[Coworking] Re: Have anyone here applied Feng Shui in their coworking space decoration?

2017-05-16 Thread steve suard
Thank you Angel and Carolyn for your reply.
Most of us do not apply or even know what's that and how you can benefit
from it.
I recently talk to several success business owners that open new businesses
have applied that Feng Shui to their stores.
I'm still skeptical about the North South East West placement stuff as it's
too complicated but believe on the interior decor for a balanced color &
materials.
Yes, when you enter a place that is not great you can feel it compare to a
place where you see green plants, lights, clean, spacious...I've been
visiting these feng places like restaurants, stores, houses, hotels... and
you feel like you can stay hours, in it with a lot of pleasure. You feel
confortable.

[Coworking] Re: Just opened coworking space in Ypsilanti, Michigan...what do you think?

2017-05-16 Thread steve suard
Hi Kyle and congrat on your grand opening of your coworking space.
Me too I'm in the same situation as you are. I'm ready at 80% with the
space (today installation of air conditions...) and will open in mid August.

I will plan visit and pre-enroll in June-July and opening only in mid-Aug
as I'm taking my last vacation trip to Hawaii as an employee (still at this
time I'm writing) in July (my company free trip), then will be back for the
opening and as an entrepreneur (quit job).

I'ts been 2 months since I've started.

I'm also interested as well as Kyle for marketing solutions from experience
coworking managers here.

I don't plan to do Facebook ads as it is too wide for my local area. I want
to really focus or target local independant entrepreneurs.
I will contact local universities and share my space so students that start
a new career as an entrepreneur can join my coworking place.

I plan to advertise on online classified ads, have a meetup event or
contact local meetup groups.

I think you really must focus on your target clients. Coworking is a niche
market. Can be mom at home, freelancers...

It's weird because I've been years in marketing and advertising (my main
job) for companies and for myself I have no clues on how to do marketing
for coworking! Simply incredible! Might come with ideas but need your help
and advices.

Kyle I've visit your site and FB page and I suggest you add pictures of
your coworking spaces, desk... so people have an idea where they will work.
It's like selling in real estate, the more nice pictures you have the more
they will be interested.

[Coworking] Just opened coworking space in Ypsilanti, Michigan...what do you think?

2017-05-16 Thread Kyle Thibaut
Hi Everyone,

First wanted to thank everyone who participates here as you have helped us
tremendously while working on our plans to open GoWork.

Check us out at www.goworkcowork.com. If you have any feedback on the site,
we would love it.

So far we are just getting started but have run both Adwords and Facebook
ads to get some awareness going. We've been setting up tours and getting
people interested. If anyone has had good luck marketing on FB or Google,
we'd love to discuss what works and what doesn't. Diving into both opening
a business while marketing it has been challenging but a ton of fun as
well.

We'll keep you updated on how we're doing and any good ideas that come from
our operation.

Best,
Kyle

Thank you Jeannine.

Say what you will about behemoth Microsoft, but I was impressed when I read
about their inclusive design approach:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/Design/inclusive

Basically, the typical design strategy is to design for, say, 80%, then comply
with news of the fringe 20%.
Inclusive design is to design for and from the perspective of the 20%, and
somehow and quite effectively, the 80% is more than addressed, sometimes an
even more elegant design solution is the result.

Re: [Coworking] Closet Phone Booth

2017-05-16 Thread Jeannine van der Linden
We do tend to think of wheelchairs when we think of the ADA, but it is of
course a much broader question.

There are to my certain knowledge at least three members of this google
group who are disabledand for whom an absence of the ADA means in greater
or lesser degree an inability to work, go to school, socialize, eat out,
and do many other things. And in all of our coworking spaces there are
certainly people with disabilities, some of whom have chosen to keep this
from us and also people who did not join because of accessibility issues
which we know nothing about. It's a blindness, a case of "you don't knwo
what you don't know".

Approximately 20% of Americans has a disability. All of us will have at
least one between borth and death, folks who do not have one now are the
temporarily abled. Disability rights are civil rights.

Anybody who wants to talk about accessibility issues and coworking has my
full attention and support. It's mah thing. I can be found every Tuesday at
9 pm Amsterdam, 3 pm New York, on Twitter taking part in #AXSChat
on accessibility and a11y issues and everybody is
welcome to join us. Today we are chatting with Joe Devon, one of the
founders of Global Accessibility Awareness Day. (June 18th for the curious)

People who work with physical structures and accessibility regularly come
on; many structural problems are easily solved shortly after there is the
will to do it. There are many ways to skin any particular cat when
inclusion and accesssibility are important. Compliance is not the same
thing as inclusion and sometimes works agoinst it of course.

Re: [Coworking] Coworking in Small Towns - Discussion Group?

2017-05-16 Thread Chris Cooley
If you all are looking to participate in an already established group...we
can accommodate interested people in our free, monthly, online, virtual
meetup...details for applying can be checked out at Cowork University.com

I'm suggesting this because it's already rocking and it might be easier
than starting from scratch...

If you wanna do something new, we could even talk about doing a separate
group (same format)...specifically for small town coworks!:)

Lmk your thoughts, who would be involved and if this sounds like a good
idea and we can roll with it!

Be great,
Chris

[Coworking] Coworking in Small Towns - Discussion Group?

2017-05-16 Thread chris
Hi Lauren,

Can you please keep me in the loop on where this group of small town coworking
folks ends up? I wasn't able to make it to GCUC but have alot of experience
collaborating with small towns on coworking projects and would love to be part
of the convo:)

Thanks and be great!
Chris
