[c-nsp] npe-g2 + shaping

2012-10-29 Thread BALLA Attila

Hello,
I met an interesting issue: there is a Cisco 7200 NPE-G2 with
12.4(24)T7, this router terminates some broadband users, we applied
shaping on the virtual-template and we surprised: shaping was not working.
We upgraded (downgraded?) to 12.2(33)SRE6 and the shaping was working
properly, so I think it is not a config issue.

This router has a SA-VAM2+, but SRE does not support this module.
First question: is it normal, that shaping is not working on
virtual-template at 12.4(24)T7?
Second question: is any release which supports shaping on virtual-template
and sa-vam2+?

I ran into the same problem with 12.4 releases on the 7200 and ISR
G1/G2s some time ago when applying a QoS policy via RADIUS, (can't
remember if it was in 12.4T but certainly was a problem in 12.4
mainline). This may be what you're running into.

The bug IDs for this were CSCte95297 and CSCti80776 .

Fixes for it were integrated in earlier 15.0M builds which in turn means
15.1M and 15.2M also have the fixes.

The syntax for checking the QoS also changed - you need to use 'show
subscriber session' commands from then on to see if the policy has
applied and what, if any, drops are occurring. It was a source of
frustration that the old style 'show policy-map interface' commands
didn't work anymore after that but restoring the old CLI output was
considered an 'enhancement request' and I had no such luck getting that
bit fixed :-(

[c-nsp] Multicast packets dropping at 6509

2012-10-29 Thread Ambedkar
Hi,
I am facing a problem in multicast..
The scenario is like this, 2 layer-2 switches(2950) and 1 Layer-1
switch(cisco 6509).
These three switches are connected in series, L2-L3-L2. The problem is the
packets are dropping at L3(Cisco 6509) switch using catOS. The multicast
data is flowing in SAME vlan, means eventhough L3 is there in between, the
data is flowing at layer-2 only.

Please help me...

[c-nsp] Netflow issue

2012-10-29 Thread Hank Nussbacher

We used to collect full unsampled Netflow from two 7613 routers. Both ran
12.2(18)SXF11 and all was well.

We continue to get flow data as follows from the 12.2(18)SXF router:
Flow export v5 is enabled for main cache
  Exporting flows to xxx.139.197.76 (9800) xx.229.0.7 ()
  Exporting using source interface Loopback0
  Version 5 flow records, origin-as
35057147 flows exported in 1168572 udp datagrams

We upgraded the other 7613 to 12.2(33)SRE6 - and most of the flow data no
longer appears in our collector. Yet:

gp1#sho ip flow export
Flow export v5 is enabled for main cache
Export source and destination details :
  VRF ID : Default
Source(1) xxx.139.220.90 (Loopback0)
Destination(1) xxx.139.197.76 (9800)
  Version 5 flow records, origin-as
28312144 flows exported in 943738 udp datagrams
It appears like we should be getting flow data but we are not.

We have a very simple Netflow setup. On most GigE and 10GigE interfaces we
have defined:

ip flow ingress
and globally we have defined:
ip flow-cache entries 12
mls flow ip interface-full

This used to work pre-12.2(33)SRE. Something must have changed that we are
not aware of that needs to be defined. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Hank

[c-nsp] Aggregate bandwidth of a MLPPP bundle

2012-10-29 Thread RAZ MUHAMMAD
Hi,

I would like to have your feedback on the question that is often raised
about the combined throughput of a MLPPP bundle with asymetric DSL links. I
have come across quite a few documents claiming that the bundle will have
the combined bandwidth of all the links, but that mostly refers to
symmetric links in a bundle.

e.g. on a cisco 1941 router with 4 xDSL wics, 3 synching at 9Mbps and 1
syncing at 1 Mbps, what will be the total throughput of this bundle? will
it be 28 Mbps or 4 Mbps?

Thanks

Re: [c-nsp] Multicast packets dropping at 6509

Couple of things:

1) What is the TTL set on the packets? If it is set to 1, it won't cross a L3
boundry.
2) On the Layer 3 switches, what are the multicast settings on the L3
interfaces (pim sparse, pim dense, etc...)

Re: [c-nsp] Multicast packets dropping at 6509

2012-10-29 Thread null zeroroute
I'm familiar with a bug CSCsk07136 that was found about 4 years ago that
causes the multicast table to dump on a hybrid 6500 (catos) every time a
port in the same VLAN went down/up. Basically, all members of a group
would lose access to the group every time a port in the same VLAN, on the
same 6500, dropped. I believe the problem was fixed in a later release,
however we upgraded to native and no longer experienced the issue. The
only workaround was to statically assign hosts to the required groups.

Does the duplicate IP error show the MAC address of the conflicting
device? If so, what have you done to track it down on the network?

[c-nsp] LACP hello rate negotiation

2012-10-29 Thread Chuck Church
Anyone,

Been googling for an hour, can't find anything definitive.
Trying to go LACP between an ASR (using 2 built-in gig ports) and a switch
stack (3750 or 2960S). Would like to use the fast mode of LACP PDUs ('lacp
rate fast' on the ASR). This command doesn't seem to exist on the small
switches from what I can tell. If one side is configured with 'fast' and
the other isn't, will they negotiate to the faster speed, the slower speed,
or not at all? Or will they work, but with one side reacting in 3 seconds,
and the other in 90? Unfortunately I don't have a small switch at my
disposal to try it myself. The output of show lacp neigh leads me to
believe the other device requests your sending speed:

sh lacp 1 nei det

Flags: S - Device is requesting Slow LACPDUs

F - Device is requesting Fast LACPDUs

Anyone know for sure?

Thanks,

Chuck

This used to work pre-12.2(33)SRE. Something must have changed that we are

It's been a couple of years since I've run sxf, but I had an idea in the
back of my mind that I ran into something similar when upgrading, but that
it was easy enough to fix. Can you post the output of show run | i flow?
Also, are either of your flow destinations multicast addresses?

Re: [c-nsp] LACP hello rate negotiation

2012-10-29 Thread Phil Bedard
The local config determines the remote transmit interval but not all devices
support fast PDUs. They can be mismatched. This is from the spec not Ciscos
implementation persay.
