was *not* actually that impressive. I don't know Zoho's office suite

One you can view from your computer is www.gasapp.com

This is exactly what I was thinking of.

When one gets to a tipping point it does not take much of a change to
produce a revolution. It is hard to spot the tipping point because the
approach to the tipping point is just a bunch of small incremental
changes. So what is the consequence of just one more small incremental
change? Nothing, until you get to the tipping point.

Laser printers + WYSIWYG turned the whole printing industry upside down.

MP3 + hard drive in a small box turned the whole music industry upside
down.

At one point there was talk about putting RFID tags all over
the place, in sneakers, clothes, etc. and the privacy concerns
that were raised because of that. Is that still in the future
or is that no longer very likely (price on the tags still too
high, etc.)

RFID chips in passports are there to make them less easily faked. I
would assume any passport that should have one but doesn't would come
under extra scrutiny- so busting it with a hammer is probably a good
way to spend extra hours in airport security.

Go for the wallet.

Not to treat your concerns lightly, but if your average

tourist 100 yards away, he must be pretty pretty blind. I am willing to
bet money that the average 10 year old urchin in
Khartoum/Baghdad/Bogotá/Tehran/etc. could tell you the nationality of 98
out of 100 foreigners in the local market on any given day. They don't
need an RFID scanner.

Re: [CGUYS] Passport RFID

2007-07-12 Thread Mike Sloane
Not to treat your concerns lightly, but if your average
kidnapper/terrorist in a "third world" country can't spot an American
tourist 100 yards away, he must be pretty pretty blind. I am willing to
bet money that the average 10 year old urchin in
Khartoum/Baghdad/Bogotá/Tehran/etc. could tell you the nationality of 98
out of 100 foreigners in the local market on any given day. They don't
need an RFID scanner.

I would imagine that equipment to detect the passport RFID's can't be

Yep. You just attach a detector to your sniperscope and it will pick your
targets for you. How convenient!

I would not mess with them. You might find yourself in the airport
basement being interrogated by Dick Cheney. Better to go with the tin
foil helmet.

Re: [CGUYS] Passport RFID

Yes, it does. In many hostage situations the first thing terrorists do
is collect passports. Up to now we've been protected against blind
terrorists, but with RFID even visually impaired terrorists can tell
we're from the US!

Sorry if this has been covered before, but I just got one.

Is there anything in a passport RFID chip that I should be
concerned with, other than that some people have recommended
microwaving it to destroy the chip?
