Stus-List Raymarine EVO 100 wheel pilot with B and G

2016-05-03 Thread Jean-Francois J Rivard via CnC-List
Hi Bob,

As I understand it the Evo 100 should be plug and play to your NMEA 2000
backbone as far as receiving speed, depth, wind and bearing info.
Likewise, your Triton displays should also be able to benefit from the
magnetic heading capabilities of the Evo package.

Unfortunately, should you decide to get a B&G Zeus chartplotter, it will
not recognize the Evo's steering computer to integrate with the B&G
built-in SailSteer and other built-in autopilot functions. Going the other
way around, the Eve should however have no problem getting the bearing
information from a B&G chartplotter and follow a route accordingly.

I am about to install a Raymarine EVO 100 wheel pilot on my 29 mark 2. The
speed, depth and wind instruments are B & G Triton. Does anyone know if
these 2 systems are "plug & play" compatible re the NEMA 2000 systems? Can
I connect the wheel pilot to my existing backbone cable?

Hi Bob

You can, and it should be surprisingly painless. I've got a bridge
between one of my Triton displays and the p70 autopilot head using one
of these cables:

You can also connect backbone to backbone if the cable routing is
easier. Just make sure you get the right ends!
