[cobirds] White-eyed Vireo - South Platte Park (Arapahoe County)

2016-11-25 Thread Ben Sampson
Hi Colorado Birders.

>From 3:30 to 5:00 PM today I visited South Platte Park. This was after
dipping on the nearby Chestnut-sided Warbler, as well as Chatfield's Snow
Bunting. I was wanting to see something good. Anyway, along the Mary Carter
Greenway Trail, about 70 - ish feet after it intersects with the trail to
Bufflehead Lake, I found a WHITE-EYED VIREO. It was in a willow along the
river. It did not associate with any other birds. It moved a few bushes
down. I lost it for a couple minutes, then found it about 20 feet up the
river. It flew away, a few minutes later I refound it at its original
location. My ebird report has another photo of the bird, along with a more
in depth description of its location. Here is my ebird report:
http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S32718677

I apoligize that this photo is not great, but it is the best I have.

2016-11-25 Thread Libby Edwards
A flock of Sandhill cranes was spotted by us northeast of Fort Collins near
the Budweiser plant, about 50 of them, and at 10:30 am. Would it take them
3 hours to get to north Boulder? They were circling, trying to get some up
lift. Also saw a kettle of about 4 red-tailed hawks and 2 bald eagles at
the same time.

[cobirds] Ken Caryl Valley this morning - Nor. Goshawk, Gray Catbird

2016-11-25 Thread David Suddjian
A juv. *Northern Goshawk* was soaring and flapping near my home early this
morning, with an adult female *Sharp-shinned Hawk* in nearly the same
airspace just minutes later. I was surprised to have a late *Gray Catbird*
along Massey Draw below my home. It called a lot (I managed an iPhone
recording) and offered glimpses peering back at me from within a thicket.
The last highlight of the morning before I went in to work was a group
of *Evening
