[cisco-voip] Upgrade from CallManager 8.6 to BE6000?
Can I upgrade from CallManager 8.6 to BE6000 running CallManager 9.1? I don't think I can do a DRS restore on BE6000 of their old CallManager 8.6? Can I ? Is that supported? I'm thinking I can use Bulk Administration Export to move a lot of existing data from 8.6 to 9.1. ___ cisco-voip mailing list cisco-voip@puck.nether.net https://puck.nether.net/mailman/listinfo/cisco-voip
Re: [cisco-voip] Upgrade from CallManager 8.6 to BE6000?
BE6000 is just regular CUCM so DRS Backup/Restore should work fine. BE5000 is where you need to Export/Import data via BAT. The only data I see in the CMR are the IP addresses of the endpoints and the payloadcapability. All the packets sent/received, jitter, latency, etc values are always just 'null'. Sample below. Does anyone have a version of Unity Connection up and running (8.6, 9.0, 9.1, 10.0?) with IMAP and SSL with Apple iOS 7.0+ devices (iPads, iPhones) and/or Mac OS X v10.9 Mavericks Mail.app clients? the older version of TLS found in v8.03 of unity connection prevents newer apple devices from using SSL with IMAP. see bug ID/Enhancement request - https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCuj82109 I'm trying to avoid forcing VPN connections with plain IMAP for those email clients. Re: [cisco-voip] Upgrade from CallManager 8.6 to BE6000?
DRS backup and restore is to/from the same version. So unless you upgrade the CUCM 8.6 to 9.1 first, you cannot use DRS. If you did however upgrade the CUCM 8.6 to 9.1 then you can. The BE6K is more of a marketing promotional bundle thing than it is really a hardware or software thing. If you were to go to CUCM 10.0, you have Prime Collaboration Deployment at your service. However, there's one small consideration... Real quick: If you don't spend much time on the Cisco Support Forums, I highly recommend it. There's even a forum specifically for UC Migrations where all kinds of questions are asked and issues are raised with the process. From ordering, to planning, to execution, to licensing, your question has likely already been asked. Take a look: https://supportforums.cisco.com/community/5426/uc-migrations On to the consideration I am talking about: For MCS7800 to BE migrations, the included virtualization license is not compatible with Cisco Prime Collaboration Deployment (PCD). Use FND, ST,ET,EP if you plan to use PCD *Source:* https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12164951/old-mcss-cucm-715-and-uccx-802-migrate-be6000-version-100 Here is the section within the PCD Release Notes stating the same: Cisco Prime Collaboration Deployment is not compatible with all license types of VMware vSphere ESXi, as some licenses do not enable required VMware APIs. *Source:* http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/rel_notes/PCD/CUCM_BK_PB8976C2_00_pcd_rns_1001/CUCM_BK_PB8976C2_00_pcd_rns_1001_chapter_01.html#CUCM_RF_VA37165C_00 In the above link, note the bullet item: - Evaluation mode license This is important because you can get around this limitation by downloading a trial license, and then rolling back when PCD is no longer needed. Here is a DocWiki link showing that the free Hypervisor option can be replaced with the Foundation license as a separate orderable SKU: *Source:* http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Unified_Communications_VMware_Requirements#Purchasing_.2F_Sourcing_Options_for_Required_Virtualization_Software I hope that helped.
