Re: Stus-List Anyone remove the helm seat?
my solution was to buy one of those folding wheels; I love it and have kept it through three different boats...it solves all of the issues mentioned in previous emails, and you don't have to take it off and store it... I love the looks I get from the power boaters when I start unfolding it...they go Wh? Richard 1985 C&C 37 CB; Ohio River Mile 584; Richard N. Joel Helm seat is out on my boat. Can't imagine having it in as it is so tight behind wheel. Have a huge (44"?) wheel that allows easy steering from the sides (though is a PIA to get around). So I will either stand behind wheel or sit on either coaming feet on seats. You can sit/lean behind the wheel on either side of backstay. The rudder stock doesn't really impact as your feet are in front of it. Otto is usually driving on long motors and if you are sailing you sit to the sides anyway to see telltales.. looks like PO got a couple of short stainless handrails that matched the hole pattern of the helm seat to finish off the sides of the propane lockers where the helm seat went. Re: Stus-List Anyone remove the helm seat?
All, Whoever had Gabriela before me made the seat easy to remove with a couple of pins (4)… just pop them out and the seat is removed and stored in the port-aft locker. When at the dock it’s in with a cushion on it…when off the dock for an extended period we leave it on so there is extra sitting room in the cockpit. When just a short sail we take it off to have more room. Re: Stus-List Anyone remove the helm seat?
On my 29 mark1: 1. Removed seat. 2. Redesigned pushpit curved down with swim access walk through, no gate. 3. Platform extending into and out of boat large enough width room and fore/aft length to fit the WM mega blue boat seat. This raised me up enough to see and sit in secured comfort when heeled. Swim ladder folds up providing secure restraint and backing for the seat with short strops to pushpit on wash side of ladder 4. BIG wheel so that I can sail from the rail. Smaller when lashed to Bimini frame as an option on trips. Both wheels lashed to Bimini for Marina and swimming. I also redid the engine panel by necessity. This one also has a bank of breakers for Nav lights, instruments, instrument lights, etc etc. Don Viking 34 C&C 29 for sail on aluminum trailer > On Jul 23, 2014, at 12:00 PM, Tim Goodyear via CnC-List > wrote: > > Joel, I've been thinking of doing this - let me know how you get on. Joel: I did it last year on my 38MKIIC.much more room, the cockpit can accommodate it and I like to sail from the lower leeward side to see telltales………..I find it much more agreeable Ron C.
