This year I ordered a ‘performance cruising’ radial cut #2 Genoa from rolly
tasker sails in Thailand - second sail from them, no regrets at all.

I bought a mount from West marine. I plan to mount it on an 8 ft 5" pvc pipe.

I'm quite interested in this question as well, I bought a Raymarine Quantum 2
and am debating how to mount it. Supposed to be safer regarding zapping people.

Garhauer makes a nice looking stern-mount radar mast, it allows you to set the
angle when on a tack, not a gimbal. But they told me they're delivery time is a
least four weeks right now, can't get materials.

Anyone build a radar tower as DIY?

I like that option better than a mast mount if it's viable. Just make sure
the antenna is high enough that it's not zapping people standing on the bow
or by the mast!

2021-07-10 Thread Martin DeYoung via CnC-List
Calypso has a radar mast on the stern. It has worked well for the last 20
years. We included a “tilt” function to compensate for heel angle on long racks.

On our last boat, a C 36 (1980) we installed a Questus backstay pole which
also worked well.

I do recommend make a stern mount high enough to avoid getting hit in the back
of the head by the radar transmitter energy.

You may want to consider getting an estimate using deform or even 1X19 wire vs
rod and see what that comes to.Just a thought.

2021-07-10 Thread Robert Mazza via CnC-List
JohnKelly,

Magnificent! There are photos and drawings in this collection that I have
never seen before. The 1961 preliminary drawing for Paul Phelan raises all
sorts of "what if" questions. Clipper bow, indeed. The 1963 preliminary for
Kroger also raises possibility questions. I'm particularly interested in
the photos of* Red Jacket* after her 1980s upgrades, Were these taken when
Paul Phelan owned her, or later when the late Peter Milligan had her? The
shot of *Sorcery's* cockpit looking aft shows Bruce Kirby at the helm. The
shot of the interior of *Red Jacket's *plug is also fascinating and never
seen before. I also see a young Rob Ball in those group photos on S*orcery.*

Great stuff. Many thanks for sharing. Thanks as well for mentioning the C
drawing digitization program at the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes at
Kingston. I should also mention that *Red Jacket's* arrival at the Marine
Museum continues to be frustrated by Covid related delays.
