Turning on the GPRS connection on boot (QTMoko)

2011-11-17 Thread Glen Ogilvie
Hi,

I am looking for a way to get the GPRS connection to start from the command
line, or from boot in QTMoko. It works fine when I go to Internet settings
and turn it on, but want to setup the open moko so it does this automatically.
I am using this always connected to power, and want to be able to connect in
from the Internet at any time.

Any ideas? I have been trying to run the pppd process from the command line
with the same options as I can see when QTMoko starts the process, but no luck
so far.

Hi Radek,

Anywhere you'd like me to report bugs?

I tried this tonight, and discovered that importing my address book failed,
with error that the contacts table was missing.

I think that whatever builds: /home/root/Applications/Qtopia/qtopia_db.sqlite
is missing the contact table. I replaced it with my backup, and then the
address book had my contacts after that.

Thanks for the tip about activating the predictive dictionary.

I've just been watching the installer, and it cannot download:

That, and bluez-audio + bluez-utils packages are not in the repostories it

Problems (more like small nuisances now):
 - if you set the time back to something in the past, the clock service
crashes and you need to restart qtextended if you want to use the
   clock again
 - second call incoming needs to be checked if working ok
 - bluetooth is not working totally ok, only after initial boot it
works, not after suspend/resume. Seems to be kernel/bluez3 version
combo issue ... After suspend/resume bluetooth seems to work, but
   receiving files for sure don't.
 - if you try to delete the Wireless Lan, the system crashes ... cool
huh, a crashed phone? So for now: don't do it :-)
 - there's a race condition with the timers for the alarm when
vibrating. Sometimes this results in the alarm being dismissed but
the phone keeps vibrating. Solution for now: set an alarm a minute
after it, and that will stop the vibrating.

 Install instructions:
 =
 download the script
 http://users.telenet.be/liedekef/openmoko_install.sh , read the comments
at the top and then execute the script on your openmoko (after having
flashed the device and made sure internet works).
For those who just want to replace their existing QtE: just download
the QtE compressed file and replace your existing QtE with it:

2009-04-14 Thread Glen Ogilvie
Hi Franky,

I downloaded:
fso-image-nox-om-gta02.tar.gz
modules-2.6.28-andy-tracking+gitr10+901d73fe51f33032b34b2ae5612eb863ec90532a-r3-om-gta02.tgz

from: http://downloads.openmoko.org/distro/unstable/daily/om-gta02/20090412/

Then, untared both fso-image-nox-om-gta02.tar.gz and the modules on to the
second partition (ext2) on the SD card. Copied the uImage to uimage.bin on
to the first partition (vfat).

Then ran the changes from your script. Removed the old modules, as
fso-image-nox-om-gta02.tar.gz contains modules for 2.6.28 r2, not r3.

I'll try tomorrow on the phone I guess and see if that's any better. Apart
from the WSOD, it all seemed to be working pretty well. Call quality was
good.

I didn't use the kernel you mentioned, because don't have the modules for it.

2008-12-28 Thread Glen Ogilvie

Hi,

Does anyone have a howto, or information on getting GPRS working with
Om2008.12 release?

The wiki page seems to be for 2008.9 and not really suited to 2008.12

TangoGPS svn/git ?

2008-11-06 Thread Glen Ogilvie
Hi,

A friend and myself are planning on contribute to TangoGPS. Looking for
the git / svn repository we can pull the latest source from? Does anyone
know if a repository for tangogps exists? The latest on the tangogps.org
website is 0.9.3, release in march.

 Hey!
since it is a one man show I think there is no public repository.
But the guy behind it, Marcus Bauer, is a really friendly german guy.

Have you contact him already? this might be the best way to find out ;)

I sent Marcus an email on Monday and have not heard back, so figured he must
be busy or on holiday.. or have a spam filter that does not like me :). So
was just wondering if anyone here happened to know of a repository for it.

I'll just start with the bit I want to look at against 0.9.3. Looking at
making it so it can be configured to downloaded updated map tiles if the ones
it has are out of date, and checking that with a combination of time stamp
and etag (http 302).

qt extended src does not match precompiled

2008-10-20 Thread Glen Ogilvie
Hi,

I am not sure if I should be talking about this here, or on the qt extended
forum which seems fairly quite. However, I recently downloaded and compiled
qt-extended-4.4.1.

I then compared the /opt/Trolltech/Qtopia directory from
qtextended-4.4.1-gta02-rootfs-release-10022309.jffs2 against the files in my
build image directory.

I noticed that althogh most files build much the same, some things were not in
the version I compiled from sournce.

The missing bits are:
* s60 and smart themes.
* qterminal
* libmad
* facebook intergration
* profiles

Any suggestions would be appricated. I am also looking for the respoistory
(svn / git, etc) for qtextended so I can track the latest development, but
have not been able to find it.

2.6.26 kernel testing?

2008-10-06 Thread Glen Ogilvie
Hi,

Does anyone have some pre-built 2.6.26 kernels that could be tested? I am
wondering if I should compile something from the git kernel tree. I don't
care if wifi does not work, but need something that will suspend and resume.

Been using: uImage-gta02-g291a9d50_mwester-stable.bin but still get WSOD on
resume.

Is anyone from openmoko working on Bug #1841 (wsod)

2008-09-25 Thread Glen Ogilvie

Hi,

Is anyone from openmoko working on Bug #1841 (wsod)?

This bug has been around for quite a long time and is critical and
affecting many users. Can anyone actually suspend and resume reliability?
Without being able to suspend and resume, using the gta02 as a phone is not
really possible for myself anyway.

I am more than happy to assist in any way I can, but I am not a kernel
hacker, so can't make code changes at this level to fix it.

FDOM 2008.9 update?

2008-09-23 Thread Glen Ogilvie

Hi,

I enjoyed using FDOM, with the already configured stuff it was nice and
easy to get things working.

Is the going to be an update that is based on om2008.9 release?

oh, sorry I missed that message in the mailing list..

Thanks for letting me know. I will get involved, but not this week, as
have too much on.

Trying to get a qtopia development environment working, to make some
improvements to the addressbook application.

resume from suspend shows white screen

2008-09-09 Thread Glen Ogilvie

Hi,

I am running 2008.8 on my freerunner, except I've run into a problem. When
the phone resumes from suspend, it sometimes shows a white screen with
nothing on it, instead of resuming. It seems to happen after it has been
suspended for a few minutes or more.

The phone is actually resumed as far as I can tell, because it can be shut
off by holding the power button for 8 seconds, and it also suspends itself
again from the white screen, so seems like a window manager crash, or video
settings not restored type of issue.

Any ideas? I have not tried the Qtopia release yet, so can't comment if
that works ok.

Glen Ogilvie
