Ok, I stayed out until now too.

Christopher, do your parents know what you're doing? Perhaps it is time to
go outside and play a little, let some steam off.

Hi Christopher,

Please realise that not all of us are awake at 2.00AM (BST), and not everyone
has lost patience with you, despite the huge volume of your questions.

I earlier suggested that the use of "first-letter" is probably not ideal due to
poor browser support, particularly when combined with floats and the desire to
have a 'pixel-perfect' design. I also suggested that Paul Boag's approach
(http://boagworld.com/usability/content_is_dead_long_live_cont/) is probably
worth trying. I'm not an expert on 'first-letter', but Paul is a guy who
generally knows his stuff pretty well, and I'm guessing there's a good reason
he's taken an alternative approach.

The main cause of your problems appears to be your declaration of a 50-pixel
font-size for the first letter, which appears in a paragraph with a line-height
of 16-pixels. Take a look at this page
(http://www.fiveminuteargument.com/line-height) for an overview of how
line-height works. Also check out a very simple example
(http://www.fiveminuteargument.com/line-height-basic) which demonstrates the
'line-height smaller than font-size' issue.

Christopher,

As I tried to explain in my many off-list posts, you must start to look at
the problem again.
Your problems are far from fixed, in fact they are increasing in spite of
the fact that you think the page displays correctly. This is more like
throwing confetti, if you throw enough, some will stick in the right place.

Both your XHTML and your CSS are increasing for very little result.
Without altering your XHTML, I reduced your CSS from around 196 lines of
code, to 80 lines by removing redundant rules.
With the XHTML created correctly in the first place, the code for your CSS
would reduce even more dramatically.

Your CSS declarations must fight amongst themselves before they get to the
page.

I'm not self-indulging in nothing, I just found it odd that I posted a
question and until this question did someone respond. Most likely most
read the other post and mumbled something under their breath. This list

If you're going to self-indulge in such utter childishness, then it's unlikely
you will get any help. :-(
Or is this just another sneaky way of posting the same question twice?
You really don't have to quote the entire body of the previous message, even if
it's your own.

[css-d] Fixed up Style sheets !!!

2008-07-28 Thread Christopher
Hello, I have fixed some of my problems I have encountered on my site,
there are a few more issues and I have
done some over view of the styles and so forth. I'd like to know if you
take a look at the page at
http://www.walkfar.ca/test/productionsite18.html

- In Opera 9.51 the "sheep" word overlaps the "W" and the "you" word
overlaps the "T"
- In IE7 the "W" is cut off but the rest of the text looks good compared
to Opera 9.51 **BUT**
In FF3 the gap between the rest of the text and the "W" is too large
also the quote is gone in IE7
