Re: Stus-List Insurance Provider?

2020-08-12 Thread Matthew via CnC-List
Dean:

We have had extensive discussions on this list about the Boat US
(GEICO) policy that contains a provision greatly reducing the value of things
like masts on older boats. Steer clear of such policies for a 1980 boat.
Because of this, I ended going with Travelers, which was helpful and responsive.

Subject: Stus-List Insurance Provider?

I‘m in process of purchasing a 1980 C 34 but I’m being held up by insurance
provider.

My broker (specializing in marine insurance) has sent the clean survey and all
details to the insurance provider. Was supposed to be 2 days for approval… it’s
now stretching into 4 days and we can’t get a response from provider. I can’t
do a deal unless I know I can get vessel insured. Any insurers/brokers that you
think are great and responsive so I can get this deal done?

A little leery of trying the online quote-and-go options but maybe I should?
Any good redo’s?

I’m in Halifax, Nova Scotia if that matters.

Stus-List Insurance provider

2020-08-12 Thread Adam via CnC-List
DeanI am in Pictou.  My previous insurer didn't want to renew because of the age of the boat.   My agent found another insurer pretty quick.   Try AA Munro out if Antigonish. I deal with Kim.  I should mention though  that one of the perils not covered was damage caused by nuclear waste or weapons.   I was ok with that risk.I don't have her contact details as we are currently sailing back from the Bras D'Or lakes after a 2 week cruise.Adam HaydenC 36 State of BlissPictou NS___

Try MCTI in Bridgewater. They have several alternative marine providers. I
use Intact thru MCTI for the past few seasons and they were EXTREMELY SLOW in
sending out renewals and other documents. I think this is a Covid thing. I
have been working with April Whynot at MCTI
