Re-type "Time" and "Date". Observe what it displays. If it reverts to "1980", your machine has problems. Next, do this test again, except turn OFF your machine. Leave it off for awhile and then turn it back on and re-enter DOS. See what the date and time displays. If it reflects the date and time properly to the year 2000, your machine is Y2K compliant at the _DOS_ level. Next, re-boot the machine and intercept it before it's gets to DOS. You want to enter the BIOS. Once in the BIOS setup, change the time and date to just a couple of minutes before midnight on Dec 31, 1999. WATCH the time and date for the rollover. If you see the rollover perform successfully to 2000, leave the new time and date in place, turn your machine OFF, leave it off for a few minutes and then turn it back on and re-enter BIOS. If, on re-entering BIOS, you see the new time and date are still there (ie, Jan. 01, 12:18am, 2000) THEN and ONLY THEN can you claim your machine is truly Y2K compliant at _both_ the DOS and BIOS level. If it doesn't rollover, your machine definately has a problem and NO amount of cosmetic trickery with the clock display of 4-digit dates in the Control Panel will fix it. There's no halfway measure to this people. Your machine is either compliant or it isn't. Flaming others won't fix it. DO the tests on your machine and see what happens. I suggest you leave Windows out of it and go directly to DOS. This doesn't mean drop to a DOS prompt. Don't even load Windows, go directly to DOS and BIOS level. Good luck on your mission. If Tesla lived today, he'd _still_ be a "man out of time", way ahead of his time. He understood the principles of resonance, an issue I'm just beginning to grasp. I'd be real happy to figure out how to reduce the amount of RFI spikes produced by the spark gap and the tank circuit so I don't fry my home electronics while running the coil. CALL ME A PURIST!

It has been my privilege to contribute a column ("The column
formerly known as Reality Check") to this magazine for several
years, and I am grateful to editor Vicki Cooper Ecker for this
opportunity. Now, however, I have decided to resign and I feel
that I owe the readers an explanation.
As I explained in a private communication, I am just old
fashioned or simple minded enough to think that UFO Magazine
should be about UFOs, not about all the other things it is
increasingly about, such as the total domination of the June
issue by Egyptian archeology. Leave borderline science (and
sometimes beyond the fringe pseudoscience) for aficionados of
same. Leave science fiction for a science fiction publication.
Leave imaginative fiction...please!
To my way of thinking UFOs are a real, physical scientific
mystery that have been swept under the carpet by the major
institutions of our society. The failure of Government to
acknowledge the problem in an open and positive way, and the
failure of conventional news media to ferret out the story
through standard methods and investigative journalism, leaves a
very confused public. When we, the advocates of a real mystery,
mix in other oddball or offbeat ideas with UFOs and toss in
fiction and imagination, it can only lead to further confusion.
There is a clearcut need for good investigative journalism,
which Vicki and Don Ecker have demonstrated an aptitude for. But
whatever economic imperatives or organizational biases are at
work, UFO Magazine has drifted more and more toward subject
matter that has little if anything to do with UFOs. The tone of
the magazine has become uncomfortably close to anti-scientific
or anti-establishment, often entertaining some pretty far-out
notions in the process as if they were more accurate than
present knowledge.
It won't do to simply say that mainline science or scholarship
doesn't have all the answers, and that reasonable alternative
explanations are being offered. Good "borderline science"
(Fortean) research obviously is needed in many areas, and
science needs to wake up to strong evidence of anomalies. But
credible scholarship on the part of some contributing authors
often is lacking. The disc-plane article in the May issue, for
example, is simply bad history.
The speculations about alleged operational U.S. "flying saucer"
craft are totally unsupported by any objective, documented
evidence. The notion that the 1947 Arnold sighting and the 1950
McMinnville, Oregon, photographs (among other cases) could have
been secret U.S. disc craft is, frankly, nonsense. In neither
case did the UFO perform like conventional craft. Arnold's UFOs
oscillated and flipped. The Oregon object hovered silently.
Beyond that, there is not an iota of evidence that any of the
proposed aircraft ever became operational. Lots of patents and
other "paper plans" for unusual aircraft exist, but not the
actual craft itself. The AVRO "saucer" clearly never went beyond
the air cushion machine stage. Also, the author's quaint notion
that the 1955 Air Force photograph showed an actual craft in
flight is laughable. The double image is a fake.
When this sort of blatant speculation is presented as if it were
somehow superior to current knowledge, and slick "theories"
(here and elsewhere) are advanced that far outstrip good
evidence, sensible and scholarly people can only wince. Half-
baked theories are a dime a dozen, and contaminate the UFO field
on a regular basis.
Meanwhile, the relationship of many feature articles to the
serious, factual UFO mystery ranges from tenuous to nonexistent.
Already this year we have seen articles about a killer asteroid,
the future mission of the Air Force, and human evolution. We
have also seen Peter Gersten in a funny looking robe traipsing
around in the desert in pursuit of an obvious hoax. We have seen
issues devoted to fake photographs, even on how to fake
photographs, up to and including a rehash of the now thoroughly

Randomization and counter- balancing will be used in determining the order of each individual's participation, and the order in which groups of stimuli are presented. Participants will be presented with images (via a computer monitor) using the STIM system located in the Neurocognition Lab at The University of West Florida, and oral statements regarding the nature of these stimuli will be presented by the researcher, in pre- recorded form, just before each image is presented. The source who gave us this information did not mention Poland, Serbia, Romania or Bulgaria or any of the other countries that suffered under the Soviets. RMNews does not know if these countries were intended to remain part of the newly created European Union, or if they would fall once more under the Russian boot once the Iron Curtain goes back up. Our source told us that the small ethic and tribal wars that are raging around the world troubled him. It is also concerned with comparing the New Testament Gospels with the first-hand historical accounts of the era, as related in both the Roman and Jewish archives. In this regard, it details how the eventual Christian High Church corrupted and manipulated the early records to suit its own political agenda. Despite the contrived doctrine that Jesus was born of a virgin and was the 'one and only' son of God (definitions that did not feature in the original pre-Roman texts), the New Testament Gospels of Matthew and Luke actually give details ofJesus' descendant lineage from David of Israel and the Kings of Judah. This has led to the one question I have been asked more than any other during the past months. The question (in its various forms) asks quite simply: What was so special about this Bloodline in the first place? Given that the dynastic succession from Jesus has been expressly prominent insovereign and political affairs through 2,000 years - with the family constantlysupporting constitutional democracy against control by the Church establishment - its status rests upon the fact that Jesus was a lineal descendant of King David. But, what was it that made the line of David so important, and so different from any other? It was this very question which set me on the trail for my next book, Genesis of the Grail Kings, which tells the story of the Messianic line from the very beginning. The Bible explains that the Bloodline story began with Adam and Eve, from whose third son, Seth, evolved a line which progressed through Methuselah and Noah, and eventually to Abraham who became the Great Patriarch of the Hebrew nation. It then relates that Abraham brought his family westwards out of Mesopotamia (present-day Iraq) to the land of Canaan (or Palestine), from where some of hisdescendants moved into Egypt. After a few generations they moved back into Canaan where, in time, the eventual David of Bethlehem became King of the newly defined Kingdom of Israel. If viewed as it is presented in the scriptures, this is a fascinating saga; butthere is nothing anywhere to indicate why the ancestral line of David and his heirs was in any way special. In fact, quite the reverse is the case. His ancestors are portrayed as a succession of wandering territory-seekers who are seen to be of no particular significance until the time of King David. Theirbiblical history bears no comparison to, say, the contemporary Pharaohs of ancient Egypt. Their significance, we are told, comes from the fact that (from the time of Abraham) they were designated as 'God's chosen people'. But eventhis leaves us wondering, because, according to the scriptures, their God led them through nothing but a succession of famines, wars and general hardship - and, on the face of it, these early Hebrews do not appear to have been too bright! We are faced, therefore, with a couple of possibilities. Either David was not of this Abraham succession at all, and was simply grafted into the list by later writers. Or maybe we have been presented with a very corrupted version of the family's early history - a version that was specifically designed to uphold the emergent Jewish faith, rather than to represent historical fact. In consideration of this, I was reminded of precisely what I had found with the New Testament. The Gospel texts that have been in the public domain forcenturies bear little relation to the first-hand accounts of the era. The New Testament, as we know it, was compiled by the 4th-century bishops to support thenewly contrived Christian belief. But, what if the Jewish scribes had previously done exactly the same thing? Clearly, I had to get back to the more ancient writings in order to find anyanomalies.

In contrast, his brother Enki knew that humans who partook of the Tree of Knowledge (the Anunnaki wisdom) and of the Plant of Birth (the Anunnaki Star Fire) could themselves become almost like gods. Even Jehovah was said to have recognised this, and Genesis states that when Adam had taken the fruit of the Tree, Jehovah said, "Behold, the man is become as one of Us". Enki the Wise, Guardian of the Tree of Knowledge, also had another name in the Hebrew tradition.They called him Samael (Sama-El) because he was the designated Lord of Sama in northern Mesopotamia. The teachings of the early mystery-schools were very specific about the Trees of Life and Knowledge, and they emulated the very teachings of Enki himself.It was said: Nothing is obtained simply by wanting. And nothing is achieved by relinquishing responsibility to a higher authority. Belief is the act of 'beliving', for to 'be live' is to 'believe' - and Will is the ultimate medium of the Self. The Sumerian records relate that Cain's son, King Etana, partook of the Plant of Birth in order to father his own son and heir, King Baali - and the Plant ofBirth was directly associated with individual longevity and the office of Cainship, or Kingship. It was itself related to Star Fire and to pineal gland activity, and partaking of the Plant of Birth was the ritual of ingesting the Star Fire - the pure Anunnaki female essence, the Nectar of Supreme Excellence. In this regard, the Anunnaki 'flow-er' (flower or lily) was held to be the Cup-bearer, the transmitter of the Rich Food of the Matrix. In this capacity, she was called the Rose of Sharon (from the word Sha, meaning 'Orbit', alongwith the words Ra and On, relating to the ultimate temple of 'Light'). The significance of this highly venerated station is actually made apparent in the Bible's esoteric Song of Solomon wherein the Messianic Bride proclaims to the King, "I am the Rose of Sharon and the Lily of the valleys". A Star Fire recipient King was considered to have become qualified for Kingshipwhen he reached a pre-destined state of enlightened consciousness - a state when his aptitudes for wisdom and leadership had been enhanced to a realm of Kingship called the Malkû. It was from this Mesopotamian word Malkû that the Hebrewsderived their words Malchus (King) and Malkhut (Kingdom). Only in very recent times have medical scientists identified the hormonal secretion of the pineal gland, finally isolating it in 1968. The essence was called melatonin, which means 'night worker' (from the Greek, melos, meaning'black', and tosos, meaning 'labour'). Those with a high melatonin output react strongly against sunlight because it affects their mental capability; they are essentially night operatives. Melatonin is called the 'hormone of darkness' as it is produced only at night or in the dark. Exposure to an excess of sunlightactually makes the pineal gland smaller and lessens spiritual awareness, whereasdarkness and high pineal activity enhance the keen intuitive knowledge of thesubtle mind while reducing the stress factor. At this stage, it is of interest to note how it was that the Christian Church eventually demolished the true significance of the Star Fire ritual bymanoeuvring it into the realm of sinister Gothic legend. In the old tradition, the ultimate holders of the Malkhut were known as Dragons or Pendragons, and the reigning head was always known as Draco. By virtue of their bodily conditioning through supplementary melatonin and other hormonal secretions, they were in fact Princes of Darkness; and they gained their heightened awareness, above-normal powers and longevity from the Star Fire - the lunar blood of the Anunnaki Queens and the priestly Scarlet Women. As detailed in Bloodline of the Holy Grail, the brutal Catholic Inquisitions of the Middle Ages were set against all the so-called heretics who in one way or another supported the Messianic Blood Royal (the Sangréal)

And so, archaeological digs were brought under strict control, and their funding and undertakings had to be approved by newly designated authorities. One of these, the Egypt Exploration Fund, was established in Britain in 1891, and on the very first page of its Memorandum and Articles of Association it isstated that the Fund's objective is to promote excavation work "for the purpose of elucidating or illustrating the Old Testament narrative". In short, this meant that if something was found which could be used to support the scriptural teaching, then we (the public) would be informed. Anything which did not support the Church interpretation of the Bible was not destined to see the light in the public domain. Now we are going to take a look at one of the monumental finds from that era - a discovery about which very little is known to people at large. In fact, it is probably the most important biblical discovery ever made and it has stunning implications far beyond the discovery itself, for this is the ultimate story of the Phoenix and the Fire-stone. Within the Book of Exodus, a significant biblical mountain is named. It sits in the extensive range of the Sinai Peninsula - the upturned triangular land-mass which lies above the Red Sea between the Gulf of Suez and the Gulf of Aqabah. In the Old Testament, the mountain is firstly called 'Mount Horeb', then it is called 'Mount Sinai', and is subsequently called 'Horeb' again as the story progresses. The story, of course, is that of Moses and the Israelite exodus from Egypt. This was the mountain upon which, according to Exodus, Moses saw the burning bush; the mountain where he talked with Jehovah; and the place where he received the Ten Commandments and the Tables of Testimony. Something that we should recognise at this stage is that at the time of Moses (roughly 1350 BC) there was no mountain called 'Mount Sinai'. There was no mountain by that name even in the days of Jesus, nor even for another 300 years. It should also be said that the Old Testament which is familiar to us today is atranslation from a Hebrew text compiled only 1,000 years ago, and it is therefore a few centuries younger even than the canonical New Testament. The mountain now generally known as Mount Sinai sits in the south of thepeninsula, quite near to the bottom point of the upturned triangle. It was given its name in the 4th century AD by a mission of Greek Christian monks, 1,700 years after the time of Moses. It is now sometimes called 'Gebel Musa' (or 'Mount of Moses'), and a small Christian retreat, St Catherine's Monastery, still exists there. But, was this the Sinai mountain which the Bible calls'Mount Horeb'? Well, it transpires that it was not. The Book of Exodus goes into some detail to explain the route taken by Moses andthe Israelites from the Nile Delta land of Goshen, down across Sinai, across the wilderness regions of Shur and Paran, to the land of Midian (which is to the north of present-day Jordan). From this route it becomes very easy to identify the location of Mount Horeb. It sits a good deal north of Gebel Musa. The word horeb simply means 'desert', and the great desert mountain which soarsto over 2,600 feet within a high stone plateau above the Plain of Paran is today called 'Serâbît' - or, to be more precise, Serâbît el-Khâdim (the Prominence of the Khâdim). In the late 1890s, the British Egyptologist Sir William Flinders Petrie, a Professor at the University College, London, applied to the Egypt Exploration Fund to take an expedition into Sinai. By January l904, he and his team were in Sinai, and in March of that year they took their expedition to the heights of Mount Serâbît. In the following year, Petrie published the detailed results of his findings,but added to his report the fact that this information would not be made available officially to the Egypt Exploration Fund subscribers; they wouldreceive only maps and a general outline. Hoagland, of The "Enterprise Mission" homepage, has faked his recent heart attack. He performed this heinous act to ostensibly garner sympathy following a recent devastating blow to his ego and reputation after verified and authenticated reports of his continued blatant and futile attempts at (apparent and seeming) Plagiarism, Fraud and other forms of unethical and asinine behavior made him look even more ridiculous and pathetic than he has looked in the past. One man on the street was heard commenting as follows: " How anyone could do such a thing is beyond me. I didn't even think Dick Hoaxland would sink this low. This is definitely the beginning of the end for that S.O.B. " A doctor (admittedly, a Chiropractor), who shall remain nameless to protect his good reputation, when contacted for comments, made the observation that: " Even Mr. Hoagland couldn't recover from an acute myocardial infarction (severe heart attack -- Ed.) as fast as he supposedly did. Did you see the picture of him on his website, supposedly taken the day after his "open heart surgery"? I don't think so. It was probably just gas. " Yes, even medical professionals know RCH is full of hot air (or just full of "it"?), and that something stinks in Denmark regarding this obvious ruse. There can be no other explanation! Of course, Art Bell quickly joined Hoagland's cause-apparent, attempting to add further credibility to the events at hand. This backfired horribly, however, since Art Bell lost all credibility some time ago (ask anyone -- do you hear anything else anymore?). And whom among us really believed Art didn't know what was really going on. He was cooler and colder reporting on his "friend" Hoagland's "heart attack" than he was signing off for the last time (yeah, right) a few months ago in his "good by cruel world" announcement. Is this guy made of stone, or what? Either he's a heartless, emotionless bastard, or we are right about him having prior knowledge of "the event" and being "in" on the whole ordeal. Could there be any other explanation? btw - Did you catch the attempted faux emotion in Bell's voice (he's no (good) actor) -- we were expecting crocodile tears to come streaming through the speakers at any time. The net affect of Art Bell's "involvement" was to further sensationalize the media circus surrounding this oh-so-unfortunate and nasty incident, which is what we are sure was the main goal anyway (gotta tend dem ratings). More people than you would think can't wait until the day arrives when Art Bell ' farsights ' Richard Hoagland the way he did Courtney Brown (The Farsight Institute -- thereby the verbage) and David Oates (Reverse Speech) among others (or vise versa -- six of one, a half dozen of another). My book is related to the following list of little-known, officially
suppressed or publically unknown facts:
1. An American citizen (naturalized), Nikola Tesla (an athiest and a
capitalist), invented the flying saucer, before 1900, and reduced it to
practice by 1915.
2. The American government helped the Nazis steal the invention from Tesla
(who hated the Nazis),and by 1937, the Nazis were secretly developing it at
Los Alamos, New Mexico (then called the "p2" project), under the direction
of the Baron Wernher von Braun, who also collaborated in rocket research
with Dr. Robert Goddard at Roswell, funded by the American Rocket
Society (The Smithsonian Institution and the Guggenheim Foundation).
3. The American government later helped Wernher von Braun, the Nazis,
and the Trilateral Commission and Illuminati (who still retain control) remove
the "KT-p2" Projekt ("KT" is for "Kreisel-Teller" [German, for "Gyrating
Plate"], and "p2" is the electronic designation for an "oscillating
electromagnetic dipole") to Germany, after 1937.
4. The Nazis, who attempted to develop and use the flying saucer during the
war (called "Foo-Fighters" by us, "Fireballs" and "Flying Turtles" by them),
were unsuccessful in developing appropriate weapons for it until too late,
and finally traded it back to us during the stalemate of 1945, in exchange
for amnesty for numerous persons (including many war criminals), and for
other concessions and guarantees (many of which are too numerous or
incredible to mention here).
5. The U.S. government (N.S.A., O.S.I.), on behalf of the Trilateral
Commission, continues with and enforces a Nazi-originated "Big Lie"
program, in which it perpetuates the hoax that flying saucers ("U.F.O.s")
are: (a) Extraterrestrial in origin; (b) psychological phenomena ("collective
consciousness archetypal images", ala C. G. Jung); (c) swamp gas; (d)
"free-floating plasmas"; (e) piezo-electric effects; (f) ball-lightning; (g)
other natural phenomena; (h) unknown life forms; (i) hallucinations; (j)
non-existent; (k)hoaxes by attention-seekers; (l)the products of hysteria,
insanity, etc., etc.
6. The German navy surrounded the U.S. with 24 U-boats, armed with (V-6?)
I.C.B.M.s, having celestial guidance systems, and armed with neutron bomb
warheads, trained on key American cities and centers, in a 1945 stalemate;
German Admiral Karl Doenitz negotiated a secret truce and amnesty agreement
with American authorities, under which he was required to order all 24
U-boats "...scuttled, with all hands on board...", under the agreement,
pursuant to which Nazi skippers opened the hatches and the subs and all men
on board went to the bottom. Under Operation Paperclip, all Nazi scientific
research materials, most of their important scientists, and the "KT-p2
Projekt" technology, were transferred to the U.S. and to the Trilateral
Commission corporations, thus attempting to insure that the Illuminati would
retain control of the materials. Certain unusual security procedures were
initiated to insure this, including the "sacrificing" of some major German
scientists to the Soviets, to plant misinformation, and to insure that the
hoax was successful.
7. During the war, German scientists bypassed development of the "atom
bomb", and built and tested the neutron bomb. German field marshall Erwin
Rommel and the Afrika Korps were originally sent to North Africa to test the
neutron bomb, as well as Tesla's "death ray" (which freezes whole armies);
this technology was acquired by American corporations, held chiefly by David
Rockefeller, and was later sold in part back to the U.S. government and
tested in the '60s, and the same technology was again sold to the U.S.
government again in the '70s and '80s, as "star wars" technology.
8. Over 15,000 German military, technical, intelligence, and support
personnel were brought to America (mostly New Mexico-Manzano
Base, Sandia Base, White Sands Missile Range, Alamogordo,

Of all the horrendous teaching gimmicks, from the new math to open classrooms, inflicted on our children in recent years, OBE may be the absolute worst. I saw a bumper sticker recently that summed it up concisely: "Educators don't experiment on lab animals, they use children." OBE is a last desperate attempt by the public education establishment and its apologists to protect its monopoly. It promises utopian reform to reverse the unmistakable decline in the quality of instruction in recent years under the stewardship of the very same kind of people who now profess to have the answer. Actually, OBE isn't even a new idea. It's merely a warmed-over version of Dr. Benjamin Bloom's experiment with something called "mastery learning," which was tried and failed in the Chicago schools 15 years ago. It's a behaviorist notion with a political agenda rife with social engineering and biased against individualism. Today's OBE gurus include social engineer like Theodore Sizer and Robert Muller, intent on preparing our children for a New Age of Globalism. The curriculum is laden with touchy-feely behavioral modification exercises, trendy liberal values and a pervasive bias toward a collectivist approach to social interaction. Educrats call the "affective" learning, geared toward emotions, feelings and behavior, as opposed to traditional "cognitive" learning, focusing on basics such as history, literature, math and science. The OBE virus has quietly infiltrated public schools all over country, in varying degrees and under a variety of names. (Private schools don't seem very interested in it. You don't suppose there's a message there?) In Pennsylvania, where OBE is state law, students must achieve 51 "learning outcomes" to earn high school diplomas. For example: "All students explore and articulate in writing and speech, the similarities and differences among varied cultural values and the contributions of diverse cultural programs." "All students relate in writing, speech or other media, the history and nature of various forms of prejudice to current problems facing communities and nations." "all students relate basic human development theories to care- giving and child-care strategies." All students develop interpersonal communication, decision- making, coping and evaluation skills and apply them to personal, family and community living." You get the idea. It is just this kind of OBE program that Clinton is now endorsing in the frightening "Goals 2000", and it has Ted Sizer's fingerprints all over it. My basic objections to OBE are 1) I'm not willing to divert limited time available in school to these kinds of vague, social engineering projects at the expense of essential academic courses, and 2) I don't particularly want my kids indoctrinated with answers educated liberals deem "politically correct." What it points up is the basic fallacy in the premise upon which centralized public education rests; Consensus. These is no consensus i public education today. And it is unreasonable to think that there can or ought to be. Different parents want different things for their kids. Rather than forcing back-to-basics parents into the OBE mold or vice versa, why not let them choose from a myriad of options? Liberals are pro-choice right? So let us choose. Fundamental academics, OBE, letter grades on report cards, self esteem touchy-feeliness, sex education, condom distribution, multiculteralism, involuntary community service, individualism, collectivism, competition, cooperation, sports, music, etc. It's futile to craft a district curriculum with the right mix of all these things and more. Why not, instead, let a thousand flowers bloom? Continue to fund public education through taxes, but let parents select the curriculum they want, delivered in the public or private school of their choice. This is called a voucher system. I had agreed to not only bring the polygraph expert to them at their home in San Antonio, Texas, but to pay for all the expenses incurred for both polygraph tests, transportation and other related expenses. I stated in this report that Mr. Whitley Strieber would need to respond by February 4, 30-days from the time it appeared on the internet. When nothing was heard from Mr. Whitley Strieber within this 30-day period, I decided to also priority-mail a copy of this report directly to his address to ensure that he received the report. This report was mailed to Mr. Strieber on January 18, and he should have received it on January 20. As of writing this report on April 10, 1999, I have not received any reply from Mr. Strieber concerning any willingness to take this third-party sponsored polygraph test. As I have stated earlier, all of Mr. Striebers previous polygraph tests that he mentions in his books were either self-sponsored or given by people who had an interest in his passing these tests. I was trying to give Mr. Strieber the opportunity -if indeed his account is a factual one- to take a properly sponsored polygraph test which would go a long way in helping to support his claims of encounters with the visitors. My fairness and objectivity in giving these tests certainly cannot be questioned. As of this date, I have offered polygraph tests in four separate UFO-related cases. In two of those cases, the Travis Walton abduction and the Casey County, Kentucky Incident, those participants agreed to take the tests and all parties passed the polygraph examinations that I administered to them. In the Liberty, Kentucky abduction, the participants were Mona Stafford, Elaine Thomas and Louise Smith. The test was administered by Mr. James Young who, at that time, was the president of The Polygraph Association of Kentucky. Likewise, more recently, Travis Walton, Mike Rogers and Allen Dallas all agreed to take polygraph tests that were offered to them, and all three passed. In the early 90s, I offered a polygraph test -on two different occasions- to Ed Walters. On both occasions, Mr. Walters has done just what Whitley Strieber has done by not acknowledging my offer for a properly sponsored polygraph test. Inasmuch as Mr. Strieber and his wife Anne have refused to respond to my request for the polygraph test -and lacking any evidence whatsoever to support his numerous claims of encounters with visitors, it is my opinion that Mr. Whitley Strieber has perpetrated a massive hoax on not only the UFO community, but against the American people. For someone with the writing skills of Mr. Strieber to perpetrate a hoax of this magnitude is certainly unforgivable. Because of Mr. Striebers experience as a well known science-fiction writer, he has the ability to make his words more realistic, more interesting and more believable. Whitley Strieber has been called a contactee by Art Bell, because of his alleged encounters with the visitors during the middle and late 80s. The contactee, because of his numerous experiences, affords the UFO researcher an opportunity to set-up motion detection equipment, cameras, tape recorders and other instruments to try and document the incident on audiotape or film. There is even the hope that staying overnight at the alleged contactees home may result in a personal experience with the alleged visitors. I am personally unaware of any case with Mr. Strieber where any UFO researchers were able to obtain any documentation or evidence to confirm the alleged encounters with these visitors. The reasons that no information is obtainable from any of these contactees varies from case to case. In some instances, the alleged contactee -while allowing the equipment to be placed in his home for long periods of time- claims that the encounters stopped because, in his opinion, the visitors [or extraterrestrial beings] knew that the equipment was there. Cooper risks not only his life but the love of Grace Kelly and does what honor, and a higher moral compass require of him. The spineless town, which had hired him to do for them what they would not do for themselves, vacillates, cringes and waffles. Cooper, terrified and abandoned, faces the gunmen alone. At the end of the movie the killers are dead but there is no resolution. The only thing that remains is an empty street awaiting the next group of bandits. There is no Marshal, no hero, no martyr. He has left in disgust, happily for him, with Grace by his side, his badge lying in the dust. There is nothing there worthy of sacrifice. The San Jose Mercury News reported, on November 22, that hearings in the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) will take place sometime in mid to late January on Volume II of the CIA Inspector General's report on Contra drug trafficking. The Mercury calls the pending hearings, Congress' "final look" at the issue. With those hearings every issue raised by Gary Webb's stories and all the efforts of many men and women, for decades, will be laid to rest. There will be no more chances in our lifetimes. The matter will be officially closed. I offer you two scenarios. Vague recommendations are made that the CIA undertake a review of its procedures with no time-specific period for completion. The matter is closed. As CIA apologist David Korn of The Nation has predicted - "CIA gets away with it." The bandits all head for the saloon to get more whiskey, women and song. The town is doomed. Each citizen returns to hoping that someone else will be the next victim. There's a time for reading, for learning, and for waiting. There's also a time for doing. The scenario, which plays out in January, is entirely up to you. Make no mistake about the stakes. Now, _here_ is really silly -

Strieber can't make up his mind. He's vague, then blows off ufology
in a huff several years back, leaves his abduction support groups
hanging and splits. He shows back up, with new books in hand, changes
his mind about his experiences, says they're real. I believe Jerry Black makes
good points in his post. Strieber is entirely free to ignore Black, but why
not take up his challenge if he doesn't have anything to hide? Travis
Walton took up the challenge with Black and passed, so obviously he
didn't have any reason to hide anything.
Because of his writing, Strieber has put himself very much into the public eye,
including his UFO production on TV just recently. Does this mean that no one
can ask for proof of his claims without being considered "silly"? 200 cases?!
Strieber has a history of throwing hissy fits when asked to provide proof of
his abduction claims. Self-administered polygraph tests don't prove the
veracity
of his claims. If these abduction events happenned to *me*, you can darn sure
bet I would ask for independent tests, even invite people in with equipment to
monitor my living environment to get some sort of proof. Beyond proving it to
others, first I'd want to prove it to myself.
Asking for proof is not a bad thing, Steve. Travis Walton didn't back down from
Phil Klass one bit. He wrote a substantial list of questions for Klass to
respond
to and Klass couldn't make his claim(s) that Travis had made up the whole thing
to get out of the logging contract BS, stick.

In my not so humble opinion, probably the greatest Genius of this century, far surpassing Steinmetz, Edision, Marconi and Einstein. Had Edision had his way, we would have been on the DC system with step-up generators every 5-6 miles, throughout the country. Thank God for the vision of George Westinghouse, who fully supported Tesla and his 60 cycle AC power generation. Had Tesla not be thwarted by the ilk of J.P. Morgan, we would have long ago experienced real "free-energy" by his inventions. It is claimed that when Tesla died in the middle 40's, agents of the "federal government" came and carted away trunks full of his writings and plans, lest they fall into the hands of the common person and they freed themselves from the influences of the evil bankers, oil interests and power elite statists. Author, William R. Lynn, in his book, "Space Aliens from the Pentagon" (Creatopia Productions, Lamy, NM, 87540, $17.95, 505-466-3022 ) makes a compelling case that Tesla was the original inventor behind a _workable_ propulsion system for a UFO, that was known about and actually pilfered by the German rocket scientists, prior to the allies capturing Berlin in 1945. To confuse and throw people off the trail, the author alleges that the CIA/OSS engaged in a program to create revisionist history that the German's had their own UFO program, which if anyone has bothered to look at it, was mostly crap that wouldn't have ever amounted to anything. The author draws several ( and in my opinion, very correct) conclusions about the reasons why the Tesla connection was covered up, since Operation Paperclip was underway with the melding of the German intelligence ops with the then formed CIA/OSI. Essentially, The U.S. brought over legions of German scientists, NAZI's over to our country, and Canada right after the conclusion of WWII, and put them immediately into "service", possibly to work on producing UFOs with Tesla's technology, for the Secret Government. This might well the real reason for the National Security Act being passed by Truman, in 1947. In short, it seems to me that this act by Truman constitutes an illegal betrayal of American sovreignty and liberty to hide a technology that only the Secret Government wanted to themselves. The book makes some excellent points, ties together quite a few loose ends and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking to put together large portions of the "UFO puzzle". Lynn is an inventor in his own right and goes to some detailed lengths to explain the propulsion system of Tesla, included in his book. The General Accounting Office (GAO) also reported that 46 of the participating organizations said they don't expect to be Y2K ready by the industry's June target date. Furthermore, 16 percent of those organizations said they don't expect to be Y2K-compliant until the fourth quarter of 1999. The Y2K problem refers to problems computers may face during the transition from 1999 to 2000 because many computers are programmed to recognize only the last two digits of the year. Computers may recognize 2000 as 1900 or may cease to function altogether. Among the concerns is that many people may face outages in key services, such as electricity and water supply. Noting that the U.S. electric power supply industry is comprised of about 3,200 electric utilities, the GAO expressed concern about the industry's efforts to make their systems Y2K ready. "While the electric power industry has reported that it has made substantial progress in making its equipment and systems ready to continue operations in the year 2000, significant risks remain," the report said. In fact, Captain John McCarthy, US Army Special Forces (Ret.), who ran CIA assassination teams out of Saigon during the Vietnam War, told his friend, LAPD whistleblower Mike Ruppert, that "MKULTRA is a CIA acronym that officially stands for 'Manufacturing Killers Utilizing Lethal Tradecraft Requiring Assassinations'". Thus the CIA's official obsession with producing programmed killers through the MKULTRA contained more than 149 sub-programs in fields ranging from biology, pharmacology, psychology to laser physics and ESP. More recently, new evidence points to the continuous use of so-called trauma-based programming techniques to accomplish the same goal. -Caveat Lector- A personal note here first. Included article begins below. I read a recent email from Don Bradley on some website, I can't recall specifically which site, since I was jumping off links, however it seemed to be fairly recent. In this email, Mr. Bradley was loudly chiding two or three people. He made a specific point about people who disagreed with him over the issue of these camps, usually ended up calling him names, getting vulgar, etc. I believe the point made was to watch and see who did their homework/research as opposed to sitting on their fat lazy duffs and just making phone calls without checking things out and then loudly crying "hoax"! That sounds reasonable enough, Don. I think this is an issue that needs to be addressed without any zealous rhetoric, or blasting the "stupid and naive sheeple who refuse to see". There needs to be some intelligent, sane and balanced discussion about this very issue rather than the Patriots bashing the "sheeple" who don't "get it", vs the debunkers who scoff at these spurious claims when people DO go visit these camps, such as the one Rense has made a report on below, on his site. What is needed is open, Frank and honest dialogue here. No more bashing, no more value judgements. What is needed is verifiable facts so people can go check out these "over 700 concentration camps". Allen March 29, 1999 For the first time in its fifty-year history, the North Atlantic Treaty Alliance initiated an attack on a sovereign nation. Thundering over the skies of Serbia and Montenegro, NATO jets hit targets in Belgrade , Pristina, and other areas. Eleven people were reported dead after the first attack in what could be the first week of a major international war. Serbian dictator Slobodan Milosevic has vowed not to surrender his nation to its aggressors. Unlike the relentless attack on Iraq, this bombing campaign could unleash a massive retaliation. Russia is considering aid to the Serbian military, and Belarus and the Ukraine have expressed their support for whatever Russian President Boris Yeltsin decides to do. Anticipating a long war, President Bill Clinton is working on plans to send American ground forces into the midst of the Serbian-Kosovar civil war. As if enough damage had not been done in that region, sending ground troops into Serbia will surely make the situation worsen. The perpetual conflict in the Yugoslavian area is centuries old and has never been solved - and it surely will not be helped by a barrage of missiles and soldiers meeting up with Russian-backed forces. NATO stands ruined, though not explicitly. Its function as a defensive collective has been effectively ended as it now assumes the role of international police force. The alliance has broken free of its purpose and it cannot revert to its original role after it has attacked a nation that has not aggressed against another. With NATO changed in function, it joins the United Nations as a threat to the liberty of every person on the planet. The destruction of NATO began with the United States State Department and its policies. Yes, policy is supposed to be made by representatives of the people, but no longer is that so. The State Department has powers that are scary to ponder and inconsistencies equally upsetting. Its growth parallels the abdication by Congress of its duties in foreign policy - an abdication that increased as domestic functions began to expand. In many ways it is more vital for Congress to control foreign policy than domestic, since domestic spending is not going to decrease rapidly anytime soon. The power to make war is one that the President should not have, regardless of whether the proposed intervention is termed 'war' or not. Military operations are usually to the depredation of domestic liberty; conscription, taxation, inflation, and suppression of free speech are prices exacted for foreign intervention. If these prices are to be paid, trusting a single man and his State Department appointees with the decision is not respective of the Constitution or public will. The only governmental body where the interests of every citizen are - at least marginally - represented is Congress. There the people's delegates can make the decision of endorsing declarations of war. There public will about war can be felt since every state is represented. There representatives can be voted out of office for misappropriating the resources of government. In short, Congress has a much more legitimate roll in foreign policy than either the appointed foreign policy advisors or the special-interests beholden President. Unfortunately, foreign policy has been ceded to the executive branch for years. Arguments for this sort of arrangement are usually critical of Congress for its diverse views or supportive of centralized decision-making on issues of war and international politics. Either way, the intellectual justification for this strong presidency is ignorant of the rule of law. Without devices like a legislature, civil government becomes empire. In the case of America, empire has arrived but the emperor has no clothes. Clinton is rather brazen about his foreign policy being free from legal reproach, even as a few once-sleepy Republicans wake up to challenge imperialism. Congress has desperately tried to secure funding for missile defenses, but to no avail. It might approve resolutions asserting its prerogatives, but it is now irrelevant. The President has already escaped impeachment and committed US troops to Bosnia, Haiti, and Iraq without Congressional approval. For all he cares, he does not need to even inform the nation of his plans. He is only continuing what others started. Republicans cannot expect to successfully challenge the Clinton White House after they allowed the adventures in Vietnam, Panama, Grenada, and Iraq to go unchecked. Democrats still against war find that their ranks are thin. There are brave anti-imperialists in Congress, but without power within the leadership of each House there will be no serious reclamation of foreign policy. Introduction So, you're working on a couple of email messages to some friends, copying text here, pasting text there, using CTRL-C or Edit - Copy. One of the letters you are working on is to your friend Jim - you're writing Jim to tell him that after 30 years of research, you finally discovered how to make cold fusion work! Finally, free energy for the entire world!, you write. Just as soon as you announce your discovery at next week's physics convention, you'll be a billionaire. You're tired of writing though, so you decide to take a break and browse around on the 'net. You just downloaded IE5, and you're surfing around the web, minding your own business, perhaps taking a look at a few sites that you visit on a daily basis, and a few that you've never been to before. Several days later, you're watching NBC news, and see a story about a guy who just discovered how to make cold fusion work! And guess what, they used your formula! How did that guy get it?! Did he break into your home and steal it? No, while you were surfing around the 'net using IE5, one of the sites you visited decided to take advantage of a security flaw in IE5, and log the contents of your Windows clipboard to their server! The Problem Yes, you read correctly. IE5 has a security flaw that allows web servers to log the contents of your Windows clipboard cache to their server, without your knowledge or consent. Actually, the feature of allowing a site to request your clipboard data isn't the flaw. The flaw is that web sites are allowed to do it without any notification or consent needed using IE5's default security level settings. Whenever you copy text, using the edit - copy feature of just about every windows application, or hit CTRL-C to copy text, that text gets placed into the windows clipboard. You can then paste that text to Windows notepad, an email message, or wherever you feel like it. However, thanks to Microsoft IE5's default security setting, any web site using a snippit of Java/Active X code can read any and all of the text you have on your Windows clipboard. In order to give you a real world example of just how this really works, using IE5, go ahead and copy some text from another application (not from this Window, it does not work if you copy text from the IE5 window, unless you reload the page after doing so). Be sure there isn't anything in your clipboard cache that you don't want us to see - because of the way this demonstration works, your clipboard data is logged by our web server as a regular page request (in our server logs) - I can't control that. Then, click on this link to test out the IE5 clipboard flaw. If you are not currently using IE5 to view this page, you needn't bother clicking on the link, because it won't work (but the flaw can be reproduced with IE4). NOTE! -- if you want to try the link more than once, you may need to reload this page each time! If you are using IE5, and you were able to click on that link, whatever was in your clipboard cache should have been displayed in a new window. In a real world situation, however, if I wanted to log the contents of your clipboard to my server, I would disguise the code so well that you would never even know about it, and probably wouldn't even require you to click on a single link. Microsoft added an Active X control feature to IE5 called The Microsoft Dynamic HTML Editing Component, which allows web designers to add WYSIWYG editing capability to their sites. This feature has two versions: DHTML Edit Control for IE5, and DHTML Edit Control Safe for Scripting for IE5. When a web designer uses code that applies to the first version, you will be warned if an HTML page contains script that would try to access your clipboard. Vojne snage Severnoatlanske alijanse, po diktatu i interesu svetskog policajca, Sjedinjenih Americkih Drzava, a za racun siptarskih separatista i terorista, grubo su narusile teritoriju suverene Jugoslavije i brutalno ugrozile zivote njenih gradjana, saopstila je informativna sluzba Generalstaba VJ. Borbeni efektivi sistema protivvazdusne odbrane koji su pravovremeno otkrili agresorske projektile i efikasno dejstvovali nisu osteceni i ostaju u borbenom rasporedu i spremnosti za dalja dejstva. U prvom naletu svetskih agresora gadjano je preko dvadeset objekata, a dejstva jos traju. Vojska Jugoslavije preduzima sve mere odbrane i zastite. Operativna spremnost i borbena gotovost su na najvisem nivou, a raspolozenje i motivisanost vojnika i oficira je besprimerno visoka. U jedinice Vojske Jugoslavije masovno se javljaju dobrovoljci za odbranu otadzbine. Prve eksplozije do kojih je doslo posle napada NATO pakta oznacile su kraj medjunarodnog prava, suspendovale Povelju Ujedinjenih nacija i otvorile novu stranicu svetske istorije, zakljucuje se u saopstenju.

Okulic died in hospital. He was the first victim of the KLA. Armand Daci (20), an ethnic Albanian student in dentistry school, was shot and killed by a sniper. June 16: In an attack against a police patrol near Podujevo, police officer Goran Mitrovic was heavily wounded. June 17: Around 11:55 p.m. a police patrol in the village of Siplje near Kosovska Mitrovica was attacked, resulting in the killing of Predrag Djordjevic (28) from Krusevac, and the wounding of Zoran Vukocic (30) from Nis. The same day a bomb was hurled at the police station in Luzani, and the police officers on duty in the station were fired on by automatic weapons. No one was injured. July 11: One hour after midnight in the center of Podujevo terrorists carried out an armed attack against police officers, resulting in a heavy wounding of police officer Sredoje Radojevic. Aug. 2: Armed attack on three police stations (in Pristina, Podujevo, and the village of Krpimej) around 10 p.m. Aug. 28: Three bombs were hurled in the village of Celopek (border of the towns Pec-Klina-Decani), around 3 a.m. No one was injured. In the village of Donje Ljupce police inspector Ejup Bajgora (44), an ethnic Albanian who worked at the Pristina Precinct, was shot and killed. Aug. 31: In the night hours two bombs were hurled into the courtyard of the Yugoslav Army's barracks in Vucitrn. In the village of Rudnik (Srbica municipality) an armed attack was carried out on the police station. In Podujevo, police officers at the juncture of the road Pristina-Podujevo-Kursumlija were fired on. No one was hit. The police station in Glogovac was fired on with automatic weapons. Oct. 25: Two police officers were killed by automatic weapons near the village of Surkis in the Podujevo municipality -- Milos Nikolic, a police inspector of the Pristina Precinct, and Dragan Rakic from the village of Velika Reka, who was a police officer in the reserves and a manager of a company in Podujevo. Nov. 16: In the village of Rznic, in Decan municipality, around 10:30 p.m. a terrorist attack was carried out on the police station. No one was killed. Dec. 26: Faik Belopolja, an ethnic Albanian from Podujevo who was a forest worker in the Serbia Forest Service, was shot and killed. 1997 Jan. 9: In the center of Podujevo at 5:30 p.m. Malic Saholi (52), an ethnic Albanian who was the manager of the superamarket Vocar and a deputy in the municipal council of Podujevo as a member of the Socialist Party of Serbia, was shot and killed. Jan. 11: In the Vucitrn village of Mijalic, around 7 p.m. more than 26 bullets were fired at the house of Ljubisa Mitrovic. No one was killed. Jan. 13: Shooting Fazil Hasani, an ethnic Albanian forest worker from the village of Brabonic (Srbica municipality) in the neck, KLO terrorists killed him and issued a statement denouncing Mr. Hasani as a traitor. Jan. 16: Using remote-controlled explosives, the KLO attempted to assassinate the Dean of Pristina University, Mr. Papovic, at 8 a.m. as he was driving to the University. Jan. 17: In the village of Reketnica (Srbica municipality), at 1 a.m., ethnic Albanian Zen Durmisi (52) was shot and killed and his son Nazmi Durmisi was heavily wounded. The Durmisi family was labeled pro-Yugoslav by the terrorist KLA. Feb. 1: KLA terrorists from a moving vehicle fired on police officers. The officers fired back and killed all three terrorists. March 5: At 10:47 a.m., in front of the Pristina University School of Languages, a bomb in a container exploded. Four people were wounded, two ethnic Albanians -- Adrijana Dremka and Lindita Maksuti -- and two ethnic Serbs, Borivoje Popovic and Ivan Maksimovic. A second explosives device weighing 4.2 kilograms, which had been placed at the base of the Vuk Karadzic monument in front of the School of Languages, was found and deactivated by members of the Anti-Ballistics Unit of the Pristina Precinct. At the present, along with the Serbian question, the most controversial issue is the Albanian national question. The basic problem concerns security in a broader geopolitical framework, which is understandable. but at least as far as Western analysts are concerned, other issues have priority such as human rights, democracy and other issues that might become dominant in a given phase of crisis solving. The preservation of regional security and the creation of stable political-economic relations in the Balkan Peninsula are the priorities of the international community policy, since it estimates that currently the most important hotbeds on Europe are located in Kosovo and Metohija, in Albania and in western Macedonia. Judged according to investments, resources and geostrategic element, the province of Kosovo and Metohija is worth more than 500 billion dollars. This fact favored the Albanian secessionist leadership in its efforts to assume the guidance of the Albanian people which might play an important role in the global control of the south-eastern part of Europe. The premise Whoever has control of the Balkans and of Kosovo and Metohija, controls the stability and the instability of Europe has been put to good use by the Albanian leaders by trying to destabilize this part of the European continent in order to benefit by creating Greater Albania, i.e. by generating a monopoly of power and might in the Balkans. Their efforts are designed to provide the solution to the Kosovo Question by involving international factors, to the point that internationalization of the problems is sought at any cost, including inciting and taking part in terrorist activities, devised to frighten the Serbian people and force it to emigrate and abandon the land to the secessionists. The political objectives of the secessionists encompassing both conventional and unconventional forms of activities by political parties, unions, media, supported by terrorism, guerrilla, contraband, drugs smuggling and violence of all sorts, are merely a mosaic revealing a rejection of the authority of the Serbian state and of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, and a collective resistance to the Serbian people and political parties, regardless of their political programs, party activities and attitude towards the present government. Islamic Extremism and the European Quest Kosovo and Metohija is a region with enormous historical and civilizational importance, especially in view of resisting to the expansion of Islamism in Europe. The war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, concluded by the Dayton Agreement, also represents an attempt to ensure the penetration of Islamism in the Balkans and to link a major number of states and regions to the Moslem population and Islam as the religion of the majority. Part of this process includes the long-term effort of the Albanian leadership to form the Greater Albania, encompassing present day Republic of Albania, Kosovo and Metohija, as well as parts of Macedonia, Montenegro and Greece. Strikes staged by ethnic Albanian miners and university students in Kosovo and Metohija back in 1988 and 1989, have escalated into outbreaks of violence with tragic consequences, forcing the Serbian government to take energetic measures to suppress anti-government and terrorist activities and re-establish normal life condition in this part of the Republic. This is why at the beginning of the nineties, terrorist groups and their leaders adopted a new strategy which was intensified in 1996 and 1997. It was characterized by attacks focused on government institutions, Serbs, Montenegrins and ethnic Albanians which were judged to be helping the reinforcement of legal and legitimate authority of Serbia and Yugoslavia. In just a few months at the end of 1997 and at the beginning of 1998, the activity of the terrorists in Kosovo and Metohija have caused the death of more than 70 citizens and members of Serbian Police and Yugoslav Army. Today, attorneys general from 19 states met with Microsoft to negotiate a settlement in their pending antitrust suit. Unfortunately, the state attorneys general have proposed the largest peacetime takings in history. They advocate a radical plan to take control and to nationalize the software industry in America. The world has changed a great deal in the last decade. Only eight years ago the Internet was first opened up to commercial activity, and just five years ago the first web browser was introduced. However, some people are slow to recognize change. Antitrust lawyers, led by the Department of Justice and joined by 19 state attorneys general have concocted a plan to micromanage our economy. In the Microsoft case, despite a lack of evidence to show consumer harm and a court of appeals ruling that found consumer benefit from the business practices now in question, the government proposes a takeover of the software company. While the case will not likely be settled for some time, an examination of the proposals that are already on the table is troubling. At issue is a government charge that Microsoft unfairly leveraged its position in the market for operating systems to corner the market for Internet browsers. However, rather than a proposal to address alleged wrongs in the way that Microsoft conducts business, the state attorneys general propose to take over the thriving software market. Although the proposal has not been publicly released, it has been widely reported that the attorneys general would require an auction of Microsofts core asset, its source code. The regulators spin is that this would be pro-competition and pro-market. This could not be further from the truth. A free market allows a firm to build and allocate resources to meet consumer demand. It is something else entirely for the government to decide who owns or has the right to use a firms assets. This is called nationalization. This was practiced on the other side of the Berlin Wall. The proposal reportedly goes much further, which is to say that it gets much worse. Not only would Microsoft have to give up its source code, it would be forced to bring on the government as a business "partner." The state attorneys general call for ongoing access to Microsofts internal e-mail and for veto authority over significant business decisions. On top of all of this regulation, the state attorneys general propose that all contracts between Microsoft and its business partners must be done on standardized that is, government issued contracts and that any changes to licensed software must receive "certification." Economic regulation bears a heavy burden of justification. With computer and software prices falling more than a dozen browsers are now free the government is hard pressed to explain how Microsoft has harmed consumers. The recent settlement proposal is a step toward a governmental Department of Microsoft and a step away from consumers control of the marketplace through their purchasing power. At its essence, economic regulation is a statement of belief. Regulators believe that they know more about what is good for consumers than consumers do. This belief leads to some indefensible conclusions. For example, the extreme proposal of the attorneys general presumes that they know the best way to organize the marketplace and how to combine various software programs. This is absurd. In the decade since the Wall came down, who has done more to expand opportunity for all consumers the software industry or government regulators? The answer is so obvious that the only real question is how can we stand by while the government tries to nationalize an industry that has provided so much benefit to our country. Competition in a free market produces the best combination of quality, service and price while encouraging innovation. As a result, consumers benefit. American consumers can make choices for themselves. A man on the street knows more about his needs than any group of government lawyers. Skousen March 25, 1999 In November 1997, President Clinton signed a top-secret Presidential Decision Directive (PDD-60) directing U.S. military commanders to abandon the time-honored nuclear deterrence of "launch on warning." Ironically, this was done in the name of "increased deterrence." Every sensible American needs to understand why this reasoning is fraudulent at best and deadly at worst. First, some background. The impetus to change U.S. strategic nuclear doctrine came on the heels of Clinton's demand to the Joint Chiefs of Staff in early 1997 that they prepare to unilaterally reduce America's nuclear warhead deployment to 2,500 in eager anticipation of the ratification of the START II disarmament treaty. This pact has yet to be ratified by the Russian Duma. Gen. John Shalikashvili, chairman of the Joint Chiefs, responded that he couldn't comply, since the U.S. military was still operating on a former Presidential Decision Directive of 1981 to prepare to "win a protracted nuclear war." A winning strategy couldn't be implemented without the full contingent of current nuclear strategic warheads. According to Craig Cerniello of Arms Control Today (November/December 1997 issue), "the administration viewed the 1981 guidelines as an anachronism of the Cold War. The notion that the United States still had to be prepared to fight and win a protracted nuclear war today seemed out of touch with reality, given the fact that it has been six years since the collapse of the Soviet Union." Certainly, the apparent collapse of the Soviet Union is the linchpin in every argument pointing toward the relaxation of Western vigilance and accelerated disarmament. Indeed, it is the driving argument that is trumpeted constantly before Congress, U.S. military leaders, and the American people. Almost everyone is buying it -- even most conservatives who should know better. However, the most savvy Soviet-watchers can point to a host of evidence indicating that the so-called "collapse" was engineered to disarm the West and garner billions in direct aid to assist Russia while inducing the West to take over the economic burden of the former satellite states. But the most ominous evidence is found in defectors from Russia who tell the same story: Russia is cheating on all aspects of disarmament, and is siphoning off billions in Western aid money to modernize and deploy top-of-the-line new weapons systems aimed at taking down the U.S. military in one huge, decapitating nuclear strike. Contrast this with the Clinton administration's response. Incredibly, while still paying lip service to nuclear deterrence, Assistant Secretary of Defense Edward L. Warner III went before the Congress on March 31, 1998, and bragged about the litany of unilateral disarmament this administration has forced upon the U.S. military: Warner noted the "success" the Clinton administration has had in recent years, which has: Eliminated our entire inventory of ground-launched non-strategic nuclear weapons (nuclear artillery and Lance surface-to-surface missiles). Removed all nonstrategic nuclear weapons on a day-to-day basis from surface ships, attack submarines, and land-based naval aircraft bases. Removed our strategic bombers from alert. Stood down the Minuteman II ICBMs scheduled for deactivation under Start I. Terminated the mobile Peacekeeper and mobile small ICBM programs. Terminated the SCRAM-II nuclear short-range attack missile. In January 1992, the second Presidential Nuclear Initiative took further steps which included: Limiting B-2 production to 20 bombers. Canceling the entire small ICBM program. Ceasing production of W-88 Trident SLBM (submarine-launched missile) warheads. Halting purchases of advanced cruise missiles. Stopping new production of Peacekeeper missiles (our biggest MIRV-warhead ICBM). You have been certified as the legal landowner and/or contractor who did the following unauthorized activity: Construction and maintenance of two wood debris dams across the outlet stream of Spring Pond. A permit must be issued prior to the start of this type of activity. A review of the Department's files shows that no permits have been issued. Therefore, the Department has determined that this activity is in violation of Part 301, Inland Lakes and Streams, of the Natural Resource and Environmental Protection Act, Act 451 of the Public Acts of 1994, being sections 324.30101 to 324.30113 of the Michigan Compiled Laws, annotated. By Robert Lemos, ZDNN March 29, 1999 5:49 PM PT Two software engineers have extracted information from the Melissa virus that appears to lead to an account on America Online Inc. and a Web site that, if matched with a person, could lead law enforcement officials to the author of the prolific virus. The key is a controversial serial number, called the Global Unique Identifier or GUID, which is included in files created with Microsoft Corp.'s (Nasdaq:MSFT) Office, as well as some other applications, including Visual Basic. The serial number raised the concern of privacy advocates just a few weeks ago for its ability to be used to trace certain documents back to their creator. That's exactly what two software engineers have done. Using the unique number, Richard M. Smith, president of software tools developer Phar Lap Software Inc., and Fredrik Bjorck, a Swedish PhD student at Stockholm University's Department of Computer and System Sciences, have tracked down the virus writer to at least one specific Web site. We can't be one hundred percent sure, said Smith. There is a possibility that (the Web site author) was framed. There is a possibility of little green men coming from Mars, too. In other words, the electronic fingerprints on the Melissa virus inserted in the Word macro and those on the documents posted on the Web site are the same. The electronic fingerprint, called the media access control (MAC) address, is a unique serial number for a PC's Ethernet card. The Web site belongs to a malicious hacker, and a writer of virus tools, known by several handles, including VicodinES, Sky Roket, John Holmes, and Johnny One Leg Johnson, among others, according to Smith. Posted on alt.sex Sky Roket is the name of an America Online user, and is also the name on the original e-mail that posted Melissa to the alt.sex newsgroup. But Smith believes that Sky Roket is being used to camouflage the activities of VicodinES. America Online (NYSE:AOL) would not comment on whether that particular user was being investigated by the FBI. The FBI also declined to comment on any potential investigation. However, whoever controls Sky Roket has a history of posting viruses. Under the same handle, at least three viruses were posted in late 1997 in exactly the same manner (1, 2, and 3). All were attributed to VicodinES's authorship. According to Phar Lap's Smith, the MAC address derived from the Word document's GUID and the one derived from the documents on Web sites registered to VicodinES and Sky Roket match. The connection was first pointed out by Bjorck in Sweden. ZDNN has independently confirmed that documents accompanying an Office 2000 macro virus on VicodinES's Web site, created by the person using the Vicodin handle, include the same electronic fingerprint as the Melissa virus. Another one of VicodinES's files is stored on Skyroket's personal site on AOL. This could be a costly mistake for the writer. The FBI is looking to prosecute the writer with a fine of $350,000 and five to 10 years, according to statements made by Michael Vatis, director of the National Infrastructure Protection Center.

I know I promised to let you hear from me at least once a month, and from now on you will, but I have had to have some time to think about this first letter. Almost daily since my return to England I have thought about writing, about what I want to and ought to say. First, I want to thank you, not just for saving me from the draft, but for being so kind and decent to me last summer, when I was as low as I have ever been. One thing which made the bond we struck in good faith somewhat palatable to me was my kind regard for you personally. In retrospect, it seems that the admiration might not have been mutual had you known a little more about me, about my political beliefs and activities. At least you might have thought me more fit for the draft than for ROTC. Let me try to explain. As you know, I worked for two years in a very, minor position on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. I did it for the experience and the salary but also for the opportunity, however small, of working every day against a war I opposed and despised with a depth of feeling I have reserved solely for racism in America before Vietnam. I did not take the matter lightly but studied it carefully, and there was a time when not many people had more information about Vietnam at hand than I did. I have written and spoken and marched against the war.One of the national organizers of the Vietnam Moratorium is a close friend of mine. After I left Arkansas last summer I went to Washington to work in the national headquarters of the Moratorium, then to England to organize the Americans here for demonstrations Oct. 15 and Nov. 16. Interlocked with the war is the draft issue, which I did not begin to consider separately until early 1968. For a law seminar in Georgetown, I wrote a paper on the legal arguments for and against allowing, within the Selective Service System, the classification of selective conscientious objection for those opposed to participation in a particular war, not simply to participation in war in any form. From my work I came to believe that the draft system itself is illegitimate. No government really rooted in limited, parliamentary democracy should have the power to make its citizens fight and kill and die in a war they may oppose, a war which even possibly may be wrong, a war which, in any case, does not involve immediately the peace and freedom of the nation. The draft was justified in World War II because the life of the people collectively was at stake. Individuals had to fight, if the nation was to survive, for the lives of their countrymen and their way of life. Vietnam is no such case. Nor was Korea, an example where, in my opinion, certain military action was justified but the draft was not, for the reason stated above. Because of my opposition to the draft and the warI am in great sympathy for those who are not willing to fight, kill and maybe die for their country (i.e., the particular policy of a particular government) right or wrong. Two of my friends at Oxford are conscientious objectors. I wrote a letter of recommendation for one of them to his Mississippi draft board, a letter which I am more proud of than anything else I wrote at Oxford last year. One of my roommates is a draft resister who is possibly under indictment and may never be able to go home again; He is one of the bravest, best men I know. His country needs men like him more than they know. That he is considered a criminal is an obscenity. The decision not to be a resister and the related subsequent decisions were the most difficult of my life. I decided to accept the draft in spite of my beliefs for one reason: to maintain my political viability within the system. For years I have worked to prepare myself for a political life characterized by both practical political ability and concern for rapid social progress. It is a life I still feel compelled to lead. I do not think our system of government is by definition corrupt, however dangerous and inadequate it has been in recent years. (The society may be corrupt, but that is not the same thing, and if that is true we are all finished anyway.) When the draft came, despite political convictions, I was having a hard time facing the prospect of fighting a war I had been fighting against, and that is why I contacted you. ROTC was the one way left in which I could possibly, but not positively, avoid both Vietnam and resistance.
