[Clamav-users] upgrade from .65 to .80rc3-maxes out processor/never stops scanning!

2004-10-05 Thread John H.
I upgraded from .65 to .80rc3 on fedora core 2
machine(rpm from site), and I was told by a user of a
system I admin this morning, hours and hours later,
that clamav was using 100% cpu/ram.

I did ps auxw |grep clamav and saw the following

 ps aux |grep clam
root  5616  0.0  0.1  3808  552 ?S
04:03   0:00 awk -v
progname=/etc/cron.daily/clamnightly progname {?
print progname :\n?   progname=;
}   { print; }
root  5618 93.4  1.1  9612 5880 ?D
04:03 330:46 /usr/bin/clamscan -r -i -l
/share/CDM/virusscanner.log
david 6453  0.0  0.1  5080  584 pts/0S
09:57   0:00 grep clam

cat /etc/cron.daily/clamnightly
/usr/bin/freshclam --quiet -l /var/log/clam-update.log
/usr/bin/clamscan -r -i -l /share/CDM/virusscanner.log

what is the problem? The only non default option I
have in /etc/clamd.conf is
LogFile /share/CDM/virusscanner.log

thanks

None of rpm packages linked from clamav.net (crash-hat, dag, olivier)
comes with file
'/etc/cron.daily/clamnightly'.

Your system is messed up or you installed different 3rd party package.

2004-10-05 Thread John H.
my system is not messed up, and I did not install a
3rd party package. I clearly explained the contents
of clamnightly, which simply runs clamscan and
freshclam every night

 cat /etc/cron.daily/clamnightly
/usr/bin/freshclam --quiet -l /var/log/clam-update.log
/usr/bin/clamscan -r -i -l /share/CDM/virusscanner.log
