2004-01-27 Thread Thomas von Hassel
Ok, we have this setup now

Is there a way to setup the courier server so it only accepts mail
coming from the filtering server, also this must be done on a domain
level, not all domains have their mail filtered.

[courier-users] About to start work on an SPF perlfilter module

2004-01-27 Thread Lloyd Zusman
I'm about to start work on a perlfilter module that does SPF checking.
This will be done in my spare time over the next week or so.

But before I get going on this, I'd like to make sure that I'm not about
to re-invent the wheel. Therefore, does anyone know if such a
perlfilter module might already exist?

Thanks in advance.

[courier-users] Outlook Express and Eudora

2004-01-27 Thread Derrick T. Woolworth
I'm running Courier 0.43.0 and having the following issue:

Every now and then a message comes in that has a header but no body. These
messages, when pulled down using Courier's POP daemon, are delivered as:

header: value
header: value
header: vlaue
.

It seems that both Outlook Express and Eudora choke on these messages. They
stop retrieving the messages and reject everything else.

If the message is altered to:

header: value
header: value
header: value

.

(obvious blank line after the header)

Then the mail client's have no issue.

This problem does not exist when using Sendmail. My tests on a different
system show that even if a message is sent with no body that Sendmail will
alter the message, adding the blank line after the header. Then, when
retrieved using pop, the message comes down similar to the second example and
never causes an issue with Outlook Express or Eudora.

Is there a way to configure Courier to do this? Or is this just the way
Courier behaves?

Thanks,

Derrick

I wasn't clear about this originally, but my re-inventing the wheel

Does anyone know of an existing courierfilter implementation in Python

I suppose most anything would work within the courierfilter framework.
It's documented. Looks like the module has already done all of the
'heavy lifting'. Write the rest of the shell (not shell as a language,
shell as in wrapper) code yourself. For criminy, Python is about as
easy and powerful a language as exists.

Indeed. I have a (basic) SPF filter already done.

writing a quick pythonfilter+pyspf filter.

If Gordon wants it, it's his -- he'd be the guy to clean it up anyway.

RE: [courier-users] Couriermlm headaches - capital letters ?

2004-01-27 Thread Mitch \(WebCob\)
Not sure about couriermlm, but for local addresses to be treated case
insensitively, you need to touch /usr/local/courier/etc/locallowercase (or
your own equivalent). Don't know if that will help here though.

Subject: [courier-users] Couriermlm headaches - capital letters ?

Couriermlm keeps giving me headaches ...

I tried to subscribe an email address mannually. The Email Adress
contains captials and 2 - like in: [EMAIL PROTECTED]. I
tried the same by using the normal subscription method using an email to
 the list.

Both methods result in the email address showing up (couriermlm lsub
listdir, and in the daily subscription list by mail to the owner), but
mail sent to the list by the sender (he did not change his email address
in the mean time) bounces You are not subscribed to the list ...

Do i need to start anything manually ? After 2 years of (not very
intense) use of couriermlm, this behaviour is new to me :)

 TIA
 Peter

Re: [courier-users] Re: compiling courier-imap without ssl

2004-01-27 Thread Dmitry Vereschaka
Hello Sam,

no. the problem is to remove dependance on ssl.

SV No, the problem is that you're trying to build software on a development box
SV that does not have the necessary development libraries installed.

No. The problem is that software depends on non-necessary libraries.
I *do not* need imap/ssl or pop3/ssl.

Also I've found following problems:

1. install script overwrites exisitng pop3d.rc and imapd.rc in libexec
directory (I've removed everything related to ssl from them, then
recompiled sources and reinstalled files and found ssl stuff again)

2. If authorization fails, you have no information about nature of
this failure in syslog. I spent some time yesterday to determine,
that user needs home directory to be specified in /etc/userdb file

3. There are no warnings in syslog if user's mail directory exists,
   but not a correct maildir.

4. maildirmake doesn't have a keys to convert ordinary directory to
maildir. It's not a problem, if you have only one directory to
convert, but if you have hundreds of them, with different owner's
   uids/gids ...
