Reporting to the Head of Digital Library Initiatives, the Digital and Web
Services Librarian serves a dual role. S/he coordinates the Library's web
presence, working collaboratively with staff throughout the library system;
takes a leadership role in developing digital projects and services that serve
the needs of faculty and students, particularly in the realm of digital
objects publication and management, using tools like Omeka. Performs other
duties as assigned.

  
Required Education and Experience:

ALA accredited Master's degree in Library Science, and at least two years of
relevant experience.

  
Required Skills and Abilities:

  * Demonstrated experience with a Content Management System, such as Drupal.
  * Experience with metadata standards such as Dublin Core, and one or more of 
the following: HTML/CSS, XML/XSLT, a programming language such as PhP, database 
design and development.
  * Experience guiding scholars, students, and/or staff in the development of 
digital projects and websites, preferably including the digitization, 
publication, and management of digital objects.
  * Demonstrated project management and team leadership skills.
  * Understanding of the role of digital projects for the purpose of research 
and education.
  * Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative environment, and 
across multiple departments.
  * Awareness of scholarly communication issues and basic familiarity with 
copyright issues.
  * Excellent oral and written communication skills along with the ability to 
effectively communicate with a diverse group of individuals.

Preferred:

  * Experience developing and managing large websites, including managing 
stakeholders' expectations, and producing ADA-compliant sites.
  * Experience teaching the use of platforms such as Drupal, Omeka, or 
Wordpress.
  * Experience digitizing and editing images, text, video, audio, and other 
formats and delivering them on the web.
  * Experience in an academic library setting.

**Job Summary:**  
The Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is seeking a
team builder with technical skills and vision to oversee the continued growth
of the Bank's leadership role as a provider of historical digital
content. The Research Department hosts the FRASER Digital
Library and Archive
([http://fraser.stlouisfed.org](http://fraser.stlouisfed.org)) of historic
banking and economic materials. This digital library was
created in 2004, and has grown to over 40,000 documents. It
generated 87,600 visits in the past year. At this time, it
is the largest collection of its type in the Federal Reserve
System. In late 2013-2014, the System will be creating a
System Centennial website which will draw on this collection as well as
generate additional materials.

  
This position will continue to build the FRASER brand by facilitating
connections and partnerships that improve content, access, and delivery to
enhance digital scholarship. In cooperation with other
Research Department members, Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis staff and by
developing System wide contacts, the coordinator will:

* Research, analyze, and recommend additional FRASER content  
* Suggest and help implement functional improvements and functionality  
* Build collegial relationships with other Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis 
staff, as well as staff at other Reserve Banks and the Board of Governors,

External Overview:

The Manuscripts and Archives Division is offering an internship to aid the
Digital and Project Archivists for the Timothy Leary Papers for the fall term
to students from a Master's program in librarianship, archival studies, or
preservation with an interest in the born digital materials in the papers.

  
The Papers document the life of Timothy Francis Leary (b. 1920, d. 1996),
American psychologist and Harvard professor, who, through his studies
regarding the use of psilocybin and LSD, went on to become an advocate for
mind-altering drugs, eastern philosophy, sexual liberation, cyberspace and the
cyberpunk genre. He was a prolific writer, lecturer, and counterculture icon
(1960s - 1990s). The Papers contain material from notable figures, such as
Richard Alpert (aka Ram Dass), William S. Burroughs, David Bryne, Larry
Flynt, Allen Ginsberg, Keith Haring, Gerald Heard, Abbie
and Anita Hoffman, Albert Hofmann, Aldous and Laura Huxley, Jack Kerouac, Art
Kleps, and G. Gorden Liddy. The Papers include over a hundred floppy disks
created or collected by Leary in a variety of formats.

  
External Responsibilities:

The digital intern for the Timothy Leary Papers will assist the Digital
Archivist in performing preservation imaging of removable media and the
extraction and analysis of metadata from the created images. The intern will
also work with the Project Archivist of the Leary papers in making appraisal
and description recommendations on the materials using digital forensics tools
and technologies. The digital archives intern may assist in the imaging and
processing of other collections being processed in the Manuscripts  Archives
Division.

  
The ideal candidate for the digital internship will have a thorough
understanding of archival theory, familiarity with aspects of computer
sciences as they relate to archives (metadata, databases etc.) and must be
extremely detailed oriented.

  
External Qualifications:

Hours Requirements

Timeframe: 120 hours over 12 weeks

Schedule: 10 hours per week (All interns must commit to schedule at least four
hours on one day; otherwise hours are flexible).

Working hours: Monday - Friday: 9:00am - 5:00pm.

Library's Cataloging/Metadata Department in designing, implementing, and

position ending on December 31, 2014. The incumbent reports to the Project

Duties:

  
Capturing high-resolution digital images of illuminated manuscripts using
existing digitization equipment, exhibiting competent handling skills for
fragile materials and strong knowledge of digital imaging theory and practice

Performing color correction, quality control, and processing of images

Conducting data transfers using established protocols and overseeing delivery
of images and metadata to digital repositories

Entering metadata into a purpose-built cataloging tool and ensuring its
integrity throughout a complex workflow

Requirements:

  
Bachelor's degree and at least two years demonstrated experience in handling
works of art; preference will be given to applicants with manuscript handling
experience. Familiarity with digital photographic principles and practice,

Purpose of the job: The Document Management Officer works in the Records and
Archives team, under the supervision of the Document Management Supervisor.
The job holder shares operational responsibility for centralised records and
archives management at the BIS, working in line with applicable policies and

responsibility for specific tasks in the areas of quality assurance and work
process improvement.

  
Principal accountabilities:

• Ensure the timely processing (registration, scanning, distribution, filing)
of all incoming and outgoing correspondence (mail, fax, e-mail), as well as
defined internal records, in line with applicable policies and using the
Bank's electronic document management system;

• Maintain the Bank's paper and electronic files securely and in good order,
ensuring that they can be searched and accessed in line with applicable

• Take primary responsibility for specific Records and Document Management

Summary

  
The Canadian Writing Research Collaboratory virtual research environment's
system will rely on the quality of the data it contains. While the CWRC
platform is being developed, data entry will begin using Orlando's existing
systems and protocols. Within that system, the Data Integrity and Metadata
Coordinator will have primary responsibility for data quality control and for
contributing substantially to the development of metadata and workflow
management within the Collaboratory system. As the Collaboratory moves into
testing and production mode, the activity of this team member will shift from
the cleanup, monitoring, and disambiguation of materials and participation in
specifications and development of the Collaboratory, to the evaluation, beta-
testing and documentation of the new automated systems within CWRC. The
position involves assisting with the supervision of project employees,
including graduate research assistants and employees of the Arts Resource
Centre.

  
Duties

  
A major responsibility of the Data Integrity and Metadata Coordinator is to
ensure the integrity of encoded materials in the developing CWRC
system. S/he will play a key role in the design of the
entity management system for CWRC in order to provide a single point of
reference for which all people, places, organizations, titles, and
bibliographical records will refer. Providing expertise and
guidance in metadata standards and management, s/he will develop metadata
crosswalks to ensure the interoperability of CWRC materials and their
metadata. S/he will develop, implement, and document XML
schemas and advise the development team to ensure metadata standards are
incorporated into the repository content model. In this
position, the successful candidate will initiate suggestions for
functionalities, develop scenarios describing the functionalities in use, and
play a central role in the development of those specifications for tools to
automate the production system. In addition, s/he will
oversee data conversion to appropriate formats for CWRC. As
a part of CWRC's ongoing development, the successful candidate will test, make
recommendations, and assist with the integration of various digital tools,
such as mapping and timelining. Also, s/he will work with
members of the larger team to test, develop, and improve various CWRC
interfaces, including input pages, search pages, and other sites of user
interactivity. In conjunction with programming team, s/he will also take a
lead role in prototyping spatial interfaces, evaluating possible software
solutions, and developing specifications for the spatial visualization

This position requires a Master's degree in Library and Information Science,
or a bachelor's degree and five years of progressively responsible information
technology experience. The Manager works closely with librarians,
administrators, and academic technology staff across the CSU to identify
institutional repository needs. The incumbent will also
manage the work of consultants and campus IT staff in the implementation and
support of systemwide institutional repository and discovery projects, and
therefore requires: 5+ years of experience working in university libraries or
academic technology departments; experience in designing, delivering, and
maintaining web applications in support of academic libraries; knowledge of
and experience working with library systems, with a preference given to
experience working with institutional repository systems; knowledge of and
experience working with library metadata standards and protocols, including

the Library website in cooperation with the College web administrator.

  
Provide information services to the College community during scheduled hours

Implement a system of collection development which integrates materials in
paper, electronic and other appropriate formats. Use regular evaluations of
the collection, including needs analysis done in conjunction with departmental

Use collection development, evaluation and periodic weeding to maintain a
current collection within assigned subject areas and contribute to the
Library's collection as a whole.

  
Assist the Reference Librarian in the annual collection evaluation, which
includes a collection analysis of current materials, corresponding to program

Act as library liaison with assigned divisions and attend regularly scheduled
division meetings.

  
Serve as second floor Floor Captain as required by the College Risk Management

The Cornell University Library is seeking an Art History Image Cataloger.
Under the direction of the Discovery Metadata Librarian and the administrative
supervision of the CMS Administrative Supervisor, creates original metadata
records for art history visual resources following the appropriate
international standards and CUL policies. This work includes the creation of
name, subject, location, and other headings for use in these records, as well
the assignment of appropriate subject headings and classification based on
complex subject analysis of the resources. Determines the relative priority
of, and the type of cataloging needed for materials in the CUL digital image
collections. Maintains liaison with the relevant public services and
collection development staff for visual resources, as well as effective
working relationships with colleagues in Library Technical Services and
throughout the Library and University.

This is a full time, one year term position.

  
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience or training in Art History or
related field. Ability to exercise considerable judgment and self-direction on
matters related to image cataloging. Ability to work well alone, with minimal
supervision, and in groups. Knowledge of at least one Western European foreign
language.

Consistency in and aptitude for detailed work. Good interpersonal, writing and
communication skills. Preferred: One to two years image cataloging experience,
preferably in a research library. Advanced degree in Art History.

Excellent knowledge of image database software (ARTstor, SharedShelf, and LUNA
preferred). Knowledge of VRA Core or other non-MARC metadata, and authorities
formats. Knowledge of current metadata trends and ability to understand image
cataloging within this context. Ability to provide on-the-job
training/guidance to others who do similar work. Demonstrated experience
working with relational databases.

The Earl Gregg Swem Library seeks a creative and enthusiastic individual to
lead the Special Collections Research Center consisting of six full-time and
two part-time staff members, over twenty undergraduate and graduate students,
and over twenty volunteers. The 25,000 square foot Warren E. Burger wing of
Swem Library opened in 2005 and houses over one million manuscripts,
documenting Virginia and American history, more than 45,000 rare books, a
growing international collection, university archives and the papers of Chief
Justice Warren E. Burger. In addition to serving a wide range of national and
international researchers, Special Collections is an integral part of
undergraduate instructions in a wide range of academic disciplines. The staff
works closely with faculty to ensure primary resources are part of the
students' research experience as demonstrated by the number of students and
classes that utilize the collections each semester.

  
The Marian  Alan McLeod Director of the Special Collections Research Center
reports to the Dean of University Libraries and is responsible for
administering the department and its budget, and providing leadership and
vision for the staff, including: planning and policy Development, collection
development, and the expansion of digital initiatives. The Director provides
instruction and outreach to students, faculty and the community at large and
works collaboratively with development staff to engage the community and
promote the collections. The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding
of emerging technologies and how they expand access to local collections. As a
member of the Library's senior management team, the Director will be a member
of the Dean's Council, and regularly work with Associate Deans and other
library leaders.

  
This is a non-tenure track professional faculty position with a competitive
salary that is commensurate with experience. Benefits include 24 days of
annual leave per year in addition to 12 paid holidays.

- Master's degree from an accredited program in library and information

This post is based within the Division's Development Group, but will work
closely with colleagues in others teams and with specialists from the Genizah

The exciting role involves: processing and mining existing metadata, extensive
citation data, and the full texts of books and articles to generate

for 34 years at Mote Marine Laboratory. Its collection is maintained for the
support of marine research and education. The library is currently engaged in
an archives grant project funded by The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations. It
involves the library's special collections and includes basic processing,
arrangement and description of the materials, preservation activities, and
increasing accessibility to the collections.

  
As part of the project, pertinent items in the collection are being digitized
and added to Mote's Institutional Repository, DSpace. One of the special
collections consists of the hand-written field journals from the early 1900s
of a prominent ichthyologist, Charles M. Breder, Jr. The library plans to
transcribe these hand-written journals/manuscripts,

digitize them, and add them to DSpace using descriptive metadata. The library
is seeking an intern to assist with this project, especially the transcription
of the manuscripts.

  
Internship activities include: transcription, verification and editing of
pertinent hand-written Breder field journals/manuscripts; digitization
activities including scanning and creating TIFFS, JPEGS, and PDFs of selected
materials; cropping, formatting and enhancing digital documents as needed;
descriptive metadata cataloging and loading of records into DSpace; and
assisting with various archival processing tasks.

  
Knowledge of the following is helpful: experience with Adobe Pro and
Photoshop, previous use of Microsoft Office Suite, familiarity with Dublin
Core descriptive metadata, awareness of current archival standards/best
practices, and excellent research and writing skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  
Under the supervision of the Library Director, the Digital Assets Manager will
participate in a project to digitize, catalog, and provide access to portions
of a collection of approximately 12,000 images demonstrating decades' worth of
student and faculty work which are part of the LCAD college archives. The
materials will be uploaded to and cataloged in ARTstor's Shared Shelf system.
The individual will create, review and standardize descriptive information for
images that adhere to national professional descriptive standards and thesauri
in Shared Shelf.

  
QUALIFICATIONS

  
Applicants should have a M.L.S. degree or be enrolled the final year year of
an ALA-accredited Master's degree program in Library and Information Science
with significant course work and/or experience in digitization projects,
cataloging, descriptive standards, and processing of visual and/or archival
materials. Experience and/or coursework with digitalassets
management, particularly with a focus in academic or special library setting,
is desirable.

  
Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate familiarity with
ARTstor and its products or who have a background in studio art and/or graphic
design.

  
Applicants should demonstrate the ability to work independently to meet
project goals and deadlines, exercise considerable judgment and initiative,
and work collegially with supervisor, peers, and other staff. Highly developed
organizational skills, with great attention to detail, are also critical for
this position. Applicants should possess a
strongadministrative aptitude with excellent record-keeping
skills, including maintaining Excel spreadsheets and database management.
Excellent communication skills, including spelling, grammar, and composition

Library's digital preservation software, Rosetta. Within the software, the

The Coordinator will also work with the Digital Preservation Archivist to

Responsibilities

Duty: Administer the Library's digital preservation system for Library staff

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Communications, Art History or related field

Preferred Relevant Education or Training:

Minimum Qualifications

The Department of Digital Humanities (DDH), King's College London is looking
for a highly motivated and technically sophisticated individual to work as a
developer on the research project Digital Resource and Database of
Palaeography, Manuscripts and Diplomatic (DigiPal). The position will involve
designing and developing computer tools and methods to facilitate digital
scholarship in the study of medieval and ancient handwriting and documents.

  
DDH is an international leader in the application of technology in research in
the arts and humanities, and in the social sciences. It is
in the School of Arts and Humanities, and undertakes research on a
collaborative basis across discipline, institutional and national boundaries:
it has collaborative relationships across King's College and with a large
number of institutions and bodies in the UK and
internationally. DDH has 13 established staff, and 16
research staff working on research projects. It has generated over £17 million
in research grants over the past 7 years, and is involved in more than 30
major research projects, with funding from the Arts and Humanities Research
Council (AHRC), the Leverhulme Trust and the Andrew W Mellon
Foundation. DDH is responsible for the MA programmes in
Digital Culture and Society, and Digital Humanities; it also runs
undergraduate Digital Humanities modules.

  
DDH hosts the King's Visualisation Laboratory. It has recently merged with the
Centre for e-Research (CeRch), involving collaboration in research and joint
responsibility for an MA programme in Digital Asset Management.

  
**Details**  
The successful candidate for this position will have wide experience in
modelling structured data and developing tools to search, query, retrieve and
display them using relational databases and related technologies; in
designing, writing and modifying programs which facilitate content creation;
and collaborating in the development of integrated interfaces for web

Experience in creating and manipulating structured data with a range of RDB-
related and web-delivery standards and technologies (SQL, Django/Python,
Javascript/JQuery) is essential. Familiarity with ontologies, text processing
techniques and standards-compliant XHTML and CSS is highly desirable, as is
experience in the modelling of humanities data, especially that relating to
manuscripts and documents.

  
In addition you will need to have an understanding of how research is
conducted in the humanities and social sciences and you will be expected to

Clemson University Libraries seeks an innovative and motivated professional to
work with a team of vibrant library faculty to envision and implement the
library's technology initiatives. Reporting to the Director, Office of Library
Technology, the Head of Digital Scholarship will manage scholarly
communications and copyright initiatives, lead institutional repository
planning and outreach, and oversee digital production and data management
strategies. This is a 12-month tenure-track position with
faculty rank and status.

  
Requirements

  
ALA-accredited MLS degree or equivalent.

Familiarity with issues related to scholarly communications, copyright,
digital repositories, and metadata description.

Experience in library technologies and applications.

Project management experience.

  
Preferred Qualifications

  
Supervisory experience.

Background in copyright law and/or rights management.

Ability to collaborate with diverse groups and communicate ideas effectively.

Evidence of, or potential for, professional and/or scholarly activity.
