Does anyone know of a C&C 39 owner in the Toronto area? A fellow 39er is
looking for one to take some measurements on  up there-

Thanks,

(used) jack stands for her winter stay in my back yard based on that. I
just had her delivered and found out my stands are too short. I was able to
recover gracefully from that little faux pas with the help of my yard who
were willing to trade for the correct size. After the dust settled I did
some measuring to find out where I went wrong. Having just been hauled she
has a well-defined water line. I measured the actual draft and found it to
be closer to 6? 6?. Is it possible that the keel was either extended or
replaced by a PO? Do owners do such things? It is still a fin keel but I
noticed it has a different shape than the shape shown on the C&C
specifications document for the boat. The specifications are for a custom ?
ton but could there have been optional keels available? I will attempt to
attach a pic. There is real experience!

Bob,
I think we met after the Boat Show? I just checked out and like your blog and
I'm impressed. Very well done.

As an HVACR mechanic, Facilities Superviser, and Project Manager for 40 plus
years, I appreciate your engineering background.
You guys dream it up. Someone else, a low bid contractor installs it, his way.
And I have to live with the end users and actually make it all work. I consider
myself a "Re-Engineer".

Hope to get together and share more stories, a few beers or wine in the future
when I check on my boat near Annapolis this winter?

2014-11-21 Thread Joe Della Barba via CnC-List
That boat has some interesting features. The lowers normally spread out fore
and aft, so the baby-stay and check stays must be compensating for that. The
baby-stay going through the middle of the V-berth kind of makes that boat a
tough sell to anyone wanting to sleep up there. The forward water tank
appears to be missing, as does the stove. 13 HP is a bit light in the HP
department too. This is going to be a tough sell for anyone not 100% a
racer.

Not so unusual for C&C in the early 80s to have babystay, checks & inline
shrouds on a masthead rig, bendy in the day. That mast looks like it might
be a Kenyon and is defiantly not the original extrusion that I have.

So this ol' girl is a mature CCA based design "updated" with mature IOR
go-fast thinking. I like her.
If I win Lotto tonight then she might come to Canada's Wet Coast for a bit

BTW, do you think 1970 is correct?

Stus-List Annual sailing invite

2014-11-21 Thread Jean-Francois J Rivard via CnC-List

 Same here.

Anyone wants a sailing fix in the winter and happen to come to the Atlanta
Ga area let me know in advance and I'll do my best to make it happen.

As an example of winter sailing here: I'm off all next week and going
sailing Monday / Tuesday. Cloudy Monday / sunny Tuesday with winds
expected to be in the teens gusting to mid 20's temps in the high 50's -
low 60's. We can expect that kind of weather all the way 'till the
beginning of spring (Late Feb-early March).

It can get a bit spotty from late November on but we typically get at
least a couple Saturdays / Sundays per month where it's fine sailing
 weather all winter long.

 Stay warm :-)

How good are you at hanging sheetrock, painting, installing crown molding
and grouting tile? :)

I think those are actually check stays rather than running backs based on the
angle.

I don't think I have ever seen a listing with so many pictures. Some kind of
new record. The boat looks good but the hatch behind mast seems different and
maybe too large?

Some interesting features for a 35-1...inboard shrouds, running backs.

Re: Stus-List Draft

2014-11-21 Thread Burt Stratton via CnC-List
That makes sense as this boat is supposed to be a modified 33-1. Same hull and
sail plan but with a modified deck and interior layout. Maybe they also used
different keels. From what I have been able to find, there were very few of the
¾ ton customs made (maybe 3) and they were made in their custom shop, not as a
production model.

The keel on your boat looks much more modern than that in the specs. That said
“more modern” is more of a late 70’s very early 80svintage so is possible that
it came that way I suppose. The keel on the line drawing looks a lot more like
a C&C 33-1

Burt,

The brochure for the later 33 shows 3 keels. It is unlikely that someone
modified the keel, but it is not unheard of. Better chance that there were
factory options.

it possible that the keel was either extended or replaced by a PO? Do owners do
such things? It is still a fin keel but I noticed it has a different shape than
the shape shown on the C&C specifications document for the boat. The
specifications are for a custom ¾ ton but could there have been optional keels
available? I will attempt to attach a pic. There is real experience on this
