Re: [CnD] Slicing fresh baked bread?

2019-08-16 Thread Carol Ashland via Cookinginthedark
I am totally blind, and I bought a slicing guide that looks for all the world
like a rib cage. It is open on top, and the loaf of bread sits in the slicer.
Then it's best to use a serrated knife to slice the bread, guided by the ribs.
Of course the heel is best eaten warm, with lots of butter on it! Oh, well; but
that has nothing to do with slicing.

2019-08-16 Thread Nicole Massey via Cookinginthedark
I use a bread knife, which is one with teeth instead a smooth edge. And I
bought a slicing guide at a department store a good while back that makes it
easy to get even slices. It's a box like thing with no top and only one end,
and there are evenly spaced grooves on two of the sides to act as guides. It
was well worth having when I could see, even more so now.

I don't know about flour and sugar, but I know that the amount one gets in a
can of coffee has been reduced. In fact, the amount and size of many things has
been reduced.

I’m allergic to chocolate, and don’t like fruit.
What could I sub for the bananas and chocolate?
Thanks,

I don't mean to criticize anyone and I want you all to know I am very
appreciative of all the recipes everyone shares in here.
And Yes, I can take the title from the subject and paste it above the recipe.
But if possible, could you please write the title right above the recipe?
Maybe some people may have a more difficult time doing this extra step.
Just saying, it just looks a little strange opening a recipe to copy it, and it
starts with ingredients and directions with no title above it.
Thank you so much in advance, and if I am inappropriate in mentioning this,
Helen and Marilyn, you know how to deal with me, (smile).
