[CnD] Using a pressure cooker
Hello, I sent two earlier messages and they get rejected, so I'm not sure what's going on here but, I am interested in getting a pressure cooker. I was wondering, if anyone on the list has use them? What suggestions would you have for me in looking for one? Or what brands have you used that are successful any suggestions will be helpful. Re: [CnD] Using a pressure cooker
Have a little sight would help. But if not the rocker type is what is needed. For there is no way I can figure out how to use the one that has some thing like a air gauge that the more the pressure, the higher the gauge comes up and give one a reading. - Original Message - From: Bill Deatherage via Cookinginthedark cookinginthedark@acbradio.org To: cookinginthedark@acbradio.org Sent: Sunday, July 06, 2014 10:44 PM Subject: [CnD] Using a pressure cooker Hello, I sent two earlier messages and they get rejected, so I'm not sure what's going on here but, I am interested in getting a pressure cooker. Re: [CnD] Using a pressure cooker
A pressure cooker is a simple device. My Presto works well, and my suggestion is to get one that's a well-established brand. The reality of pressure cookers is that the rubber gasket is going to die at some point, and it'll croak off long before the pot, lid, and valve bob lose functionality, so having one that is still around so you can buy a replacement gasket is important to keep the pressure cooker usable. I had to buy a new gasket recently and I was quite happy that the pressure cooker was such an established brand, so I found a gasket on Amazon with no problem. Note too that places like Bed Bath and Beyond have proven to be useless for buying replacements for pressure cooker gaskets. -Original Message- From: Cookinginthedark [mailto:cookinginthedark-boun...@acbradio.org] On Behalf Of Bill Deatherage via Cookinginthedark Sent: Sunday, July 06, 2014 9:45 PM To: cookinginthedark@acbradio.org Subject: [CnD] Using a pressure cooker Hello, I sent two earlier messages and they get rejected, so I'm not sure what's going on here but, I am interested in getting a pressure cooker. Re: [CnD] Using a pressure cooker
Agreed, a rocker style pressure bob is probably best for the completely blind. Mine is like that and it works fine. -Original Message- From: Cookinginthedark [mailto:cookinginthedark-boun...@acbradio.org] On Behalf Of RJ via Cookinginthedark Sent: Sunday, July 06, 2014 9:53 PM To: cookinginthedark@acbradio.org; Bill Deatherage Subject: Re: [CnD] Using a pressure cooker Have a little sight would help. [CnD] using a pressure cooker
Hello, The rocker type of gages is that the type that the more pressure the noiseer it gets? Also, the presto, is that an electric pressure cooker or is that one that sets on top of the stove? I was wondering if an electric one would be easier to use than one that sets on the stove? I have heard about some that serve as not only, a pressure cooker, but, also, as a slow cooker. I was wondering if the more it does, the more difficult to operate it would be? Thanks in advance for everyones help. [CnD] ginger bread cookies
Hello, another question, I was wondering if someone had a ginger bread recipe instead of making the ginger bread men could they just use a cookie cutter and cut them out into other shapes and not decorate them? I was wondering if anyone has tried this? Bill Deatherage Sent from my iPad ___ Cookinginthedark mailing list Cookinginthedark@acbradio.org http://acbradio.org/mailman/listinfo/cookinginthedark
Re: [CnD] using a pressure cooker
The Presto I have is a stove top model. My one concern with most electric ones is that the temperature gauges are not blind accessible. Also, simple means less to break. You can count on blowing out a gasket after a few years, but mine is still in wonderful shape since I got as a wedding gift back in the early 90's. -Original Message- From: Cookinginthedark [mailto:cookinginthedark-boun...@acbradio.org] On Behalf Of Bill Deatherage via Cookinginthedark Sent: Sunday, July 06, 2014 11:34 PM To: cookinginthedark@acbradio.org Subject: [CnD] using a pressure cooker Hello, The rocker type of gages is that the type that the more pressure the noiseer it gets? Re: [CnD] using a pressure cooker
Hi Bill. I use an electric pressure cooker and find it great. My model is a tefal, but I beleive the Cuisinart ones are the same or at least very similar.
