I think so too. IIRC i tried v44 from SD card and it worked, but i am now not
100% sure.

Maybe it is my SD card that is broken. I tried Qi from QtMoko v38 and
v44, installed QtMoko v38 and v44 on the SD, formatted the SD more than a

write it, no errors shown by disk checks, but still no boot.

Because Qi doesn't show any output I cannot say what is going
on. Maybe I can use uboot but I don't know the parameters to select

If POWER button is holded during qi initialization, it should make kernel more
verbose. Maybe there will be something interesting. You can also play with
/boot/append-GTA02 file and try rootdelay=10 instead of rootwait if that help.

That is a task for further study and optimization. We have just built one unit
and we need some 3D printed cases to do a better evaluation.

Some more general thought: I am not sure how we should handle such ideas and
how this community sees its role.

Should we announce/publish immediately as soon as we have a prototype? And ask
the community for comments and participation in improving it? Or should we
silently
finish some design and work with beta testers not on this list...

I think this is a fundamental difference to open software development. There we
can
have a stable, a testing and an experimental branch and everyone can download
the one he/she likes. With hardware we have to build physical protoypes and make
experiments (which are not for free) to find out what a good solution is.

Two issues are still to be developed:

 a) how to reliably connect it to the GTA04 PCB (soldering copper wires or a
FFCs is a little difficult so it should have a tiny, flexible but robust
 B2B cable).

Maybe, we can use a micro-USB socket or similar (we need to connect 6
 wires).
This may also need a redesign of the GTA04 board (for a nice plug)

 b) design a 3D printable case with key-caps that is robust enough

Does anyone has any backup of those images/files ?

Thanks a lot

Re: Openmoko servers

2012-05-03 Thread Martix

Hi Nikolaus,

I know about one association which is willing to support development of
Open Souce Hardware and Openmoko. It's Openmobility. Organizing annual
conference is not our only agenda.

We have legal statute of non-profit association with council elected
each 2 years. Majority of our members are current or former Neo
FreeRunner users.

Currently we are looking for people capable of running their own Open
Source mobile or hardware project. Anybody from Openmoko community can join.

We can backup data from openmoko.org on our server and create new
infrastructure on openmoko.cz, if Openmoko Inc. can't handle this anymore.

Best Regards,

Martin Martix Holec

Mr Moss-Pultz,

The server docs.openmoko.org (aka svn.openmoko.org) has been down for
some time. Word around the camp fire has it that it is down because the
hosting company has blocked access to the machine; that they require a
signature from yourself in order to transfer control to the
administrator; and that this signature has not been received.

Could I ask: is there a particular reason that this signature has not
been provided? Are you unwilling to relinquish control?

The situation needs to be resolved so that we can get access to the data
hosted on the server, and preferably as soon as possible.

Kind regards,

Bob Ham

Looks like another example where some Openmoko.org association or
foundation could be helpful. I.e. someone who is *clearly* responsible.

BR,
Nikolaus

Indeed yes

Does anyone has any backup of those images/files ?

I have

android-on-freerunner-cupcake-daily-20110312.tar.gz
and
android-on-freerunner-cupcake-sd-daily-20110312.tar.gz

Both work well, but eat battery even by freerunner standards; the sd card
version is best if you want to customize things. I could stick either or both
on a server temporarily if you like.

Ho yeah I'll be really happy !
I have a Moko with (I think) a 'hole' in the NAND, and Android on Sd is
the best solution ...

Let me know where you put them or if you want an account somewhere to

Thanks alot by advance
