[Citizendium-l] New Managing Editor and reduced Council sizes
The new Managing Editor of Citizendium as of 1st July is Anthony Sebastian, M.D., Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. [Citizendium-l] Election update: nominations and referenda
The period for nominating people to elected positions and to propose referenda ends at midnight UTC on 27th July. An update: 1. So far, one nomination (for the Editorial Council) has been accepted and others are awaiting responses. You may have been nominated - check your Talk page, the Nominations page and your spam folders! http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Election_July-August_2013/Nominations To make nominations and to accept or decline yours, visit the page above. 2. As yet, there is no nominee for the post of Ombudsman. This nomination must be made by the Councils. 3. There are also three Council-initiated referenda that will appear on the ballot. All of these rewrite the Charter and so will require two-thirds majorities to pass: http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Election_July-August_2013/Referenda/1 [Merger of the Management and Editorial Councils] http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Election_July-August_2013/Referenda/2 [Nomination and Election of the Managing Editor] http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Election_July-August_2013/Referenda/3 [Nomination and Election of the Ombudsman] 4. There are two Citizen-initiated referenda (i.e. not proposed by the Councils) that will appear on the ballot, neither of which modify the Charter and so only require simple majorities to pass: http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Election_July-August_2013/Referenda/5 [Managing Editor non-voting membership of any governing Council] http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Election_July-August_2013/Referenda/6 [Permit Approval Managers to Approve Articles Under Specified Circumstances] Others may be submitted by 27th July. Only one supporter is required (i.e. the proposer). 5. Please note that referendum 4 has been rejected by the Managing Editor, as has a revised version (4a). A new version may still be submitted. Details: http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ_Talk:Election_July-August_2013/Referenda/4#Managing_Editor_rejects_this_referendum http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Election_July-August_2013/Referenda/4a http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ_Talk:Election_July-August_2013/Referenda/4a 6. [Citizendium-l] I'm happy to report that our recent fund-raising drive was successful!
All, My recent request for additional funds was quite successful! We brought in enough extra donations over the last two months to put us over the $1,500 average minimum balance that our bank requires to waive the monthly service charge. Last month, January 2017, was the first time in several years that the $12.00 service charge was not made. As I noted in my earlier message, even $12 represented more than 10% of our month outgo. So eliminating it is a fairly important step. I trust that we will now be able to keep our balance above the required figure!
