[CGUYS] Mozilla [was: Slate website]

2008-04-10 Thread b_s-wilk
The home page (www.slate.com) and one article load just fine for me
right now. I don't use slate at all. I'm located in Annandale, VA.
Connected via Cox Cable. Using Mozilla. Yes, I know it's out of date,
but I like its interface.

 Fred Holmes

I like Mozilla better than Firefox, too, although I have 5 different
browsers, since none of them work on all sites.

Mozilla's a current browser. I just downloaded the latest update,
v.1.1.8, this week. New name is Mozilla SeaMonkey. Interface is the same
as old Mozilla, with a few new bells and whistles.

One of the main reasons I like it is that I can not only set more
precise preferences, I can create new ones using about:config. I even
share preferences with Thunderbird and Firefox. All of the Firefox
plugins that I use also work in SeaMonkey. Try it!

I should have specified...I can get the home page to load, but frequently have
trouble getting the various story pages to load.

No worries here. Firefox and Comcast. It just snapped right up.

I tried some of the stories--probably a dozen or so--and didn't have
any problems with any of them either (I see that mead is poised to
make a come-back). Is it the same stories, or random?

Re: [CGUYS] Disc vs. Disk

2008-04-10 Thread Paul Meyer
Is disk easier to type because it is under the right middle
finger (as opposed to moving the right index over 'c')?

I've always used disc for optical media and disk for hard drives etc.

And you would be right. These are not interchangeable, except by those
who think all words interchangeable and simply grunt.

[CGUYS] Shared calendar?

2008-04-10 Thread db

Has anyone used Google calendar as a shared calendar between several users?
Theoretically such a shared calendar can also sync with a mobile device?

Does anyone have any personal experience or recommendations for sharing
Google calendar or other calendar with several XP and Vista computers
and a windows mobile 6 phone?

I'm looking for a low cost or reasonable cost solution that has minimal
overhead.

I don't know how it will fit into your mobile requirements, but Yahoo!
Groups has a calender. You can start a group and make it invite only
to join. I've got one with a couple of people scheduling an airplane,
and it works for us.

[CGUYS] Norton SystemWorks

2008-04-10 Thread Christopher Range
I just re-installed NSW. It says I have 172 days left on the
subscription. When I try to update, it won't update.

Before anyone suggests McCaffee, it won't work on my computer because, I
tried it several months ago.
