In his State of the Union address, President Clinton castigated Hussein for developing nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons and the missiles to deliver them. You cannot defy the will of the world, the President proclaimed. You have used weapons of mass destruction before. We are determined to deny you the capacity to use them again. Most Americans listening to the President did not know that the United States supplied Iraq with much of the raw material for creating a chemical and biological warfare program. Nor did the media report that U.S. companies sold Iraq more than $1 billion worth of the components needed to build nuclear weapons and diverse types of missiles, including the infamous Scud. When Iraq engaged in chemical and biological warfare in the 1980s, barely a peep of moral outrage could be heard from Washington, as it kept supplying Saddam with the materials he needed to build weapons. From 1980 to 1988, Iraq and Iran waged a terrible war against each other, a war that might not have begun if President Jimmy Carter had not given the Iraqis a green light to attack Iran, in response to repeated provocations. Throughout much of the war, the United States provided military aid and intelligence information to both sides, hoping that each would inflict severe damage on the other. Noam Chomsky suggests that this strategy is a way for America to keep control of its oil supply: It's been a leading, driving doctrine of U.S. foreign policy since the 1940s that the vast and unparalleled energy resources of the Gulf region will be effectively dominated by the United States and its clients, and, crucially, that no independent indigenous force will be permitted to have a substantial influence on the administration of oil production and price. During the Iran-Iraq war, Iraq received the lion's share of American support because at the time Iran was regarded as the greater threat to U.S. interests. According to a 1994 Senate report, private American suppliers, licensed by the U.S. Department of Commerce, exported a witch's brew of biological and chemical materials to Iraq from 1985 through 1989. Among the biological materials, which often produce slow, agonizing death, were: * Bacillus Anthracis, cause of anthrax. * Clostridium Botulinum, a source of botulinum toxin. * Histoplasma Capsulatam, cause of a disease attacking lungs, brain, spinal cord, and heart. * Brucella Melitensis, a bacteria that can damage major organs. * Clostridium Perfringens, a highly toxic bacteria causing systemic illness. * Clostridium tetani, a highly toxigenic substance. Also on the list: Escherichia coli (E. coli), genetic materials, human and bacterial DNA, and dozens of other pathogenic biological agents. These biological materials were not attenuated or weakened and were capable of reproduction, the Senate report stated. It was later learned that these microorganisms exported by the United States were identical to those the United Nations inspectors found and removed from the Iraqi biological warfare program. The report noted further that U.S. exports to Iraq included the precursors to chemical- warfare agents, plans for chemical and biological warfare production facilities, and chemical-warhead filling equipment. The exports continued to at least November 28, 1989, despite evidence that Iraq was engaging in chemical and biological warfare against Iranians and Kurds since as early as 1984. The American company that provided the most biological materials to Iraq in the 1980s was American Type Culture Collection of Maryland and Virginia, which made seventy shipments of the anthrax-causing germ and other pathogenic agents, according to a 1996 Newsday story. Other American companies also provided Iraq with the chemical or biological compounds, or the facilities and equipment used to create the compounds for chemical and biological warfare. Among these suppliers were the following: * Alcolac International, a Baltimore chemical manufacturer already linked to the illegal shipment of chemicals to Iran, shipped large quantities of thiodiglycol (used to make mustard gas) as well as other chemical and biological ingredients, according to a 1989 story in The New York Times. * Nu Kraft Mercantile Corp. of Brooklyn (affiliated with the United Steel and Strip Corporation) also supplied Iraq with huge amounts of thiodiglycol, the Times reported. * Celery Corp., Charlotte, NC * Matrix-Churchill Corp., Cleveland, OH (regarded as a front for the Iraqi government, according to Representative Henry Gonzalez, Democrat of Texas, who quoted U.S. intelligence documents to this effect in a 1992 speech on the House floor). In other words, a person may be murdered because of untrue charges. Just such an American operation in the Vietnam War murdered many innocent citizens, so the precedent has been set for the same thing to happen here. As in Vietnam, citizens may be murdered simply because the government wants dissenters out of the way, or simply because another citizen wanted to get even with a personal enemy! Secondly, Attorney General John Ashcroft announced plans to create concentration camps for suspected enemy combatants within the United States! Experience with Ashcroft since 9/11 has taught us that when he declares someone an enemy combatant that person is arrested and jailed without charges, without releasing his name, and without anyone knowing where he is or how he is being treated! In other words, Ashcroft has used this term - enemy combatants - as a cover for denying people their Constitutional Rights! Thirdly, when you understand that the Bush Administration has already re-defined a terrorist in such a way that he could be an American citizen totally unrelated to Muslim terror, you understand the terrible implications of these new Police State, dictatorial policies. America could see assassinations of her citizens on our streets, in our homes, and on our work places. No more serious breach of fundamental American principles is imaginable. They can be programmed to take off, fly to a destination and land, completely without a pilot at the controls. They are intelligent planes, and have software limits pre set so that pilot error cannot cause passenger injury. Though they are physically capable of high g maneuvers, the software in their flight control systems prevents high g maneuvers from being performed via the cockpit controls. They are limited to approximately 1.5 g's, I repeat, one and one half g's. This is so that a pilot mistake cannot end up breaking grandma's neck. No matter what the pilot wants, he cannot override this feature. The plane that hit the Pentagon approached or reached its actual physical limits, military personnel have calculated that the Pentagon plane pulled between five and seven g's in its final turn. The same is true for the second aircraft to impact the WTC. There is only one way this can happen. As well as fully autonomous flight capability, the 767 and 757 are the ONLY COMMUTER PLANES MADE BY BOEING THAT CAN BE FLOWN VIA REMOTE CONTROL. It is a feature that is standard to all of them, all 757's and 767's can do it. The purpose for this is if there is a problem with the pilots, Norad can fly the planes to safe destinations via remote. Only in this flight mode can those craft exceed their software limits and perform to their actual physical limits because a pre existing emergency situation is assumed if this mode of flight is used. Terrorists in fact did not fly those planes, it is totally and completely impossible for those planes to have been flown in such a manner from the cockpit. Those are commuter aircraft, not F-16's and their software knows it. Another piece of critical evidence: the voice recorders came up blank. The flight recorders that were recovered had tape that was undamaged inside, but it was blank. There is only one way this can happen on a 757 or 767. When the aircraft are commandeered via remote control, the microphones that go to the cockpit voice recorder are re routed to the people doing the remote controlling, so that the recording of what happened in the cockpit gets made in a presumably safer place. But due to a glitch in the system on a 757/767, rather than shutting off when the mic is redirected the voice recorder keeps running. The voice recorders use what is called a continuous loop tape, which automatically re passes itself past the erase and record heads once every half hour, so after a half hour of running with the microphones redirected, the tape will be blank. Just like the recovered tapes were. Yet more proof that no pilot flew those planes in the last half hour. Eight of the hijackers who were on those planes called up complaining that they were still alive. I'd bet you never heard about our foreign minister flying to Morocco and issuing an official apology to the accused, did you? No, terrorists did not fly those planes, plastic knives and box cutters were in fact too ridiculous to be true. Any of the remaining accused have certainly been sought out and

Mucus nasal secretions, tears and coughing to expel the irritant from the lungs are not the harmful effects of exposure but are simply proof that the body recognizes Anvil as something it wants to get rid of immediately. The symptoms of a disease are not the effects of a disease. If you have emphysema from cigarette smoking, you may feel tired and have difficulty breathing. In response, you might use an inhaler and temporarily breath better, but that would hardly mean you had recovered from the disease or from permanent damage to your lung tissue. The suspected, and in many cases already proven, long-term effects of exposure to pyrethroid pesticides such as Anvil include immune-system and liver damage, endocrine disruption, possible proliferation of breast-cancer cells, possible lowered sperm counts and cognitive difficulties. The latest science concerning this finds that at minimal exposures, serious health effects and endocrine disruption have been observed. The real damage from exposure to these chemicals won't be manifested until long after the itching, runny nose or coughing have stopped. By then, few people will remember or be able to prove the connection between exposure and their illness. 2. WEST NILE VIRUS (WNV) IS A DEADLY DISEASE The media keep referring to WNV as a deadly disease transmitted by killer mosquitoes. Yet, they qualify these claims by saying that WNV is very hard to become infected by and that most people who do get infected recover without any treatment and without experiencing any symptoms. So which is it - a deadly infectious disease, or very mild and hard to become infected by? It can't be both. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the largest-known WNV epidemic in history occurred in Romania in 1996. Approximately 100,000 people allegedly became infected. About 400 of those people became ill with symptoms of encephalitis. Only 15 of those people, all of whom were older than 65, died. Considering the level of health care in that country and the poor nutritional status and immune health of its senior citizens, these statistics indicate that the virus is less dangerous than the common cold. In New York City, according to the Department of Health's own study, of the four NYC residents alleged to have died in 1999 from WNV, three were taking immunosuppresant cancer drugs and the fourth was HIV-positive. If you read the most recent accounts of people who are allegedly infected or who died from WNV in 2002 all were recovering from surgery, or were previously quite ill or had otherwise very weak immune systems. Press Office Aug. 18, 2002 On Tuesday July 30, 9 members of the RCMP, Canada's national police agency, led by Cpl. Derrick Ross of the Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (see sidebar article, Insidious INSET below), executed a Search Warrant and raided my home and office in Courtenay, British Columbia. The search and seizure was carried out on behalf of law enforcement from two counties in the State of Maine, under the auspices of the Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Treaty. Although no one was home at the time, and access to the house could easily have been gained by breaking a window or picking a lock (the latter of which they would normally do to install electronic eavesdropping devices), the RCMP felt it somehow necessary to kick in the door. The wood was shattered, the window was cracked, and the doorframe and wall were damaged, all of which made the door completely unusable. When the police completed their search at 6:30 pm, ten and a half hours after they began, they screwed in a sheet of chipboard over the doorway, leaving behind ransacked rooms, scattered files and garbage, and probably a few more bugs in the walls and ceilings. Seized from my home were both my computers, dozens of computer disks, hundreds of videos, miscellaneous photos, files, and papers, four U.S. postal mail bags, plus documents and files seized (and later returned) from previous RCMP raids. One might reasonably suspect that there was some recent ALF action of immense and costly proportions in which I was suspected of having some involvement to warrant such a cross-border raid, but in fact the incidents Kennebec and Sagadahoc County Sheriffs are investigating took place three years ago in the summer of 1999, and the damages from the relatively minor actions total no more than $8700. From May through Sept. 1999 the Animal Liberation Front took credit for four actions against hunting clubs and one action against a Food and Drug Administration building in Maine. The actions essentially boil down to break and enter, spray painted walls, broken windows and doors, and stolen stuffed animal heads, which were returned to their natural environment to rest in peace according to the Communique received by the Press Office. Chronology In July 1999 I took over the ALF Press Office and became the North American spokesperson. The actions in Maine were some of the first I worked on in my new role, giving interviews to Maine media outlets in Sept. 1999. Four months later on Jan. 23, 2000 Kennebec County Sheriff Everett Flannery made a request for a search to be conducted against my home. On Oct. 11, 2000 and on May 14, 2001 supplemental requests for a search were made by U.S. authorities to the Canadian Minister of Justice. Almost one year later, on May 07, 2002, the Canadian Justice Minister approved the request, and two and a half months after that on June 25 RCMP Cpl. Derrick Ross swore out an Information to Obtain a Search Warrant which was approved and signed by Associate Chief Justice Patrick Dohm of the BC Supreme Court. (Dohm was recently in the news regarding another search warrant he signed against a former Premier of British Columbia. In that instance, RCMP officers traveled to California where Dohm was vacationing at the time to obtain his signature for the warrant, apparently wanting to ensure they got the warrant signed. Dohm is known for being extremely conservative; perhaps another Justice might have refused their request.) (Perhaps not-so-coincidentally, Dohm was also the Justice who authorized wiretaps to be placed in my home and vehicle back in 1996 in regard to an RCMP investigation of mail bombs sent to fascists and razor-blade letters sent to hunters. Charges of sending razor-blade letters to BC guide outfitters were laid in 1998 but dropped in 2000 for lack of evidence and because the RCMP did not want to disclose critical information as ordered to by a judge.) Ayahuasca can refer to a single plant (a vine known to botanists as Banisteriopsis Caapi, to many South Americans as yage) or to one of many, many different mixtures, often of yage and various plants containing dimethyltryptamine. Ayahuasca never refers to a snuff. The mixtures are usually boiled, and always eaten. Sometimes mixtures are made of plants un(genetically)related to yage (the vine) which contain indoles or other chemicals of interest, mostly tryptamines and various beta-carbolines (especially harmine and hamaline) . [CTRL] The Other Reparations Movement

DiLorenzo Jack Kershaw of Memphis, Tennessee, wants to file a class-action lawsuit against the US government for reparations. Not on behalf of the descendants of slaves but on behalf of Southerners of all races whose ancestors were the victims of the US government's rampage of pillaging, plundering, burning, and raping of Southern civilians during the War for Southern Independence. In 1860 international law -- and the US government's own military code -- prohibited the intentional targeting of civilians in war, although it was recognized that civilian casualties are always inevitable. Foraging to feed an army was acceptable, but compensation was also called for. The kind of wanton looting and destruction of private property that was practiced by the Union army for the entire duration of the war was forbidden, and perpetrators were to be imprisoned or hanged. This was all described in great detail in the book, International Law, authored by San Francisco attorney Henry Halleck, who was appointed by Lincoln as general in chief of the Union armies in July 1862. International law, the US army's own military code, and common rules of morality and decency that existed at the time were abandoned by the Union army from the very beginning. A special kind of soldier was used to pillage and plunder private property in the South during the war. In The Hard Hand of War Mark Grimsley writes that the federal Army of the Potomac possessed its full quotient of thieves, freelance foragers, and officers willing to look the other way, and that as early as October 1861 General Louis Blenker's division was already burning houses and public buildings along its line of march in Virginia. Prior to the Battle of First Manassas in the early summer of 1861 the Army of the Potomac was marked by robbing hen roosts, killing hogs, slaughtering beef cattle, cows, the burning of a house or two and the plundering of others. In Marching through Georgia Sherman biographer Lee Kennett noted that Sherman's New York regiments were filled with big city criminals and foreigners fresh from the jails of the Old World. Unable to subdue their enemy combatants, many Union officers waged war on civilians instead, with Lincoln's full knowledge and approval. Grimsley describes how Union Colonel John Beatty warned the residents of Paint Rock, Alabama, that Every time the telegraph wire was cut we would burn a house; every time a train was fired upon we would hang a man; and we would continue to do this until every house was burned and every man hanged between Decatur and Bridgeport. Beatty ended up burning the entire town of Paint Rock to the ground. The Union army did not merely gather food for itself; it pillaged, plundered, burned, and raped its way through the South for four years. Grimsley recounts a first hand account of the sacking of Fredericksburg, Virginia, in December of 1862: Great three-story houses furnished magnificently were broken into and their contents scattered over the floors and trampled on by the muddy feet of the soldiers. Splendid alabaster vases and pieces of statuary were thrown at 6 and 700 dollar mirrors. Closets of the very finest china were broken into and their contents smashed . . . rosewood pianos piled in the street and burned . . . Identical events occurred in dozens of other Southern cities and towns for four years. Sherman was the plunder-in-chief, and he had three solid years of practice for his March to the Sea. In the autumn of 1862 Confederate snipers were firing at Union gunboats on the Mississippi River. Unable to apprehend the combatants, Sherman took revenge on the civilian population by burning the entire town of Randolph, Tennessee, to the ground. In a July 31, 1862 letter to his wife Sherman explained that his purpose in the war was extermination, not of the soldiers alone, that is the least part of the trouble, but the people. In the spring of 1863, after the Confederate Army had evacuated, Sherman ordered his army to destroy the town of Jackson, Mississippi. They did, and in a letter to General Ulysses S. Grant Sherman boasted that The inhabitants [of Jackson] are subjugated. They cry aloud for mercy. The land is devastated for 30 miles around. Meridian, Mississippi was also destroyed after the Confederate Army had evacuated, after which Sherman wrote to Grant: For five days, ten thousand of our men worked hard and with a will, in that work of destruction, with axes, sledges, crowbars, clawbars, and with fire, and I have no hesitation in pronouncing the work well done. Meridian . . . no longer exists. In Citizen Sherman Michael Fellman describes how Sherman's chief engineer, Captain O.M. Poe, advised that the bombing of Atlanta was of no military significance (the Confederates had already abandoned the city) and

I was at least expecting levitating skateboards, like the one Michael J. Fox had in one of the Back to the Future movies. Not that I would ride it. My dog would like it, I'll bet. There are few things funnier than seeing a pug grin. I'd even buy him a little helmet, like the one moronic adults wear when they ride their bikes on a busy city street. Instead, what I see are janitors on strike where I work. These are adults, in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s. They're making $7.50 an hour. After taxes and deductions for their benefits, there ain't much left. They certainly aren't going to be buying skateboards, levitating or not. I saw one of the elderly female janitors going into her apartment, located in some not-so-hot public housing. Some of the cars on the street were not only not levitating up and down, they weren't going back and forth, not unless people pushed them. It's a bit hard to keep a car running on $7.50 an hour, even if it is an 250,000-mile ex-taxi that cost $200. These janitors should be making $30,000 a year. My grandfather, who was born in 1893, dropped out of school in the 8th grade, yet was still able to raise nine kids and live a middle-class existence. He installed and sanded wooden floors. But in those days, taxes, inflation, regulations, and the federal deficit were but a fraction of what they are now. What he did is now impossible. My father told me that when he was a kid, his father would send him to the corner bar to bring back a big bucket of beer for the workers to drink. My father was about ten. Let a kid try that these days. And if you think that's bad, I saw a 90-year-old man carded for a pack of cigars at a Walgreens. How old do you think I am? he asked the clerk. I don't know, she replied. I'll bet you couldn't find your butt with both hands, he told her, and walked out. That's when I found that trying to stifle laughter makes you snort. She had a J-Lo I Only Need One Hand butt. Speaking of butts, I'll bet mine is smarter than the entire management of Walgreens. When my grandfather was a kid, opiates were legal, so you could buy Bayer heroin at the corner drugstore. But when he was an adult, it was during Prohibition, so he was a bootlegger. Too bad he didn't become filthy rich running rum, like Joseph Kennedy. I wouldn't be driving a 2000 Chevy Cavilier. Few understand that when businesses get a tax cut, they use the money to give employees raises, otherwise other businesses will use their newfound money to hire them away. (I really shouldn't say all people. Richard Gephardt, who is as lacking in brains as he is in eyebrows, certainly doesn't understand it.) Mean average wages haven't budged since about 1974, which is when Nixon severed the dollar from gold (who was advising him? His dog, Checkers?) In the 20th century, the dollar lost 99% of its value through the government inflating the money supply. Forty-five percent of that loss has been since 1983, nine years after the Checkers-brained Nixon allowed inflation to proceed with no brakes at all. I believe if the unconstitutional Federal Reserve Bank hadn't been created in 1913 (thereby allowing inflation), if the IRS had never come into existence, if the federal deficit was a single-digit fraction of what it is now, and if all these asinine job-destroying regulations didn't exist, then those janitors would be making $30,000 a year. Most people don't know it, but half of what they make goes to taxes. Most of those taxes are hidden. How many people know exactly how much tax is hidden in the price of a gallon of gasoline? Historically, people who have half of what they make taken from them are called slaves. I grew up on The Jetsons and the original Star Trek. (I spent hours in front of the mirror, trying to raise my eyebrow like Spock. And I succeeded. Even today, I can raise my left eyebrow. But not my right.) At second glance, as well. Unthreatening links to the peace process, human rights, ideas and debate and drugs and corruption lead to pages with well-written essays that analyze the crimes of the Colombia government against its citizenry. There are illustrations reminiscent of Amnesty International's, pictures of children and drawings of a peace dove with an olive branch in its beak. Nowhere does the site mention the hundreds of people the ELN kidnaps every year, using the ransoms to pay for its activities. There's no mention of the judges, politicians, businessmen and many other civilians who have been killed by the ELN since their uprising against the government began in 1964. The Web site run by the Tamili Tigers, who are fighting for Tamili independence in Sri Lanka, complains about harm done to Tamili women. There's no mention of terror, including suicide bombers, assassinations, and massacres. And when there is mention of the organization's violent operations, it's always in the context of anti-government actions and against military targets. The Turkey's Revolutionary People's Liberation Front, a Marxist group operating since 1978 against government and American targets in the country, carries a letter on its Web site directed to the European Union. The letter refers to the EU's decision not to include it and the PKK on a terrorist list as proof that the real terrorist element in the country is the Ankara government. The sober reality presented to Net travelers by the ELN and other groups is not unusual. It is an accurate reflection of the main thesis of a three-year-old study by Prof. Gabi Weiman and Dr. Yariv Tzfati from the University of Haifa's Communications Department. The study was updated in January 2002, following September 11. The researchers, who sum up their findings in an article to appear in an upcoming issue of Rand, the American think tank's journal, decided to examine the Web-based rhetoric of terror groups and found that almost all the groups either hide their violent activity or make no mention of it. The reason, they believe, is that the terrorist groups perceive the general Western public, but particularly Internet users, as educated and liberal. So, they emphasize those subjects that Western democracies would find sympathetic. Government actions against terrorism, like harming freedom of speech, arrests without trials, and torture, contradict the basic values of Western democracies, and are emphasized at the sites. From the PKK to the ETA, the Tamili Tigers to the Shining Path, the Web sites are devised to embarrass their government enemies, and on the Internet, a liberal means of communication that is both chaotic and decentralized, the tactic works beautifully. Anti-Microsoft The similarity between the terrorist rhetoric on the Internet and other media is the wealth of propaganda techniques, transferring the guilt to the other side and justifying the use of violence, says Weiman. The difference is that terrorist rhetoric on the Net is much more pacifist and liberal, and uses terms that we found more on the Internet than elsewhere. Weiman says that the terrorists assume that the Net carries its own non-violent message of freedom of speech, liberty, open globalization, and certainly not violence, so they adapt themselves to the nature of the medium and the audience. A good example that Weiman and Tzfati point to is the Web site run by the Zapatistas, the Mexican underground fighting for Chiapis independence against the federal government. Their site promises that it was designed to be viewed properly with Mozilla, Opera, and Linux browsers - alternative Web browser's to Microsoft's, and therefore a dig at the corporate giant, and by implication, announcing to the site visitor that this is an anti-capitalist, anti-corporate site. It's not atypical of alternative Web sites trying to reach millions of Web travelers who are fed up with Microsoft's domination of the PC. Visitors to the site will therefore identify with the campaign against globalization and especially the Nafta agreement between the North American countries. But the Zapatista perception of the global village is not limited to technical affairs like which browser to use. The organization pushes issues like freedom of speech, human rights, social justice, and opposition to corporate globalization, no less than it emphasizes the messages of its charismatic leader SubCommandante Marcos, who already in the mid-1990s was using a laptop, modem and e-mail to send his message to supporters worldwide. He claimed that anti-semitism is less rooted in Italy than in other countries. It is my belief that a distinction must be made between intellectual anti-semitism and popular anti-semitism. Popular anti-semitism is as old as the Jewish diaspora. It arose from an instinctive reaction of the common people to different people, who spoke an unknown language evocative of magic rites. A people steeped in the culture of the book, the Jews learned to read and write. They practised medicine, engaged in trade, and lent money - hence the resentment towards them as intellectuals. Such were the roots of peasant anti-semitism in Russia. Certainly the Christian condemnation of the people who killed God carried weight, but ultimately there was a (private) relationship of shared interest and mutual respect between Christian and Jewish intellectuals throughout the middle ages, not to mention the renaissance. The desperate hordes who followed the crusades and laid waste the ghettoes by fire and the sword were not inspired by doctrine, but controlled by the urge to pillage. Intellectual anti-semitism as we now know it originates from the modern world. In 1797, Abbé Barruel wrote his Mémoires pour servir à l'histoire du jacobinisme to show that the French revolution was a plot of the Knights Templar and the freemasons. Later it was an Italian, Captain Simonini, who suggested to him that it was above all the perfidious Jews who were acting behind the scenes. It was only after this point that the argument surrounding international Jewry began, and the Jesuits seized on it as an argument against the sects of the Carbonari. The controversy raged throughout Europe, but found its most fertile soil in France, where Jewish finance was now identified as an enemy to defeat. The controversy was certainly fuelled by Catholic legitimism, but it was in secular, political circles that the ill-famed Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion slowly took shape. These were then published in Russian Tsarist circles and were finally used by Hitler. The Protocols were a rehash of serialised fictional material, and prove their own unreliability, since it is hardly credible that the baddies would reveal their fell purposes so blatantly. The Elders even declare that they intend to encourage sport and visual communication to dupe the working class (a passage more reminiscent of Berlusconism than Judaism). Nevertheless, though rough and ready, this was intellectual anti-semitism. Conceding to Deputy Casini, it can be said that Italian popular anti-semitism has been less strong than in other European countries (for various social, historical and even demographic reasons). Indeed, ordinary folk ended up opposing racial persecutions by helping the Jews. But in Italy, Jesuitical anti-semitic doctrine flourished (the novels of Father Bresciani are but one example). This merged with the bourgeois anti-semitism which ultimately produced the notorious academics and writers who contributed to the infamous journal La difesa della razza [The Defence of the Race] and the version of the Protocols published by Julius Evola in 1937. Evola wrote that the Protocols had the value of a spiritual tonic. He added: Above all, in these decisive hours of western history, they cannot be ignored or dismissed without seriously undermining the front of those fighting in the name of the spirit, of tradition, of true civilisation. Abu Nidal, 65, had a reputation as one of the most ruthless Palestinian guerrilla commanders. The Palestinian sources confirmed a report in the Palestinian Al-Ayyam newspaper which said on Monday Abu Nidal's death was apparently a suicide and occurred three days ago. The militant leader, Sabri al-Bana, was widely known by his nom de guerre Abu Nidal as the head of the Fatah-The Revolutionary Council group that broke with the Palestine Liberation Organization in 1974, saying it was too moderate. His group was considered responsible for dozens of attacks in 20 countries against Middle Eastern, European and U.S. targets which killed hundreds of people, including PLO officials. He was sentenced to death in absentia by a Fatah military court. All around us are the warning signs of impending doom. Global trade, global cooperation, a global war on terrorism, a global outlook overall and that our "petty" problems of unemployment and financial ruin are of small consequence in the overall scheme of things. After all, the Third World is in agony and despair, so how can us greedy Americans, Canadians and Europeans dare complain about our low-wage service-based jobs and lack of financial advancement when others have to worry about even finding a crust of bread to eat? I will answer that question by the end of this report. Everywhere you look in the mainstream (i.e. elite-controlled) media, the news stories and documentaries are being dragged out and run over and over again ... Globalism ... "the global marketplace" ... are we ready for the realities of global cooperation? ... We have to help our global trade partners ... and of course, "global trade" is the answer to all our woes. More on the deceitful trade aspect a little further on. The question is: do we really need a global war on terrorism? Did we really need a War on Poverty, or the War on Drugs? Look at the United States' Food Stamp program implemented by President John F. Kennedy as a temporary measure to alleviate poverty in low income American families. Has it solved any part of the problem of poverty? Has it gone away? Of course not. It wasn't meant to. It is now another vast bureaucracy in the ever expanding, ever more socialistic U.S. Government. The War on Terrorism is no different. The Invisible Enemy has created terror from the beginning. It has a purpose. The goal is to create an emergency situation that will allow Police State control measures to be agreed upon by the inhabitants of a country the terror occurs in. It really is that simple. (You knew that had to be auspicious). It was full of Republican shills who immediately took control of the entire thing. This was billed as an "economic forum of the people," in which the people could give their opinions on what the Bush Administration is doing wrong. Brokerage firm owner Muriel Siebert said that we should take the next five years period and allow people to double the amount of money they can put in their 401(k)'s and IRA's in order to make up for losses that people have sustained over the last eighteen months. Of course, she was very careful to make sure that the eighteen months didn't coincide, in anyone's mind, with Bush's tenure. They didn't show the audience, and they purposely didn't pan the camera over the audience (I think they're going to do this from now on). After Muriel Siebert said that, Bush said he thought that was a good idea, and some guy yells out from the audience, "But, Mr. President, the people don't have any money left. All your Republican pals stole it all." Then they went to a break. They took the camera off the president and showed a bunch of people standing and a few seconds later they panned the audience and in the front row, there was a person missing. Evidently the guy had been hauled out, but they didn't want to show it on camera. According to a New York Times article, a recent poll indicates that Vice President Cheney has become a net liability to the Bush Administration. There are the Halliburton scams and people relate Harken, Bush's scam, and Halliburton because they're both oil, and it's the whole concept of how Republicans and Big Oil Money are linked together. So Cheney has become a liability. If the Republicans do poorly come November, I would say that Cheney might be eased out. Most likely they'll make him some kind of scapegoat for the Republican failure. Then Bush made another interesting faux pas. The panel was talking about the acceleration of tax cuts for the rich and Steve Forbes said that he was tired of hearing this and that it's just Democratic propaganda. He was referring to all the times you hear on the news that the tax cuts are for the "rich" or the "Republican rich." But he planted that in everyone's mind. Then Bush said that he thinks we should "accelerate tax cuts for the rich." After he realized what he said, he added, "I didn't mean to say that. I meant for the people." He then said that it's just Democratic propaganda, despite the fact that the GAO has reported that 48% of Bushonian tax cuts go to those making more than $250,000 a year. And of those people who make $250,000 a year or more, 70% of them are Republican. The Bush Administration recently confirmed what AlMartinRaw. Com had been warning people since the beginning -- from the day Bush was elected -- that the Bush Administration will begin dipping into Social Security funds again the way his father George Bush I did. In other words, they will use BFLAP (Bush Fantasy Land Accounting Principles) to start to count Social Security contributions as general revenue. The Reagan-Bush Regime did exactly the same thing during the 1980s and early 1990s. They managed to suck $3 trillion out of Social Security. Now the Bush II Administration will do it again. But they actually came out and said in the statement that they wouldn't start doing it - until after the November elections because they didn't want to give the Democrats another campaign issue. They are so confident of their own power that they would actually say something like that. It has been reported that the total market decline has made $7 trillion worth of wealth vanish since the spring of 2000. The market began to soften in late 1999 when the high tech stocks begin to burst. Then the speculative balloon began to leak air in earnest in the spring of 2000. Since the day George Bush was elected, $5 trillion in equity has been lost. Then when you add another $2 trillion lost eleven months prior to the election, you have a total of $7 trillion. People hate to hear the truth, but a lot of this can be blamed on George Bush and Bushonian economics, which certainly abetted and accelerated the decline. Even before Bush got into office, people knew what Bushonian economics meant - the creation of federal budget deficits, an increase in the national debt, tax cuts for the rich, this self-feeding process. What's different about Bush Administrations is that the market will react to a Bush Administration from the very day that they're elected. You don't have to wait until they're inaugurated. Remember he doesn't put economic policy in place until April or May. This is six or seven months after he is elected before he is able to change any economic policy at all, but the market

Orwellâs vision of 1984 inches closer to realization every day, yet how many people are even paying attention to Big Brother? The headlines alone should convince most citizens that the trend is negative and invasive, despite the rhetoric coming from the feds.
Apparently, it isnât enough that some airlines are using low level x-ray machines that enable newly hired federal "security" screeners to see through the clothing of passengers and fully expose their naked images on screen. Now NASA is planning to read the minds of terrorists at airports by using space technology to monitor their brain-wave patterns.
Frank J. Murray writes, "Officials of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration have told Northwest Airlines security specialists that the agency is developing brain-monitoring devices in cooperation with a commercial firm, which it did not identify. Space technology would be adapted to receive and analyze brain-wave and heartbeat patterns, then feed that data into computerized programs "to detect passengers who potentially might pose a threat,"â¦NASA wants to use "noninvasive neuro-electric sensors," imbedded in gates, to collect tiny electric signals that all brains and hearts transmit. Computers would apply statistical algorithms to correlate physiologic patterns with computerized data on travel routines, criminal background and credit information from "hundreds to thousands of data sources," NASA documents say."
The federal government is again searching for a technological fix. It will spend millions of dollars on research and testing, purchase some new Buck Rogers black boxes, and presto! there you have it, airport security at its finest. At least thatâs what the press release will say. My guess is that the reality will be much different.
We already know that the newest, very expensive weapon screening systems donât work, yet they are still being manufactured, purchased, and installed. Itâs all a show. Itâs all about maintaining the illusion of safety and security, without getting your hands dirty. Donât forget: this mind reading system will be run by the same people who are currently confiscating 2" plastic G.I. Joe toy guns because they are "replicas" as defined by the TSA. Iâm convinced that this acronym actually stands for "Too Stupid Already."

At this point some readers may raise the question of a warrantless search, but the feds have already got that legal angle covered.
"Last year, the Supreme Court ruled unconstitutional police efforts to use noninvasive "sense-enhancing technology" that is not in general public use in order to collect data otherwise unobtainable without a warrant. However, the high court consistently exempts airports and border posts from most Fourth Amendment restrictions on searches."
"We're getting closer to reading minds than you might suppose," says Robert Park, a physics professor at the University of Maryland and spokesman for the American Physical Society. "It does make me uncomfortable. That's the limit of privacy invasion. You can't go further than that. We're close to the point where they can tell to an extent what you're thinking about by which part of the brain is activated, which is close to reading your mind. It would be terribly complicated to try to build a device that would read your mind as you walk by." The idea is plausible, he says, but frightening."
Thatâs all you need to know. If it is plausible, you can expect that it will become a reality, whether or not it actually works, because the "need" exists, the proposal is already underway, and unlike privately funded projects, the feds have no spending limit.
The concept isnât exactly new. Lawrence Farwell, a neuroscientist from Iowa, co-published a "Brain Fingerprinting" article in the Journal of Psychophysiology in 1991. Julia Scheeres also wrote a piece about it ("Thought Police Peek into Brains") for wired.com in October 2001.

The Boeing 757 and 767 are equipped with fully autonomous flight capability, they are the only two Boeing commuter aircraft capable of fully autonomous flight. They are intelligent planes, and have software limits pre set so that pilot error cannot cause passenger injury. Though they are physically capable of high g maneuvers, the software in their flight control systems prevents high g maneuvers from being performed via the cockpit controls. The flight recorders that were recovered had tape that was undamaged inside, but it was blank. There is only one way this can happen on a 757 or 767. When the aircraft are commandeered via remote control, the microphones that go to the cockpit voice recorder are re routed to the people doing the remote controlling, so that the recording of what happened in the cockpit gets made in a presumably safer place. But due to a glitch in the system on a 757/767, rather than shutting off when the mic is redirected the voice recorder keeps running. The voice recorders use what is called a continuous loop tape, which automatically re passes itself past the erase and record heads once every half hour, so after a half hour of running with the microphones redirected, the tape will be blank. Just like the recovered tapes were. Yet more proof that no pilot flew those planes in the last half hour. Eight of the hijackers who were on those planes called up complaining that they were still alive. I'd bet you never heard about our foreign minister flying to Morocco and issuing an official apology to the accused, did you? The book, appropriately called Hard Line, is set in the days of the cold war with the Soviet Union. Its hero is a male senior official at the Pentagon, working late into the night and battling almost single-handedly to rescue the US from liberal wimps at the state department who want to sign away America's nuclear deterrent in a disarmament deal with the Russians. Ten years on Mr Perle finds himself cast in the real-life role of his fictional hero - except that the Russians are no longer a threat, so he has to make do with the Iraqis, the Saudis and terrorism in general. In real life too, Mr Perle is not fighting his battle single-handed. Around him there is a cosy and cleverly-constructed network of Middle East "experts" who share his neo-conservative outlook and who pop up as talking heads on US television, in newspapers, books, testimonies to congressional committees, and at lunchtime gatherings in Washington. The network centres on research institutes - thinktanks that attempt to influence government policy and are funded by tax-deductible gifts from unidentified donors. When he is not too busy at the Pentagon, or too busy running Hollinger Digital - part of the group that publishes the Daily Telegraph in Britain - or at board meetings of the Jerusalem Post, Mr Perle is "resident fellow" at one of the thinktanks - the American Enterprise Institute (AEI). Mr Perle's close friend and political ally at AEI is David Wurmser, head of its Middle East studies department. Mr Perle helpfully wrote the introduction to Mr Wurmser's book, Tyranny's Ally: America's Failure to Defeat Saddam Hussein. Mr Wurmser's wife, Meyrav, is co-founder, along with Colonel Yigal Carmon, formerly of Israeli military intelligence - of the Middle East Media Research Institute (Memri), which specialises in translating and distributing articles that show Arabs in a bad light. She also holds strong views on leftwing Israeli intellectuals, whom she regards as a threat to Israel (see "Selective Memri", Guardian Unlimited, August 12, 2002). Ms Wurmser currently runs the Middle East section at another thinktank - the Hudson Institute, where Mr Perle recently joined the board of trustees. In addition, Ms Wurmser belongs to an organisation called the Middle East Forum. Michael Rubin, a specialist on Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan, who recently arrived from yet another thinktank, the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, assists Mr Perle and Mr Wurmser at AEI. Mr Rubin also belongs to the Middle East Forum. Another Middle East scholar at AEI is Laurie Mylroie, author of Saddam Hussein's Unfinished War Against America, which expounds a rather daft theory that Iraq was behind the 1993 World Trade Centre bombing. When the book was published by the AEI, Mr Perle hailed it as "splendid and wholly convincing". An earlier book on Iraq Saddam Hussein and the Crisis in the Gulf which Ms Mylroie co-authored with Judith Miller, a New York Times journalist, became the New York Times's No 1 bestseller. Ms Mylroie and Ms Miller both have connections with the Middle East Forum. Mr Perle, Mr Rubin, Ms Wurmser, Ms Mylroie and Ms Miller are all clients of Eleana Benador, a Peruvian-born linguist who acts as a sort of theatrical agent for

The reason for the lower numbers could be that warming water layers on top prevent cooler and more nutrient-rich waters down below from reaching the surface-dwelling plankton, which are crucial to the survival of many ocean species, the scientists said. "The whole marine food chain depends on the health and productivity of the phytoplankton," said researcher Watson Gregg of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. By measuring surface readings of chlorophyll concentrations, Gregg and colleague Margarita Conkright of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) determined that phytoplankton levels in the Northern Pacific Ocean dropped more than 30 percent since the 1980s. The North Atlantic Ocean experienced a 14 percent decline in the same period. "This is the first time that we are really talking about the ocean chlorophyll and showing that the ocean's biology is changing, possibly as a result of climate change," Conkright said. Whether the changes are caused by long-term global or short-term regional cycles remains unknown, the scientists said. In some locations, especially the equatorial regions, phytoplankon concentrations actually increased during the time period. But overall, across the entire planet, there was a net decline, they said. Besides fueling the food chain, phytoplankton plays a crucial role in cycling a primary greenhouse gas through the environment. TYLER WASHINGTON, Aug. 17 -- A covert American program during the Reagan administration provided Iraq with critical battle planning assistance at a time when American intelligence agencies knew that Iraqi commanders would employ chemical weapons in waging the decisive battles of the Iran-Iraq war, according to senior military officers with direct knowledge of the program. Those officers, most of whom agreed to speak on the condition that they not be identified, spoke in response to a reporter's questions about the nature of gas warfare on both sides of the conflict between Iran and Iraq from 1981 to 1988. Iraq's use of gas in that conflict is repeatedly cited by President Bush and, this week, by his national security adviser, Condoleezza Rice, as justification for "regime change" in Iraq. The covert program was carried out at a time when President Reagan's top aides, including Secretary of State George P. Shultz, Defense Secretary Frank C. Carlucci and Gen. Colin L. Powell, then the national security adviser, were publicly condemning Iraq for its use of poison gas, especially after Iraq attacked Kurds in Halabja in March 1988. During the Iran-Iraq war, the United States decided it was imperative that Iran be thwarted, so it could not overrun the important oil-producing states in the Persian Gulf. It has long been known that the United States provided intelligence assistance to Iraq in the form of satellite photography to help the Iraqis understand how Iranian forces were deployed against them. But the full nature of the program, as described by former Defense Intelligence Agency officers, was not previously disclosed. Secretary of State Powell, through a spokesman, said the officers' description of the program was "dead wrong," but declined to discuss it. His deputy, Richard L. Armitage, a senior defense official at the time, used an expletive relayed through a spokesman to indicate his denial that the United States acquiesced in the use of chemical weapons. The Defense Intelligence Agency declined to comment, as did Lt. Gen. Leonard Perroots, retired, who supervised the program as the head of the agency. Mr. Carlucci said, "My understanding is that what was provided" to Iraq "was general order of battle information, not operational intelligence." "I certainly have no knowledge of U.S. participation in preparing battle and strike packages," he said, "and doubt strongly that that occurred." Later, he added, "I did agree that Iraq should not lose the war, but I certainly had no foreknowledge of their use of chemical weapons." Though senior officials of the Reagan administration publicly condemned Iraq's employment of mustard gas, sarin, VX and other poisonous agents, the American military officers said President Reagan, Vice President George Bush and senior national security aides never withdrew their support for the highly classified program in which more than 60 officers of the Defense Intelligence Agency were secretly providing detailed information on Iranian deployments, tactical planning for battles, plans for airstrikes and bomb-damage assessments for Iraq. Iraq shared its battle plans with the Americans, without admitting the use of chemical weapons, the military officers said. But Iraq's use of chemical weapons, already established at that point, became more evident in the war's final phase. Saudi Arabia played a crucial role in pressing the Reagan administration to offer aid to Iraq out of concern that Iranian commanders were sending waves of young volunteers to overrun Iraqi forces.

Did you happen to read the letter in the NYTimes Tuesday about how Saddam Hussein in 1988 had "100,000 Kurdish men and boys rounded up, trucked to remote areas and machine-gunned to death, their bodies bulldozed into mass graves."? The reason I ask you of all people, Senator, is that I read in the Washington Post that you are eager to pre-emptively strike Iraq to deal with this monster, as soon as you have collected enough of a case against him. I had wondered if you put the Times letter from Human Rights Watch into your Evidence Envelope, as it certainly would persuade me we should kill as many Iraqis as it would take, with bombs and bullets, to rid the Middle East of his ugly presence. You know from my previous contacts with you and your capable staff that I consider you to be among the very best U.S. Senators, in the top ten if not the top five. So if these 100,000 machine-gunned men and boys are weighing on your decision, I think you can relax on that account. The story is pure bunk. I've looked into it and can tell you it never happened. The story actually began as a rumor picked up by two staff members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee who were in Kurdistan at the time the Iran/Iraq war ended in August 1988. They reported hearing that 100,000 Iraqi Kurds were GASSED to death by Saddam's army in a matter of days, soon after he concluded his peace with Iran. The story was dopey to begin with as most of the Iraqi Kurds of fighting age had fought side-by-side with the Iraqi army. There were a small number of Iraqi rebels among the Kurds, who defected to the Iranians expecting Iran would win the war. Of the 2 million male Kurds in Iraq, more than half were too young or too old to be rounded up and machine-gunned, so we are talking about Saddam bumping off more than 10% of the relevant population in a matter of days. The rumor would not have gone very far, Senator, but Secretary of State George Shultz held a press conference and told the world that Saddam had GASSED 100,000 men and boys of fighting age. When asked how he knew, he said it was a secret! Our State Department essentially confirmed the stupid rumor without an investigation. In the years since, Human Rights Watch has conceded all those fellas could not have been killed by gas, which the Army War College tells me has a kill rate of only 2% unless your head is in the oven. Having raised so much money, the Human Rights Watch folks had to come up with another theory, which is how they now happen to have been rounded up, machine-gunned to death, and bulldozed into mass graves. Fourteen years ago. The folks at the Army War College (who you should talk to, by the way) tell me only one "mass grave" was found, with 14 corpses, and there has been no other sign of the rest of the 100,000 bullet-riddled bodies. The reason Human Rights Watch say they were "trucked to remote areas" before being bulldozed into mass graves, one might suppose, is that modern technology can spot such doings by satellite, and no such disturbances of the land have been located. They REALLY must be remote because American newshounds sniffing around right after all this blood was supposed to have been spilled did not smell a thing. Milton Viorst of the Washington Post, who knows Kurdistan as well as any American journalist, rushed to the spot as soon as George Shultz loosed that bolt from the blue, and reported to his readers: >From what I saw, I would conclude that if lethal gas was used, it was not used genocidally -- that is, for mass killing. The Kurds compose a fifth of the Iraqi population, and they are a tightly knit community. If there had been large-scale killing, it is likely they would know and tell the world. But neither I nor any Westerner I encountered heard such allegations. Nor did Kurdish society show discernible signs of tension. The northern cities, where the men wear Kurdish turbans and baggy pants, were as bustling as I had ever seen them. I talked to armed Kurds near the border, members of Iraqi military unites mobilized against the rebels. On the other hand, Iraq probably used gas of some kind in air attacks on rebel positions. Journalists visiting the Turkish camps saw refugees with blistered skin and irritated eyes, symptoms of gassing. But doctors sent by France, the United Nations and the Red Cross have said these symptoms could have been produced by a powerful, but nonlethal tear gas. Citing national security, Mr. Shultz has declined to submit the U.S. data to scrutiny, even by America's NATO allies, though State Department sources say it is the sort of information that the United States routinely shares with them. American officials acknowledge that Mr. Shultz's evidence, chiefly radio intercepts, may be subject to
