settlements with

many subprime lenders that were engaged in predatory lending practices.
Several state legislatures, including New York's, enacted laws aimed at
curbing such practices.

What did the Bush administration do in response? Did it reverse
course and
decide to take action to halt this burgeoning scourge? As Americans
are now
painfully aware, with hundreds of thousands of homeowners facing
foreclosure

and our markets reeling, the answer is a resounding no.

Not only did the Bush administration do nothing to protect consumers, it
embarked on an aggressive and unprecedented campaign to prevent
states from

protecting their residents from the very problems to which the federal
government was turning a blind eye.

Let me explain: The administration accomplished this feat through an
obscure
federal agency called the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency
of the Currency (OCC).
The OCC has been in existence since the Civil War. Its mission is to
ensure
the fiscal soundness of national banks. For 140 years, the OCC
examined the
books of national banks to make sure they were balanced, an important
but

uncontroversial function. But a few years ago, for the first time in its
history, the OCC was used as a tool against consumers.

In 2003, during the height of the predatory lending crisis, the OCC
invoked
a clause from the 1863 National Bank Act to issue formal opinions
preempting
all state predatory lending laws, thereby rendering them inoperative.
The
OCC also promulgated new rules that prevented states from enforcing
any of

their own consumer protection laws against national banks. The federal
government's actions were so egregious and so unprecedented that all 50
state attorneys general, and all 50 state banking superintendents,
actively

fought the new rules.

But the unanimous opposition of the 50 states did not deter, or even
slow,
the Bush administration in its goal of protecting the banks. In fact,
when

my office opened an investigation of possible discrimination in mortgage
lending by a number of banks, the OCC filed a federal lawsuit to stop
the

investigation.

Throughout our battles with the OCC and the banks, the mantra of the
banks
and their defenders was that efforts to curb predatory lending would
deny
access to credit to the very consumers the states were trying to
protect.
But the curbs we sought on predatory and unfair lending would have in
no way
jeopardized access to the legitimate credit market for appropriately
priced

loans. Instead, they would have stopped the scourge of predatory lending
practices that have resulted in countless thousands of consumers losing
their homes and put our economy in a precarious position.

When history tells the story of the subprime lending crisis and
recounts its
devastating effects on the lives of so many innocent homeowners, the
Bush
administration will not be judged favorably. The tale is still
unfolding,
but when the dust settles, it will be judged as a willing accomplice
to the
lenders who went to any lengths in their quest for profits. So
willing, in
fact, that it used the power of the federal government in an
unprecedented

assault on state legislatures, as well as on state attorneys general and
anyon

"They have done more to hurt this nation than bin Laden could ever
dream of."

Scheer is on the fence about 9/11 truth, and clearly just uses bin
Laden here to make his point, but he really hit the nail on the head
in this Democracy Now interview this morning --

ROBERT SCHEER: Oh, it’s absolutely outrageous, and we can’t let them
get away with it. I mean, consider that Paulson was the head of
Goldman Sachs, OK? He knew about credit swaps. He knew about hybrid
instruments. He knew all of this stuff. And now he’s the guy that
says Congress has to give him a blank check, it has to be a pure
bill? Nonsense!

This is our money. Why isn’t this money used to help people who are
going to lose their houses? You miss two, three payments, and they’re
going to foreclose on you; then they say, “Well, we hope the banks
will work out new agreements.” Nonsense! Do a freeze on foreclosures.
Stop the bleeding. Have a year to let it settle, and force the banks
to come to agreements.

You know, but, I mean, the idea that they didn’t know what was going
on, well, this is a Ponzi scheme of their creation, and they thought
they would bail before it hit the fan. That’s what they thought.
They’d be gone, and someone else would be blamed. They’d have their
golden parachutes. I don’t know why we’re not considering criminal
charges against these people. They have done more to hurt this nation
than bin Laden could ever dream of.

The dollar could be at a major turning point

The dollar could be at a major turning point Photo: AP

Whether or not tomorrow’s accounts of today’s turmoil prove David Owen
of
Dresdner Kleinwort right; whether or not this is the beginning of the
end of

the dollar’s pre-eminence in the world’s central banks and foreign
exchanges, the economic landscape has undoubtedly changed forever.

The US taxpayer bail-out of America’s banking sector is an event whose
significance will reverberate for many years. What it means for free
markets, for the way Western economies are run, for the prosperity of
the

world economy, must remain to be seen.

But as investors scrambled to make sense of last week’s events,
already one
conclusion was all but irrefutable – the US dollar will have to take
another

major fall.

The dollar rally that began in July and pushed the pound’s value
against the
greenback significantly lower has come to an abrupt end as markets
face up
to the fact that the currency will have to absorb the effects of a
sudden

shocking increase in America’s budget deficit.

When Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson announced that the world’s biggest
economy was about to embark on the world’s biggest bail-out for its
financial sector, the first concern economists had was about the long-
term

prospects for the nation’s finances and its currency.

Might the dollar now be vulnerable to a run? In the longer term, might
this

signal the beginning of the end for the dollar’s status as the world’s
reserve currency?

The US Treasury was already planning to borrow $438bn (£237bn) next
year to

shore up its budget deficit. That could now rise to $1 trillion or more
after the cost of the $700bn mortgage rescue fund is taken into account.
Budget deficits of that kind are usually enough to scare many foreign
investors away, and indeed the dollar slumped 1.1 cents to $1.8441
against
the pound yesterday, and in late trading was down almost two cents
against

the euro at $1.46880.

Ironically, despite the pound’s comparative strength against the
dollar –

having risen from just above $1.75 in the past few weeks – it remains
extremely weak against other world currencies, due to investors’ fears
about

the UK’s own home-grown problems.

“The magic trillion-dollar deficit is within sight,” says Simon
Derrick, of
Bank of New York Mellon, “The combination of the fiscal position and
loose

monetary policy is likely to be significantly dollar-negative. With an
expanding supply of US paper they might want to hold something else as
their
safe haven, which might mean other currencies and might just as easily
mean

commodities such as gold.”

When a government opens the spending taps and borrows more, investors
invariably take flight, fearing that assets denominated in those
currencies

will lose their value as inflation rises and the currency weakens.

However, with the Treasury still reluctant to spell out precisely how
the
rescue package, modelled on the late 1980s’ Resolution Trust
Corporation,
will work, analysts are still unclear about how far the dollar has to
fall.

It is likewise still unknown precisely what effect the quasi-
nationalisation
of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will have for the nation’s finances,
though

the implications will again almost certainly be negative.

According to Mr Derrick, “the sums have changed so quickly on the fiscal
side within the space of two weeks, and clearly the outlook for the US
economy relative to where people were forecasting before Freddie and
Fannie.

Investors will also have a radically different outlook for the future.”

The biggest question, however, is whether the reserve managers in
central
banks in China and elsewhere will treat this as a justification for
selling

off some of their massive mountain of dollar-denominated investments. If
this were to happen, it could cause a catastrophic drop in the US
currency,

potentially compromising its status as the world’s re

the Bush administration’s bailout plan for Wall Street.

All of them have a stake, personal and financial as well as political,
in

rescuing the financial elite at the expense of the American
people. This applies no less to the Democrats than to the Republicans.

About half of the Senate’s 100 members were millionaires in 2006,
according

to the Center for Responsive Politics (CPR),
with an average net worth of $8.9 million.

The two leading Democrats on the Banking Committee, Chairman Christopher
Dodd of Connecticut and Charles Schumer of New York, are among the most
favored recipients of campaign cash from big Wall Street interests.

Senator Schumer raised $12,928,000 in the 2003-2008 election cycle,
according to the CPR. His top five industries for
campaign cash were securities and investment, lawyers and law firms,
real

estate, miscellaneous finance and commercial banks,
from which he netted a total of $3,937,000. His top five contributing
firms

were Citigroup, UBS, Paul Weiss et al, Kasowitz,
Benson et al and Metlife, which funneled a total of $271,000 to his
campaigns.

In the course of his political career, Senator Dodd has raised
$43,344,000.

In the 2003-2008 election cycle his top five
industries for campaign funds were securities and investment
($4,268,000),

lawyers and law firms, insurance, real estate and
commercial banks, for a total of $9,826,000. His top five contributing
firms were Citigroup, SAC Capital Partners, United
Technologies, Royal Bank of Scotland and the insurance giant (taken
over by

the government earlier this month) American
International Group. His total take from these firms was $1,315,000.

Dodd, who presents himself as the champion of homeowners victimized by
the

subprime mortgage racket, proposed a housing
bill in June of this year that would assist subprime lenders such as
Countrywide Financial, the biggest purveyor of such home
loans. Countrywide, on the brink of collapse, was bought out by Bank of
America earlier this year.

Condé Nast Portfolio reported that in 2003 Dodd refinanced the
mortgages on

his homes in Washington DC and Connecticut
through Countrywide and received below-market rates due to his having
been

placed in a “Friends of Angelo” program (named
for CEO Angelo Mozilo).

"THE BUTLER DIDN'T DO IT
THE BANKERS DID

It is bankers such as Henry Paulson who are responsible for America's
disintegrating and imploding economy. Since 1913 America has allowed
private

bankers to control the issuance of America's money and now, in the very
midst of the problems they themselves created, the bankers through
Paulson's
plan are seeking unsupervised control over America's economy complete
with

immunity from any future criminal prosecution.

This is because the bankers not only want America to bail them out,
they are

planning to steal their assets back in the process.

TREASURY SEEKS ASSET-BUYING POWER UNCHECKED
BY COURTS (Update2)
By Alison Fitzgerald and John Brinsley

Sept. 21 (Bloomberg) -- The Bush administration sought unchecked power
from

Congress to buy $700 billion in bad mortgage investments from financial
companies in what would be an unprecedented government intrusion into
the

markets.

Through his plan, Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson aims to avert a
credit
freeze that would bring the financial system and the world's largest
economy
to a standstill. The bill would prevent courts from reviewing actions
taken

under its authority. [bold, mine]

"He's asking for a huge amount of power,'' said Nouriel Roubini, an
economist at New York University. "He's saying, 'Trust me, I'm going
to do

it right if you give me absolute control.' This is not a monarchy.''

The investment banks are even now intending to violate the law in
Paulson's
proposed government takeover and redistribution of bank assets. It is
in the
redistribution and sale of bank assets where the crimes will occur -
crimes
which will be granted pre-existing immunity from judicial prosecution
under

Paulson's proposal.

This same caveat - immunity from subsequent criminal prosecution - was
also
written into the authorization of the original Resolution Trust
Corporation

which disposed of government seized property after the Savings & Loan
crisis.

The reason no one remembers the hundreds of billions of dollars of
seized
property from Savings & Loans listed for sale by the RTC is because it
never

happened.

The greatest wealth transfer in recent history happened when taxpayer
money

was used to liquidate S&L properties which were then "sold" to
well-connected insiders in transactions immune from criminal
prosecution for

literally pennies on the dollar.

The soon-to-be owned bank assets under Paulson's plan will not be sold
to
the highest bidders in an open and fair auction, they will be disposed
of

again to pools of the wealthy and well-connected at highly discounted
insider valuations. The people will pay, the rich will profit.

QUI CUSTODIAT CUSTODES
WHO WILL GUARD THE GUARDIANS

No, this isn't a monarchy. This is fascism.

THE FOX IS IN THE HENHOUSE

Today, investment banker Henry Paulson, former CEO of investment bank
Goldman Sachs is US Secretary of the Treasury. This is no coincidence.
Thomas Jefferson would not be surprised.

Paulson's plan to bail out the banks is being presented to American
citizens
as a fait accompli, as a necessary step to prevent the complete
meltdown of

our financial system. Paulson's plan is exactly what every venal,
opportunistic and self-serving banker would propose as a solution to
America's problems in such circumstances.

INVESTMENT BANKERS
DON'T NEED TO BE BAILED OUT
INVESTMENT BANKERS NEED TO BE THROWN OUT

The answer to America's problems is clear. Thomas Jefferson said it two
hundred years ago.

The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the
people,

to whom it properly belongs.

Let's do what has to be done, America - or do you still want to blame
Muslim
terrorists and illegal immigrants for America's problems; or maybe you
are
still hoping that somehow maybe somehow Paulson's proposed trillion
dollar
government bailout of the rich and well-connected will somehow trickle
down
to you and save you and your family from being tossed out onto the
streets

when your house is foreclosed on by the banks he is going to save.

The majority will always willing pay the price of fascism

When this is all over - and someday it will be - it is my hope that we
will

have learned the lessons that we have now forgotten. That bankers, like
vicious dogs, must always be kept on short leashes for the public
safety and

public good (neutering should also be a requirement); and, that gold and
silver, not credit and debt, are the only foundation of sound money.

Dirty Secret Of The Bailout: Thirty-Two Words That None Dare Utter

Published on 23-09-2008

Source: Huffington Post - Jason Linkins

A critical - and radical - component of the bailout package proposed
by the Bush
administration has thus far failed to garner the serious attention of
anyone in the press.
Section 8 (which ironically reminds one of the popular name of the
portion of the 1937
Housing Act that paved the way for subsidized affordable housing ) of
this legislation is
just a single sentence of thirty-two words, but it represents a
significant consolidation of
power and an abdication of oversight authority that's so flat-out
astounding that it ought

to set one's hair on fire. It reads, in its entirety:

Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are
non-reviewable and
committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court
of law or any

administrative agency.
In short, the so-called "mother of all bailouts," which will transfer
$700 billion taxpayer
dollars to purchase the distressed assets of several failed financial
institutions, will be
conducted in a manner unchallengeable by courts and ungovernable by
the People's duly
sworn representatives. All decision-making power will be consolidated
into the Executive
Branch - who, we remind you, will have the incentive to act upon this
privilege as quickly
as possible, before they leave office. The measure will run up the
budget deficit by a
significant amount, with no guarantee of recouping the outlay, and no
fundamental means

of holding those who fail to do so accountable.

Is this starting to sound familiar? Robert Kuttner cuts through much
of the gloss in an

article in today's American Prospect:

The deal proposed by Paulson is nothing short of outrageous. It
includes no oversight of
his own closed-door operations. It merely gives congressional
blessing and funding to
what he has already been doing, ad hoc. He plans to retain Wall
Street firms as advisors to
decide just how to cut deals to value and mop up Wall Street's
dubious paper. There are to
be no limits on executive compensation for the firms that get relief,
and no equity share
for the government in exchange for this massive infusion of capital.
Both Obama and
McCain have opposed the provision denying any judicial review of
decisions made by
Paulson -- a provision that evokes the Bush administration's
suspension of normal
constitutional safeguards in its conduct of foreign policy and
national security. [...]

The differences between this proposed bailout and the three closest
historical equivalents
are immense. When the Reconstruction Finance Corporation of the 1930s
pumped a total
of $35 billion into U.S. corporations and financial institutions,
there was close government
supervision and quid pro quos at every step of the way. Much of the
time, the RFC became
a preferred shareholder, and often appointed board members. The Home
Owners Loan
Corporation, which eventually refinanced one in five mortgage loans,
did not operate to
bail out banks but to save homeowners. And the Resolution Trust
Corporation of the
1980s, created to mop up the damage of the first speculative mortgage
meltdown, the S&L
collapse, did not pump in money to rescue bad investments; it sorted
out good assets
from bad after the fact, and made sure to purge bad executives as
well as bad loans. And
all three of these historic cases of public recapitalization were
done without suspending

judicial review.

Kuttner's opposition here is perhaps the strongest language I've seen
used, pushing back
on this piece of legislation, in any publication of repute, and even
here, Section 8 is not
cited by name or by content. McClatchy Newspapers also alludes to
Section 8 with concern,
citing the "unfettered authority" that Paulson would be granted, and
noting that the "law
also would preclude court review of steps Paulson might take,
something Joshua Rosner,
managing director of economic researcher Graham Fisher & Co. in New
York, said could be
used to mask previous illegal activity." Jack Balkin also gives the
matter the sort of

attention it deserves on his blog, Balkinization.

But elsewhere, the conversation is muted. The debate over whether
Congress is going to
pass the Paulson bailout package, or pass the Paulson bailout package
really hard seems
to have boiled down to a discussion of time and concessions. The
White House has made it
clear that they want this package passed yesterday. Congressional
Democrats seem to be
of different minds on the matter, with some pushing back hard, and
others content to
demand a small dollop of turd polish to make the package seem m

[cia-drugs] The Blackmailing of the United Congress

THE BLACKMAILING OF THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS

By Joan Veon
September 24, 2008

Americans are being confronted with catastrophic events. How does one hear
truth? Truth is dependent on assumptions people make about what they hear and
it is also dependent on if they are seekers of truth. Pontius Pilot when
confronted with the demands of the Pharisee and Sadducees over Jesus, asked
“What is truth?” Interestingly that question has transcended time and eternity.
Either you believe what Paulson and Bernanke, along with a circle of insiders
are telling us or you hear in their words lies, deceit, and deception.

We have watched as countries around the world had their financial crises which
left average citizens homeless, their industries destroyed, and their
currencies crushed. Now it appears that it is our turn and our time. The public
is being told to first hand over their money and secondly to transfer the last
vestiges of our financial power to the Federal Reserve by adopting the Treasury
proposal for a “Modernized Financial Regulatory System.” When both of these
actions are complete, America will be a shell of what we were at the height of
our glory. The middle class of America will have been effectively rendered
serfs and the rich will be much richer due to the cleansing process.

The once manageable subprime crisis has mushroomed into a catastrophic problem
in which the Federal Reserve via the Treasury is demanding that the American
people pay $700 Billion to $1 Trillion to shoulder the debt of Fannie and
Freddie. In case you did not know it, Fannie and Freddie are public-private
partnerships. Since public-private partnerships are being touted by Prince
Charles, the United Nations, and our own Congress as wonderful opportunities, I
wonder if they would care to re-think their opinion on how to restructure our
government. Ever since 1998 when then Vice President Al Gore convened the first
global meeting on “Reinventing Government”, the goal has been to turn every
major governmental asset from water facilities, to sewers, to roads and bridges
into public-private partnerships--half government and half private sector
entities—GSEs. If they all turn out like Fannie and Freddie, we will never
recover.

It was six months ago in March that Paulson unveiled the Blueprint mentioned
above. No wonder they want to transfer the Fannie and Freddie debt to the
taxpayers! If you read the proposed Senate bill which has yet to be numbered,
you will find that they are proposing to set up the “Fannie and Freddie
Emergency Oversight Board” in which the Federal Reserve will become its
chairperson. Amazing! Why isn’t the Congress seeing what the average American
sees? Next thing you know the Fed will want to disband Congress and the
Executive Branch. The stakes are so high for the booty of America to be handed
over to Pirates Paulson and Bernanke, that their every word constitutes a
veiled threat.

In testimony today, a number of senators voiced surprise at learning a new
detail here and there like the buying up of second lien mortgages, auto loans,
and foreign central banks and the bailing out America. They voiced concern
about all the unknowns of the newly proposed system that has not been tested
and the need to rush legislation through. They voiced concern about how they
would face their constituents (a good thing), and they voiced concern about the
ambiguities of what is or is not being proposed so they can better understand.
Senator Bunning from Kentucky questioned Paulson intensely about the fact that
he read in the newspapers that Paulson also wants to include student loans and
credit card debt as well. Paulson responded that he “asked for broad powers”
and that he wanted “flexibility to buy other types of assets to keep the entire
system [cleaned] up.” When pressed by Bunning, Paulson backed down but he also
made it clear, “I am trained to run towards problems.”

There were several very good ideas and alternatives put forth today by the
senators but they were all shot down by Paulson and Bernanke who sang the song,
“We need to act quickly.” The day started off with the Dow futures moving up
and statements by Paulson and Bernanke who both called for fast action.

In transcribing conversations on CNBC for the past two weeks, I have been
amazed at the number of times I heard about our need to act quickly or else. I
also heard how fortunate to have one of the world’s leading authorities on the
Great Depression heading the Federal Reserve. Wonder if that was the real
reason for appointing Bernanke? Commentary follows:

September 23, 2008
Interview with Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm

Becky Quick: “We need to act quickly, if Congress cannot agree do you want to
take time to work it out?
Governor: “Whether this week or next week, there has to be something in it for
those paying the bills.”

None of the media has picked up on this story published in the “Army Times.”
An Iraq brigade, now deployed in the state of Georgia, is receiving training to
assist local authorities in protecting the “homeland.” In addition to learning
how to use the “jaws of life” and to clear trees to open roads, they are being
trained on how to set up road blocks and the use of tasers and beanbag guns.
It is interesting that this unprecedented military deployment comes at a time
when Wall Street is in a melt down and the executive branch is demanding an
even further expansion of its powers. KS

Brigade homeland tours start Oct. 1
3rd Infantry’s 1st BCT trains for a new dwell-time mission. Helping ‘people at
home’ may become a permanent part of the active Army

By Gina Cavallaro

Sep 8, 2008

The 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team has spent 35 of the last
60 months in Iraq patrolling in full battle rattle, helping restore essential
services and escorting supply convoys.

Now they’re training for the same mission — with a twist — at home.

Beginning Oct. 1 for 12 months, the 1st BCT will be under the day-to-day
control of U.S. Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command, as
an on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and
disasters, including terrorist attacks.

It is not the first time an active-duty unit has been tapped to help at home.
In August 2005, for example, when Hurricane Katrina unleashed hell in
Mississippi and Louisiana, several active-duty units were pulled from various
posts and mobilized to those areas.

But this new mission marks the first time an active unit has been given a
dedicated assignment to NorthCom, a joint command established in 2002 to
provide command and control for federal homeland defense efforts and coordinate
defense support of civil authorities.

After 1st BCT finishes its dwell-time mission, expectations are that another,
as yet unnamed, active-duty brigade will take over and that the mission will be
a permanent one.

“Right now, the response force requirement will be an enduring mission. How the
[Defense Department] chooses to source that and whether or not they continue to
assign them to NorthCom, that could change in the future,” said Army Col. Louis
Vogler, chief of NorthCom future operations. “Now, the plan is to assign a
force every year.”

The command is at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colo., but the
soldiers with 1st BCT, who returned in April after 15 months in Iraq, will
operate out of their home post at Fort Stewart, Ga., where they’ll be able to
go to school, spend time with their families and train for their new homeland
mission as well as the counterinsurgency mission in the war zones.

Stop-loss will not be in effect, so soldiers will be able to leave the Army or
move to new assignments during the mission, and the operational tempo will be
variable.

Don’t look for any extra time off, though. The at-home mission does not take
the place of scheduled combat-zone deployments and will take place during the
so-called dwell time a unit gets to reset and regenerate after a deployment.

The 1st of the 3rd is still scheduled to deploy to either Iraq or Afghanistan
in early 2010, which means the soldiers will have been home a minimum of 20
months by the time they ship out.

In the meantime, they’ll learn new skills, use some of the ones they acquired
in the war zone and more than likely will not be shot at while doing any of it.

They may be called upon to help with civil unrest and crowd control or to deal
with potentially horrific scenarios such as massive poisoning and chaos in
response to a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or high-yield
explosive, or CBRNE, attack.

Training for homeland scenarios has already begun at Fort Stewart and includes
specialty tasks such as knowing how to use the “jaws of life” to extract a
person from a mangled vehicle; extra medical training for a CBRNE incident; and
working with U.S. Forestry Service experts on how to go in with chainsaws and
cut and clear trees to clear a road or area.

The 1st BCT’s soldiers also will learn how to use “the first ever nonlethal
package that the Army has fielded,” 1st BCT commander Col. Roger Cloutier said,
referring to crowd and traffic control equipment and nonlethal weapons designed
to subdue unruly or dangerous individuals without killing them.

“It’s a new modular package of nonlethal capabilities that they’re fielding.
They’ve been using pieces of it in Iraq, but this is the first time that these
modules were consolidated and this package fielded, and because of this mission
we’re undertaking we were the first to get it.”

The package includes equipment to stand up a hasty road block; spike strips for
slowing, stopping or controlling traffic; shields and batons; and, beanbag
bullets.

“I was the first guy in the brigade to get Tasered,” said Cloutier, describing
the experi
