If you telnet to your server ("telnet irc.domain.com 6667"), do you
get some lines like this:
NOTICE AUTH :*** Looking up your hostname
NOTICE AUTH :*** Checking Ident
NOTICE AUTH :*** Found your hostname
You should get those lines immediately, without having to type
anything into the telnet connection. If you don't get them, it's some
kind of server problem, I would imagine...inversely, if you do get them,
I guess that indicates a client problem.
