It's nit, but all the 'has' variables and methods would better communicated

Your patch has a bug which will always mark things as replica non aware. In
StorageProxy, there will always be endpoints which are not the machine itself.
Say endpoints in SP.syncWriteToBatchlog are A,B and C and the code is running
in A, it will mark replicaAware once and replicaNotAware twice.

This is marked ready to commit, but I don't see any comment regarding who +1ed
that patch (and JIRA's history say it's "Anonymous"), and I think some response
to [~cburroughs] comment is probably in order (using a Meter does sound
reasonable).

Also, which version is the patch targeting?

I think these would be more useful as Meter (like timeouts & failures) instead
of just all time counters. For example it would be easy to answer at a glance
"are token aware clients working as expected" or "what is the ratio of local to
remote reads since $BAD_PERF_THING happened".

Oops!! Still learning.

Corrections: Please review the update patch.

- Reverted changes in StorageProxy.canDoLocalRequest
- For read, added metrics in AbstractReadExecutor.java
- For writes added code in StorageProxy (not sure if this is right).

> Many C* drivers have feature to be replica aware and chose the co-ordinator
> which is a replica. We should add a metric which tells us whether all calls
> to the co-ordinator are replica aware.
> We have seen issues where client thinks they are replica aware when they
> forget to add routing key at various places in the code.

You have added your metrics in StorageProxy.canDoLocalRequest, it could be
called many times for a single read making the counts wrong.

[~carlyeks] : Thank you Carl. I added two counter in ClientRequestMetrics.java
for tracking replicaAware and replicaNotAware requests. Please review the patch
and let me know if something needs to be changed. Any better suggestion for
naming these counters?

Carl Yeksigian commented on CASSANDRA-10023:

[~tusharice]: We need to record the number of reads and writes which include
the coordinator. In {{StorageProxy.canDoLocalRequest}}, we are seeing whether
the different requests include the coordinator, so the callers of this method
should track whether or not any of the endpoints tested could do local
requests, and then record those as part of the read and write metrics.
