My boat came with port and starboard lockers. The propane tank, pressure
gauge and regulator are in the port locker. The starboard locker is also
hinged with a thru hull, but it isn't completely sealed.

Our 29-2 came with the port locker lid glued down. I cut the hardened
mastic with a hacksaw blade, cut a hole in the top of the space, cleaned up
the lid and added a piano hinge, and used the space for hanging bags of
empty cans, etc. There was a capped through-hull down below which had never
been used. Our current boat has the starboard locker lid glued down, and so
far I haven't been motivated to repeat the process, which is long and
convoluted. The 35 does not have a factory through-hull below the locker,
and neither boat had a proper propane locker in place under the glued lid.

I had a closer look today using a mirror on a stick through the port in the
back of the quarter berth and it appears that it was designed to be a locker
but a hole was never cut in the top of the port side corner seat.   The
"lid" seems to be glued onto the top of the seat with Sikaflex or similar
that will have to be cut through with a long blade.  I was able to insert a
kitchen knife between the lid and the top of the locker, but the 40 year old
Sikaflex has hardened.  Maybe when it warms up a bit more it will soften and
I will be able to cut it.

My 1974 C 35 Mk2 still has the original three burner pressure alcohol 
stove with oven, which is very tired and needs replacement.  I believe a 
previous owner of Callisto had the boat modified for Propane, since 
propane stoves are not listed as an option on 1974 C 35 price list - I 
may be wrong though.  Do you have any photos of your lockers and could 
you describe the plumbing for the propane stove with make and model of 
the stove? Any info would be helpful when I haul out the old stove/oven.

My guess is that the second locker locker was an option.  You paid for the 
labor and parts to install the lid and its drain.   You might be able to 
fabricate a locker but results may vary...

hull above water line same as on starboard.  Assuming you have the through hull 
on the outside on port, I would guess that a previous owner glued/painted the 
lid down and you just need to pry it open.  The hinges are symmetric about the 
helm seat on my boat.

Dennis:

If you will open the port tank locker, you will notice that the hinge is
not visible on the outside. My 1981 C 34 has a storage locker on the port
side of the helm. The locker also contains a wash down spray nozzle and is
vented to the atmosphere. Try prying the lid open.

If you are looking for backup propane storage, let me offer a suggestion.  I
only can carry one tank and have a 5 kg fiberglass tank.  Theoretically, you
can see the level in the tank but have to remember to check it.  There is
room in my propane locker for three 1 pound camp stove cylinders.  I bought
an adaptor

For me this is especially good since my propane grille and outboard use the
