touchpad on OM
Hi, I'm not sure if anyone has ever tried this. I thought it would be handy to have a mouse pointer on the phone, driven by a touchpad area in the lower part of the screen. To click you just hit an appropriate button. This way you can do left click, right click, and any other mouse buttons you want. It should be useful for apps unsuited for finger use. Here's a graphical explanation: http://pvtrace.com/moko-touchpad.png I've implemented this as part of literki. The touchpad area is of course transparent, and the pointer is just a little x-shaped window. The pointer is a bit shaky, because of noise coming from the finger input. It's also a bit slow on some windows, vala-terminal in particular. I'm not sure if it's possible at all to use a real mouse pointer for this. Hello list! The reason for this interest is to determine who's responsible for this bug: http://www.paroli-project.org/trac/ticket/198 -- first thought was Paroli is too recent (or frameworkd is too outdated) to match with this method, but according to git.freesmartphone.org it was there from the very beginning. ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

Hi, Laszlo KREKACS wrote: Im wondering why that many dependencies are required. Well, OM2009 doesn't yet have mplayer in the feeds. Compatibility with dual sim tool
Hi guys, just lost my phone and it's the best occasion for buying a FreeRunner! As I'd like to use it for both work and home number, I'd like to know if it might work with this dual-sim tool: http://www.simore.ch/en/index.php They have two options: a version with sim card cutting and a version that allow not to cut it. I'd prefer the second one, for being the second sim card belonging to the office. Mainly I think it's a space problem, but I really know a few about the free runner sw compatibility and the space inside. Forgot to mention that I'd have no problem to use it with OpenMoko and Android, for if they have different compatibility. I really hope to have an answer as it would give a definitive solution to my phone problems!. Thanks a lot. emanuele ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

Re: Compatibility with dual sim tool
Actually thei claim you can use both or choose which one to use, it probably emulates one sim, comprehensive of the two you put inside. They say it's compatible with smartpgones and pdas. here is a brief description. http://www.simore.ch/en/technology.php For what I can get from the site, but it's my interpretation, in thus unified sim they create some additional services, like the ones you get from the telephony providers, for managing the two sims. On the faqs I found this one that is quite discouraging: *May I receive phone calls on both numbers at the same time?* Mobile Phone are composed by only 1 receptor and 1 transmitter. So they can not connect simultaneously 2 SIM card on 2 different networks. Nevertheless you can activate the auto switch function allowing you to settle you switch sequence with a high flexibility. That way, you are rapidly notified of a missing call. Example: 1 hour 35 minutes on SIM 1 and 5 minutes on SIM 2. Thus it's just a card switcher...It seemd strange it could connect to twp different networks. Anyway still it's an interesting tool. Re: Any distro with working calls?
I've had pretty good luck with both QtEI (now called qtmoko) and OM2009TR5 - On OM2009 I had to tweak the default alsa config a bit. A thread about it, with what I did and various comments is at http://n2.nabble.com/-om2009-r4--Warren%27s-Settings-Worked-for-Me-%28was-Re%3A-Om2009-testing--release-4%29-tp3022756p3022756.html - note that there is some debate over whether this is a good idea. If you are having problems with the audio quality, I'd suggest you get a buzz fix as soon as possible. Until then, I'd suggest you tweak the alsa config file to see if you can get something usable - my process was to set my laptop next to a landline - run alsamixer via ssh, and then dial the landline from my FR. I then basically experiemented with the controls described in http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Neo_Freerunner_audio_subsystemuntil I got something relatively buzz-free that still let me hear the other end. For the first device we wanted to be 100% sure that we had fully functioning hardware, so we left the ID alone, and just focused on a good keyboard layout ( given the keys we had) and getting linux to boot. Hi, The Digital Pioneer wrote: Everything works as expected, but my play/pause still likes to send two events most of the time, and therefore the music pauses for a moment then resumes. Thanks for the testing. Will reject the second event for play/pause if it happens within a sec. Just need to think how best to implement this. -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/Intone-0.60-Almost-Stable---%29-tp3283204p3290031.html Sent from the Openmoko Community mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

2009/7/20 Petr Vanek van...@penguin.cz Michal, it seems to only make left click and not right for me... anything i can debug? Petr Thanks, actually it was doing middle click instead of right. If you reinstall from the same url, it should work. What application can you test right click in on OM? I've only tested on my desktop. Re: Intone 0.60 Almost Stable ;-)
Check time when you get an event, and if it's within 1 second of the last event you received, and it's the same event, then ignore it. That's how I'd do it anyways. First problem: I tend to lock the screen when intone is running so nothing presses the screen and messes things up, but AVRCP events don't come through a locked screen. Does anyone know a way to catch those keypresses? ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

Re: New Open Hardware company
For the NanoNote line of products we will stick with Clamshell. That doesn't mean otherproduct lines would be under the same restriction, but if it's a NanoNote, then it's a clamshell.
