Sarah

We loved our stay at Kevin and Lisa’s house. Communication was excellent.
They even checked in with us a couple of times during our stay to see how
we were doing and if we needed anything. The spacious house is located a
block from the main street in White Salmon. It’s very nicely decorated,
beds are comfortable as is the whole house. We would definitely stay here
again. White Salmon is a tiny town but with some great food. Make sure you
visit the local bakery!
Sarah’s private feedback for you:

“We loved our stay! Thank you for being so communicative hosts. Great
house, great location, really nice design, and and very comfortable! Given
your attention to detail, there are a couple of things you might like to
know... the pots and pans are in a bit of disarray. The single skillet
which has a non-stick surface, was pretty scratched up. Only one pot had a
lid that fit, the other lids were kind of random and one was broken. Some
of the pots also not super clean. Also, the utensil drawer was kind of
dirty. Otherwise the house was spotless, and these observations are just
for you.”

Now that you’ve both written reviews, we’ve posted them to your Airbnb
profiles.

While Sarah’s feedback can’t be changed or removed, you can write a
response that will appear directly below it.

Exactly. If you don't have salvage coverage, you can get royally screwed.
Happened to a buddy of mine last year in Hurricane Sally.

His boat was moored at Barber Marine on the ICW at Orange Beach, AL. You'd
think it was fairly protected. No. The wind was such that there was a lot of
fetch and consequently significant wave action. The marina was essentially
destroyed. He managed to visit a day or two after the storm and saw his boat
afloat and not in bad shape. He tried to visit a second time a few days later
and was denied entry. Meanwhile, according to him, a powerboat somehow damaged
his sailboat enough to sink it. He was in the process of arranging for a
salvor to raise it when he was informed by the marina that they had raised it
and presented him with a bill around $20,000.

He had to hire a marine lawyer to negotiate a settlement with the marina
somewhat less than $20K. He ended up with a much reduced settlement on the
boat after the salvage cost was subtracted. Ugly situation.

I have salvage coverage. Here's the applicable clause from Touche's policy:

"We will also pay necessary salvage charges. This is an additional amount of
insurance. But it will not exceed the amount stated on the Declarations Page
for Section l."

BOATUS used to have superb coverage and the claim I had with them was handled

policies with them, one for Coquina, one for the dinghy, and one for the
Whaler. There was some deal where the dinghy could be included with the mother
ship, but I heard it was better not to do this because of something with the
deductible. I can’t recall the details, but the cost for the two small boats
is maybe $200 or so per year for both of them.

This issue came up when I moved from Travelers to Progressive this past spring.
I went through a local Erie Insurance agent, where I have home and car
insurance. When I realized how much Travelers had increased its premium over
three years (without apparent justification), I called my Erie Insurance agent
to see if Erie has gotten into boat insurance. It still has not, but my agent
brokered a deal with Progressive. One of the policy differences between the
Travelers and Progressive policies is Progressive’s lower amount of liability
coverage. My Erie agent advised this was of no consequence because of my
umbrella policy with Erie.
