**Job Summary:** The Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is seeking a team builder with technical skills and vision to oversee the continued growth of the Bank's leadership role as a provider of historical digital content. The Research Department hosts the FRASER Digital Library and Archive ([http://fraser.stlouisfed.org](http://fraser.stlouisfed.org)) of historic banking and economic materials. This digital library was created in 2004, and has grown to over 40,000 documents. It generated 87,600 visits in the past year. At this time, it is the largest collection of its type in the Federal Reserve System. External Overview: The Manuscripts and Archives Division is offering an internship to aid the Digital and Project Archivists for the Timothy Leary Papers for the fall term to students from a Master's program in librarianship, archival studies, or preservation with an interest in the born digital materials in the papers. The Papers document the life of Timothy Francis Leary (b. 1920, d. 1996), American psychologist and Harvard professor, who, through his studies regarding the use of psilocybin and LSD, went on to become an advocate for mind-altering drugs, eastern philosophy, sexual liberation, cyberspace and the cyberpunk genre. He was a prolific writer, lecturer, and counterculture icon (1960s - 1990s). The Papers contain material from notable figures, such as Richard Alpert (aka Ram Dass), William S. Burroughs, David Bryne, Larry Flynt, Allen Ginsberg, Keith Haring, Gerald Heard, Abbie and Anita Hoffman, Albert Hofmann, Aldous and Laura Huxley, Jack Kerouac, Art Kleps, and G. Gorden Liddy. The Papers include over a hundred floppy disks created or collected by Leary in a variety of formats. External Responsibilities: The digital intern for the Timothy Leary Papers will assist the Digital Archivist in performing preservation imaging of removable media and the extraction and analysis of metadata from the created images. The Arizona State University Center for Digital Antiquity and the ASU Libraries offer a two-year Council for Library and Information Resources (CLIR) Postdoctoral Fellowship that combines direct experience curating digital archaeological data with an opportunity to conduct individual or collaborative research. The Fellow will be based in the Center for Digital Antiquity, which oversees the use, development and maintenance of tDAR (the Digital Archaeological Record) an international repository of digital data and documents from archaeological investigations. Serving as a digital curator, the fellow will contribute to the development and expansion of tDAR. The fellow will also undertake scholarly research relating to tDAR and will have related publishing and presentation opportunities. The fellow will leverage the experience with Digital Antiquity to assist the ASU Libraries with new initiatives in research data management and repository development. The library is currently engaged in an archives grant project funded by The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations. It involves the library's special collections and includes basic processing, arrangement and description of the materials, preservation activities, and increasing accessibility to the collections. As part of the project, pertinent items in the collection are being digitized and added to Mote's Institutional Repository, DSpace. One of the special collections consists of the hand-written field journals from the early 1900s of a prominent ichthyologist, Charles M. Breder, Jr. The library plans to transcribe these hand-written journals/manuscripts, digitize them, and add them to DSpace using descriptive metadata. The library is seeking an intern to assist with this project, especially the transcription of the manuscripts. Position Focus: Under the supervision of the Library Chief Technology Officer, manages, and monitors the design, development, implementation, and communication of policies and practices for a sub-unit within the Library Information Technology department that supports the Yale University Library. Manages a team of Desktop Support technicians responsible for delivering expert, efficient, and cordial computing support to the Library's staff, as well as some specialized patron systems. Manages the desktop, laptop, and mobile computing environment for the Library. Recruits, trains, and manages a staff of Macintosh, Windows, and Mobile OS technical professionals responsible for providing service and support. Coordinates with Yale ITS on computing infrastructure issues as needed. Manages a $375K+ equipment budget including a bi-annual equipment request cycle. Works on special projects as assigned.
