[Clamav-users] Feature Request

2005-03-17 Thread karlp
Has anyone considered or requested that the URL for upgrading Clamav might
be put in the notice the admin receives when the following message is
sent:

WARNING: Your ClamAV installation is OUTDATED - please update immediately!

I may just poke through the source code, but my time can be better spent
elsewhere...

This is NOT meant to be taken as a high priority. Keeping my servers clean
from viruses is significantly more important than worrying about whether I
have to type clamav.net in the URL field.

Thanks for not flaming me.

 2. I am using my 0.71 versions of clamav.conf and freschclam.conf. What am
I going to lose by doing this?

In the mean time, I'll go read the 0.75.1 conf files and see what I can
 pick out.

No differences in freshclam.conf, but clamav.conf had one change. Added it
and up and running.

Still, however %f does NOT tell me the file as 0.6n did. I now get
something, however. It passes 0.0 to me. I don't know why, it just
does. Do any of you know why? I'd really like to know what file is
infected. It's pretty useless as it is. I kicked off a clamdscan on / and
it chewed up system resources so badly I had to kill it...

Also, along that line, is there an option that will tell me where in an
email source file of, say 1.5MB, the virus is found? I've even resorted to
doing a cat f|wc then using head -|tail - but can't get
clandscan to work in that mode.

The current version 0.75.1 . 0.71 will NOT catch all current viruses so
 you
 should upgrade first.

Okay, upgrade complete. It took all of 25 minutes, including copying my
old config files from /etc. Clamav-milter still looks for the config file
in /etc instead of where 0.75.1 is looking for it (/usr/local/etc).

2 questions:

1. I did a soft link from /usr/local/etc/clamav.conf to /etc/clamav.conf
for clamav-milter. Is that going to be a problem? Will it affect
freshclam?

2. I am using my 0.71 versions of clamav.conf and freschclam.conf. What am
I going to lose by doing this?

In the mean time, I'll go read the 0.75.1 conf files and see what I can
pick out.

TIA,

Karl

[Clamav-users] send_sms passed parameters

2004-09-03 Thread karlp
I installed clamav a few months ago, then upgraded to version 0.71 soon
after.

I'm curious what happened to %f for send_sms to pass the location of the
file that is infected. Only the %v parameter is passed now. I would rather
know where a virus is than the name of the virus, if I have to choose.

Would upgrading to 0.75 return %f to me?
