Re: Stus-List Yanmar tach issue
Make sure the ground is good by rigging a jumper to bypass the wiring harness. If tach works then troubleshoot by cleaning ground stud and terminals at engine. If that doesn’t work verify continuity through the ground wire. I had exactly this issue, replaced the tach, then determined that the ground was oxidized. Cleaned that up, returned the tach, (thankfully) it’s been good since. Basics first. Good luck. Thanks for the help. Found a bad connector. Old tach works like a champ. Now not to next project, new windlass. Doug Mountjoy Sv Rebecca Leah C LF39253-208-1412Port Orchard YC wa. Hall effect switch at the flywheel sounds to be working. You might use an o-scope to verify clean and consistent square wave. Tach is a pulse counter and integrator. It will need power (+12v and GND) and a pulse. Verify pulse is making it there at the same amplitude as at the flywheel. Verify power.
