[cobirds] Red-throated Loon - Larimer

2019-05-04 Thread David Wade
A Red-throated Loon was seen on Cobb Lake this afternoon. This private
reservoir on Co Rd 56 is viewable only from the road or the SWA parking
lot. The loon was well concealed in a group of Western Grebes a few hundred
meters from the road. It was difficult to see well but when it wasn't
preening, facing the right way and the light was right, the red throat
could be seen.

Cole Wild and I scanned the Lake from the Northeast side for about half an hour

2016-04-16 Thread Nick Komar
Dave Wade spotted a breeding plumaged Red-throated Loon opposite Boyd Lake
State Patk north most parking area (Willows Landing). The bird has not moved
much in the last half hour. Entrance fee. Scope needed.

[cobirds] Red-throated Loon, Larimer County - NOT

I was able to view this loon this morning in ideal viewing conditions, and
determined that it was a Pacific Loon. Sorry for the false alarm.

A juv Red-throated Loon was on a private lake on the west side of Fort Collins
today, found by Nick Panella. I will check to see if it still present in the
