Isn't that like how Microsoft has proclaimed Internet Explorer to be a
standard so they don't need to follow what the standards setting body
has set.

I can find plenty to gripe about, but I don't think Cisco domination is
one of those things.

LinkSys is Cisco's SOHO brand. Isn't Cisco standard by definition?

[CGUYS] What a mess...

2007-11-18 Thread Marcio V. Pinheiro
I used to have a Netgear Wired Router with an
Access Point for my LapTop. It was a b network. My laptop was connected
without any problems except that in my daughter´s
room the signal was very week.

I then decided to do a brave thing, Change the
network to a Linksys Wireless Router. Followed all the instructions. Created
a network group Pinetree07. I have now three
computers wired and of course my daughter´s laptop wireless. Well, I spent
the whoe day yesterday (it was a holiday here in
Brazil) trying to make the laptop enter in the network no no avail. Yes I
see that the laptop can see the Pinetree07
groupwork but when I try to enter...it doesn´t
go; It has a safety with WEP. When
I enter the WEP phrase the laptop says that it is
wrong. I have tried everything. I am tired. Considering going back to my

wired Netger and Access Point that at least worked.

Any help?

Thanks again!

Marcio

Thank you. I will do this. In themean time I
discovered that if I connect my old Access Point (AMC) to the Linksys
Wireless, the laptop will connect in a b
network. So now I have the Linksys wireless sending info to the Lap Top
that is connecting thorugh the old Access Point.
Will disconnect the Access Point and most likely I will have the

same problem: no connection with the workgroup coming from the Linksys.

Hope I am clear...

Thanks

Marcio

Make sure the laptop can connect without any security, if that works
then try a simple wep key.
