Re: [CODE4LIB] C4L2012 Hackfest
I'm interested as well, but I agree with David. In fact, I think that the judicious use of Git would be a big boon to hackfests in general. This goes for getting hackers up and running quickly when enhancing/contributing to existing projects, facilitates collaboration during the session, and also allows for future contributions to hackfest projects long after the conference ends. Is there a way that these can be piggybacked or combined? Recently learned Git commands would be reinforced by actually using them during a hacking session. -Shaun On 11/8/11 2:43 PM, David Uspal wrote: I'm also interested, though it's a tough choice between this and the Git session... -- Shaun D. Is there a way that these can be piggybacked or combined? Recently learned Git commands would be reinforced by actually using them during a hacking session. I think it would be awesome for the Hackfest to include learning sessions such as Gitfest and R-fest. Would it be a good idea to have part of the morning for learning sessions, say from 9-11, then move onto some hacks? If we can get a room from 9-5 we'd have enough time, I think. Would anyone volunteer to do a learning session on open ILS and Drupal at the Hackfest? Jason
Re: [CODE4LIB] C4L2012 Hackfest
I would be happy to do a session on Drupal, but I think that really learning Git, as opposed to learning the bare number of commands you need to survive, is a really good idea. I think that it also might be more valuable to do a Drupal qa discussion than a class. I also think that the Gitfest bridges the gap between a class on a topic and the hacking part of a hackfest, where folks get together to actually build or fix something.
