Hi, i had this error.

UBIFS support 2 compression algorithms, zlib and lzo. They can be mixed
with one filesystem. You may specify which one will be used then
creating new files. It can be scepified as mount option. The default is
lzo. lzo is significantly faster but produce bigger files.

The qtmoko kernel have only zlib compiled in, is if you just run kernel
you'll see your message. To avoid it you should add mount option for
mounting rootfs. it's mount -o compr=zlib and kernel parameter
rootflags=compr=zlib. this should be active in your bootloader.

Dear Brian,

Thank you for your interest and compliments ^^

To answer your issues :
* the theme is not totally over. I have some difficulties at this step (I
contacted Radek to answer my questions) to amend some elements like tabs,
selections, areas like Main menu, Call history, Contact détails, etc...
Keyboard is also one of them.

* Concerning the clock, it's because of the place like for application titles
(areas titles). I don't think it's necessary to always have time under the
eyes. In the top shelf, a lot of icons can appear in the same time and as the
shelf is a half smaller... I'm still looking for a solution to at least
display application titles. But I can make a theme fork to display time like
in the official theme, where you select the keyboard.

It's like in the home zone, I canceled an icon (lock) to have 3 bigger
icons. But you can still use the canceled icon function in clicking on
options - lock screen.

For more facilities, i need to see the pictures at the .pic format on my
computer and not only on my nfr. But there are other questions, such as :

1. Is that anything can be part of a theme without touching, for example,
images of existing or potential system .xml file?
2. If yes, how to modify the areas as Main Menu, Call History, Contact
Details, Edit Contact, ... ?
(3. How to view pictures .pic on my computer without going through the
application of Pictures from QtMoko?)
4. Can I change the needle on the loading animation?
5. How do I change the lists such as the Applications folder or bookmarks (-
height, background image, ..)?
6. And the tabs?

Hi cyberesprit!
You came here like the Spring! :D You made a really awesome theme! Now our
Freerunner seems really a brandnew smartphone :D
I was impressed by your work but I modified it a little bit according to my
needs, this is the changelog:

- /opt/qtmoko/etc/themes/faenqo.conf: added the string
IconPath=/pics/themes/faenqo_pics, so in this way there is no need to
overwrite the default icons folder.

- /opt/qtmoko/etc/themes/home.xml: layout reworked to have OperatorName,
Date, Time with bigger character and Profile (see screenshots:
http://db.tt/vG5D0yZ);

- /opt/qtmoko/pics/themes/faenqo, some icons substituted:
-- titlebar and signal to have a better contrast (IMHO)
-- colored missed-call(1) and message-in
-- favourite, home, dialer (and I renamed the last one phone.png instead
of text-css.png)
-- personal-contact, message, call-history

- /opt/qtmoko/pics/themes/faenqo_pics, some icons substituted:
-- qpe/ : AppsIcon, Docsicon, SettingsIcon
-- devtools, CallHistory, AddressBook

(1) pay attention, actually there are two icons, call.pic and call.png,
delete call.pic otherwise during compilation there will be a non working
icon (see previous posts on qtmoko about the bug of invisibile missed-call
icon).

If you like these changes you can obviously merge them with your work! :)
Otherwise my work will remain a simple derivative :)

If anybody want to try it, download faenqomod.tar.gz from:
http://db.tt/vG5D0yZ
and just copy/paste folder and files following the proper order (there is no
need to overwrite existing icon folder). There is also
faenqomod_svg_icons.tar.gz, all the icons that I reworked in svg.
I changed the name to faenqomod to distinguish it from the original faenqo
theme.
For now everything, apart the dialer, seems to work also with rotated
screen!

*screenshots* at the link above!

I am personally using this configuration and it works for me. I am wondering
why it thinks it's lzo. All qtmoko ubifs images are created with:

mkfs.ubifs -r /tmp/qtmoko-debian -o qtmoko-debian.ubifs -x zlib -m 2048 -e
126976 -c 2047

Note the -zlib option. I think your bootloader is ok, because it tries to
mount ubi. So the problem is most likely in rootfs NAND partition. Kernel
probably reads the compression type (lzo) from your old SHR installation (SHR
uses lzo). But i have no idea why.

Maybe it would be interesting to reflash it and then boot from SD card and
check if it's flashed ok by dumping the rootfs NAND partition and comparing
with the downloaded image.

Another option could be booting from SD card and flashing rootfs to NAND with
nandwrite, but i have never done this so cant help much.

Maybe i could still do jffs2 images for stable releases, if that would help.

Hi Radek Ivan.

I just described why that kernel message appears, wants lzo - no lzo
module - no mount - panic.

Most probably David just did some mistake flashing Qi, kernel or rootfs.
He should first just recheck everything. Othewise for me only
questionable part is bootloader which load some options from some places
and contains some options which only known to person who compiled it.

Booting from SD just attempt to mount you NAND fs is next step to solve
issue. Other alternative is to boot with NAND u-boot with kernel option
and see if it will work. Other alternative to recompile Qi with that
option and see if it will work.

I am wondering why it thinks it's lzo.

Only idea that this preference is not stored somehow, of it 'attempts'
to use lzo somehow before reading that preference. But this is only wild
guesses.

Maybe i could still do jffs2 images for stable releases, if that would
help.

IMHO, this is actually bad idea, as UBI is much better from any point of
view, and providing jffs2 version actually will confuse users. Also,
where is no reason for ubi not to work, at least it is good idea to
figure out what is cause of current issue before providing such
'workarounds'.

Best regards,
Gennady.

 the 28.2 one works good
 any idea?

Yes, i saw this at least 3 times with other users. Cause is you have
wrong environment (u-boot setup).

Cause of 'wrong data CRC' on NAND is older settings. In old u-boots
configs (and in read-only NOR u-boot config) it's set:

nand read.e 0x3200 kernel 0x20;

Which mean 'load 2Mb from NAND to ram'. if kernel 2mb, it load only
part of kernel and you getting 'wrong CRC' cause kernel had header with
CRC sum and it is checked upon boot.

You should set this to nand read.e 0x3200 kernel 0x30; to load
kernels up to 3Mb...

Now, usual problems:

1. you booting NOR instead of NAND boot (check first line in boot
screen)

2. you forgot to flash u-boot environment (read
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/U-boot-gena2x )

3. you forgot to setup your u-boot environment (read
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/U-boot-gena2x )

Go read that FAQ and ensure you did everything mentioned in it.

Gennady.

thing that some themes include 3 buttons in bottom instead of 2, so i
thinking, may be it would be nice to add button to show/hide keyboard in
 middle?

 Gennady.

I noticed it too, and the idea for a middle button to show/hide keyboard is
great. It could be really usefull!
But as I wrote in the previous post, I think that for this kind of
customization it is necessary to work with the qtextended server widgets. I
have to study some docs :)

Re: faenqo

2011-02-05 Thread Joif

I like idea of operatorname, the date .. and i think i will use it.
I like some parts of your work, others less. So, if you agree, i will put
your
fork on the faenqo site with screenshots.

Sure, no problem! ;)

Anyway thanks for your interest (and sorry to have taken your idea
 unconsciously ^^).

Haha don't worry, I will just send to you a legion of lawyers... oh no
no, I don't have much money I think...
I'm joking I'm joking ^_^
But remeber:
If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then
you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have
an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.
George Bernard Shaw

1. Is that anything can be part of a theme without touching, for example,
images of existing or potential system .xml file?
2. If yes, how to modify the areas as Main Menu, Call History, Contact
Details, Edit Contact, ... ?
4. Can I change the needle on the loading animation?
5. How do I change the lists such as the Applications folder or bookmarks
(-
height, background image, ..)?
6. And the tabs?

I encountered same problems when I was working on the finximod theme.
Unfortunately there seems to be some limitations in working with the themes,
and for more customizations it is necessary to work with the server
widgets.
From the qtextended docs:
The concept of server widgets allows the customization of the Qt Extended
main server widget beyond what is already possible due to theming. The main
parts of the user interface are separated via abstract widgets which allows
the replacement of a particular component such as the launcher or the call
screen without having to worry about implications for other UI components.
So, there are some arguments to study, here are the references:
http://doc.trolltech.com/qtextended4.4/index.html
http://doc.trolltech.com/qtextended4.4/userinterface.html
http://doc.trolltech.com/qtextended4.4/qtopiaserverapplication.html#qt-extended-server-widgets
Unfortunately there are no simple tutorials to follow...

3. How to view pictures .pic on my computer without going through the
 application of Pictures from QtMoko?

eh, interesting question.

barom - an altimeter/weather utility for freerunner

2011-02-05 Thread Benjamin Deering

Hello All,

I think this project is working well enough to share:
http://jeepingben.homelinux.net/barom/

This project uses the bmp085 barometer to show either weather or
altitude. The bmp085 is part of the freerunner navigation board, is to
be part of the GTA04, and can be installed separately. I don't think I
have an account to edit the openmoko wiki, but this could go under
userspace software in the Freerunner Navigation Board page.

Hi Ben,

thanks for sharing this application! I added a section as you said
under the section userspace software of the FRNBv2 wiki page. If you
want to pimp or change the short description let me know.

Michele

The source code in svn talks about version 0.2 but there's already a
binary for 0.3?
