The Vendee is really getting interesting.  Yannick Besthaven is splitting
with the leaders and heading north of the Azores.  Might be more wind
strength there.

Four of the lead pack have gone south of the Azores.  Two more are heading
north but could still turn east.  It's all about their weather routers now.

Stus-List Vendee Globe tightens up

The Vendee Globe race is getting exciting now.  After leading for a couple
weeks, Besthaven sailed into some light winds and several boats in the
chasing pack closed the gap.  Now Dalin is leading by just a few miles with
Besthaven about 10 nm behind.

After racing more than 23,000 nm, the top 6 boats are separated by less
than 100 nm!  Here is the link to the tracker:

Be sure and add the wind layer by clicking the "Weather Forecast" symbol on
the right side bar.

Stus-List Vendee Globe strategy

Might be interesting to watch the leaders' strategies now.

Looks like Besthaven wants to head well east to catch the southerlies from
a big high pressure system in the mid southern Atlantic.

Dalin, on the other hand, might be angling more northward to utilize a
couple of small low pressure systems just off the coast of Argentina.

I think I like Dalin's strategy if, indeed, that's what he's doing.

But it’s like comparing a sporty drive on a winding mountain road in a nice 
roadster to an F1 race. Kind of the same, but not really.
