Debugboard option?
Does anybody know if there will be an option to buy the Debugboard only once the Freerunner is released? I´m really looking forward to the release of the Freerunner to get one. I think I´ll go for the Base Kit as I presume I won´t need a Debugboard at first, but it is possible that after a time I want to do something with my Neo that needs the use of a Debugboard. I would like to know if there will be the possibility to buy a Debugboard in the case I need it and not have to buy the whole Advanced Kit to get one. -- Alejandro Enrique ___ OpenMoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

This probably won't happen. Some of the official Openmoko people can chime in here, but I think that their current system/CC provider doesn't allow them to accept orders on products that aren't shipping. For the GTA01, they opened the ordering process as soon as they could. I would guess this will be the same for the GTA02. We're all eager to get our hands on one of these, but right now we'll have to be patient. GTA02 preorder please?
Hello there, I am just a random developer, not something in open source or linux world trough. As many developers over the world I would love to own a version of Neo1973 phone, with stable hardware and usable software. I understand there are many stumbling blocks to be overcome by the OpenMoko and Neo1973 developments teams to bring those products to the consumer markets, but because I am not a consumer I am willing to take some risks. I understand GTA00 and GTA01 will not ever be a usable platform due to hardware issues. I understand GTA02v4 had some bugs found, and so GTA02v5 design is considered. Also I understand that the OpenMoko platform is currently not a very stable condition, but somewhat usable even from the GUI. I would love to own GTA02vX after its hardware has passed some QA, even if its not guaranteed to find all the hardware bugs. Waiting for a consumer release seems a little long for me. I would like to propose asking the openmoko.com to add a preorder form for stable developer hardware platform. Something what they would consider a release candidate. This would allow for developers just like me to finally use their credit cards, and reduce the amount of pooling required. Multilanguage Text-To-Speech
Hello, FYI, mokoTTS 0.05 has just been released. If you are interested in, you might have speech out of the vox (uh, box) after installing its packages: espeak-pulse, speech-dispatcher (two espeak Chinese packages are also available). Works using Navit, the navigation software; current tests using Emacspeak. https://projects.openmoko.org/projects/mokotts/ Best regards, Gilles From the INSTALL file: Good news :-) : * The upstream speech-dispatcher 0.6.5 and eSpeak 1.31 include our PulseAudio extensions, * OpenEmbbedded includes espeak, speech-dispatcher, libdotconf. mokotts 0.05 provides now the customizations for OpenMoko (on gta01 + pulseaudio 0.9.6) which can not yet be provided upstream, and some tests on the Neo1973. Note: we have the best results at the moment using either: * speech-dispatcher with PulseAudio and espeak providing 44100Hz/stereo samples. This is the default configuration provided by mokotts. We suspect that the 44100Hz/stereo give better results because otherwise PulseAudio 0.9.6 would do CPU intensive resampling. * speech-dispatcher with Alsa and espeak providing 22050Hz/mono samples. This conf is not supplied by default by the mokotts packages because some conflicts can be met with PulseAudio. If you wish to test it, it would be better to stop the PulseAudio server and copy our .asoundrc file under /home/root (available in the tarball in mokotts/test/alsa/.asoundrc.44), and then restart the speech-dispatcher server. ___ OpenMoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
Re: Debugboard option?
Does anybody know if there will be an option to buy the Debugboard only once the Freerunner is released? If I recall correctly there will be a new improved version of the debugboard when Freerunner is released. Judging from the current GTA01 offerings there wont be separate debugboards. And if it will be possible, you'll probably miss out on the cool suitcase that comes with the advanced package :) ___ OpenMoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

Gilles Casse [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: FYI, mokoTTS 0.05 has just been released. Excellent, that is good news indeed. I had been testing espeak and speechd on the Neo over the last week or so by hand-editing various config files, which is a pretty fiddly operation and pulseaudio didn't really want to cooperate. I don't have an answer yet, but I would agree with Tim, that it is unlikely that we will be able to set up a pre-order system. It's not just an issue of the CC provider, but rather with laws that prevent charging a credit card until the item purchased has shipped. The good news is that we intend to build many more than before, so that pre-order won't be necessary. I'll let you know when I get the facts. Hi Robin, I'll double-check, but as I understand it the ID is identical between GTA01 and GTA02. By the way, a friend with Pro-E is trying to convert those files for me/us. I hope to know soon what's in those files, and have some alternative formats for you all.
