Creating the group 513 "by hand" works perfectly, but nonetheless shouldn't "mkpasswd" and "mkgroup" create automatically an "usable" system? If I use "-d" on both I get the correct 10513 group, but creating both with "-l" creates users in group 513 but creates no group 513. -- Lapo 'Raist' Luchini [EMAIL PROTECTED] (PGP & X.509 keys available) http://www.lapo.it (ICQ UIN: 529796) -- Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple Bug reporting: http://cygwin.com/bugs.html Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/

Is that NT4 server a DC? If so, try if `mkgroup -d' returns the "Domaenenbenutzer" ("Domain Users") group. As I already wrote, this group exists always on all NT versions. It's just renamed to "Domain Users" if a system is configured as PDC. For those who are interested. It's a piece of code in mkgroup which always tries to figure out the name of the 513 group when the -l option is given.
