According to steam devs, this was due to an update last night that caused some extra load and backed things up, theyre aware of it and expect it to clear soon Jon. I tried: 1. updateing the servers with ./steamcmd.sh 2. updateing the servers with ./steam.sh 3. updateing the server with ./srcds_run -autoupdate -steam_dir mydir -steamcmd_scrip my script.. 4. Clean install on a new server by downloading the steamcmd tool from http://media.steampowered.com/client/steamcmd_linux.tar.gz as mentioned in the wiki https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD All ended with the same error.
