Re: Fw: Stark difference in COVID-19 death rates between vaccinated and unvaccinated

2021-10-10 Thread jim bell

Then you are very confused.  I began mentioning potentially anti-COVID drugs
(Chloroquine) as early as 2/8/2020, about 10 months before the COVID vaccines
became available. That was at least a month BEFORE Chloroquine became
controversial, due solely to the fact that Trump mentioned it.  (TDS)
I mentioned Ivermectin early on, well before the 'veterinary product' thing.
And that became relevant solely because doctors were failing to provide
prescriptions for human-labelled Ivermectin:. The main way a person could get
Ivermectin was to buy it in forms commonly available on Amazon.  So I bought a
dozen tubes.  Haven't used even one.
(I first learned about Ivermectin about 2013, when I noticed it was used as an
ant-killer).
Early on, I also mentioned Famotidine, the generic name for the antacid Pepcid.
Again, this was months before any vaccine became available.  As I understand
it, perhaps the Chinese discovered that people with famotidine in their system
tended to die at a smaller rate than those who had taken a more-expensive
antacid.
So, I bought 8 bottles of famotidine from a local Walmart, to ensure I had it
before it became scarce.  I've never used any of them.
As for Jeff Berwick, who you repeatedly label 'right-wing':. I won't limit my
'preaching' to the 'choir'.  He claims to be an 'anarchist', but I think he's
not one of those big-government-loving leftists who call themselves
'anarchists' but who really just want to replace one kind of government with
Communist or Socialist tyranny.

Another aspect here is that experienced hackers like Snowden have
probably trained their memory and their capacity for forming
conceptual inferences to be much more powerful than those of the
workers teaching the class.

The instructor may expect everyone to believe what he says, even when
exposed to differing information, until people like Snowden
demonstrate otherwise. Because it worked in the past, before you
needed to have incredible cognitive skills to be effective at
international conflict.

[crazy] Undiscussed Secrets In Plain Sight

2021-10-10 Thread Karl
I was thinking on parallel construction, and remembering two scenes
from the Snowden movie. Movies are like a way to remember things that
are a little similar to reality if you can't pay attention to anything
more serious.

In one scene, Snowden is learning how the NSA spies on people
"lawfully". His instructor is teaching a bunch of newbie spies about
this, and the instructor says something that is blatantly false but
sounds kind of true if you don't go too deep into it. He claims that
this spying is legal and constitutional.

In another scene, Snowden is doing advanced work among surveillance
workers, and he is referred to as "snow white" in parallel to having
concerns around spying on people without due process. It is the
introduction to engaging in illegal spying as a matter of course.

What's notable here, is that a bunch of people are breaking the law,
and are aware of doing so, but talking to each other as if they are
not breaking the law. Additionally, people who come out around not
wanting to do this, are persecuted on an international level by
multiple governments and other organizations.

I imagine there being wealthy or powerful people pulling strings and
cleaning up, and the workers who do their work basically just adapting
to this situation in various ways, maybe knowing or not knowing what
it is, I don't know, so as to succeed.

I'm thinking of that part where the newbie spies are taught that the
illegal work is legal. There's a possibility there that the
instructor knows it isn't legal. Meanwhile, each spy finds out in his
or her own way, and many don't find out, that it is not actually
legal.

The situation seems to parallel many others. And this kind of
situation has played a big role on this list.

It's hard for me to think about. I think most people kind of "pick
up" that you talk about it as if it is legal. I feel like this must
be analogous to something socially normal, for so many people to pick
it up, but I'm not sure what.

Why would it be normal for so many people to comply with unspoken,
constantly-changing rules? --> Maybe because the rules _are_ spoken.

The instructor gave them to the newbie spies when he revealed by
action that the entire system they were in was a part of it. This
implies something. The thing it implies is very vague, and it seems
to stay vague as far as the movie is concerned. But even though it is
very vague, it is very clear that it is very real and very powerful.

So the social norm would be like hushing about the weight of an obese
+ popular person. Maybe.

It's hard to think about. But it could save one's life to comprehend it.

It's never good to keep genocide secret, but I guess you can get
killed when you talk about it to the people who are trying to cover it
up.

“Programmable Digital Currency”: The next stage of the new normal?

The war on cash’s endgame is here: money replaced by vouchers subject
to complete state control.

Building on the bitcoin model, central banks are planning to produce
their own “digital currencies”. Removing any and all remaining
privacy, granting total control over every transaction, even limiting
what ordinary people are allowed to spend their money on.

>From the moment bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies first emerged, sold
as an independent and alternative medium of exchange outside the
financial status quo, it was only a matter of time before the new
alternative would be absorbed, modified and redeployed in service of
the state.

Enter “Central Bank Digital Currencies”: the mainstream answer to bitcoin.

For those who have never heard of them, “Central Bank Digital
Currencies” (CBDCs) are exactly what they sound like, digitized
versions of the pound/dollar/euro etc. issued by central banks.

Like bitcoin (and other crypto), the CBDC would be entirely digital,
thus furthering the ongoing war on cash. However, unlike crypto, it
would not have any encryption preserving anonymity. In fact, it would
be totally the reverse, potentially ending the very idea of financial
privacy.

Now, you may not have heard much about the CBDC plans, lost as they
are in the tangle of the ongoing “pandemic”, but the campaign is
there, chugging along on the back pages for months now. There are
stories about it from both Reuters and the Financial Times just today.
It’s a long, slow con, but a con nonetheless.

The countries where the idea progressed the furthest are China and the

Other countries, including New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and
Malaysia, are not far behind.

The US is also researching the idea, with Jerome Powell, head of

The proposals for how these CBDCs might work should be enough to raise

Re: [ot][spam][crazy][joke] Pining After Troll Hugs

2021-10-10 Thread Karl
I want to clarify here, that, although I am using my aggressive
triggers to do the kind speaking, I am very much trying to _actually
be kind_. Not to do some strange kind of "harmful attack with
kindness".

It is very important that we find actual kindness and develop it, at
least within the healing systems of our own bodies if nowhere else.

There is no war going on at the moment. We are just chest-thumping in
deadly ways.

[ot][spam][crazy][joke] Pining After Troll Hugs

2021-10-10 Thread Karl
In my confused, scattered, delusional states of mind, I found
yesterday political brainwashing nirvana.

I can learn to speak kindly again by trying aggressively at prof rat!

Yesterday, all day, I waited by my email for emails from him to come
in. So I could practice speaking nice in reply to them.

I have a lot of trouble speaking nice. But part of me was trying to
(omg) _hurt_ profrat. So that part of me can let me _fail_ at
speaking nice by doing it to him, and then I can _relearn_ via
practice!

It's a nice idea if I can freakin` keep it up. Probably I'll expire
later today.

Level 2 appears to be when profrat stops posting much, doing it just
in bursts, so I spend most of my time just waiting, with no emails
coming in.

But like all challenges, this is a further lesson: here i can work on
my social memory, and start developing the ability to remember what we
were talking about, in some way or another. Or I can spread my wings,
and try speaking kindly to other people than just him.

I had more dissociated joke copings to say, but I guess that's it for now.

Hugging what appears harmful has always worked incredibly well for me,
aside from those times when they are hugging you to kill you. Those
are more frequent nowadays, so I try to be an undead cyborg.

Brits returning from holiday may be forced to take COVID tests on a
live video call with “health advisers” to prove they’re not lying
about the result.

Yes, really.

Double vaccinated travellers who return to Britain will be able to
forego a PCR test in favor of a cheaper lateral flow swab.

However, the government is “concerned that those taking the tests
could lie about the results.”

To prevent that from happening, the Health Secretary “is proposing
travellers do their lateral flow test on video calls supervised by a
health adviser from a private firm,” reports the Mail.

The change is set to be implemented on October 25th.

As we highlighted earlier, Australia has implemented an even more
draconian scheme that mandates its citizens to provide geo-trackable
selfies to police to prove they are staying at home.

Under a home quarantine pilot program in Victoria, Aussies will
receive random phone calls from the government which they will have to
reply to “within five minutes with a selfie sent to an app which will
then geo-track where that person is and to make sure they are who they
say they are as well.”

If they refuse to do so, health authorities will “come knocking,”
according to a 9 News report.

What’s next? People under self-isolation being mandated to wear
electronic tracking bracelets?

That was already under consideration, so it’s probably not too far away.

silence over opinions that the Biden Administrations doesn’t like.
However, it’s worth going though some of the other reasons why this
misconduct by federal law enforcement is is so appalling, and to
remind parents why they should not be deterred.

Many parents in Illinois and across the country have spoken out
recently with unprecedented anger in unprecedented numbers at school
board meetings and beyond. Their complaints have been about Critical
Race Theory in classrooms, mask mandates and explicit materials for
minors about sexuality and gender. We’ve written here often supporting
some of those complaints. My colleague Ted Dabrowski and I have
participated in some of the efforts directed toward our own childrens’
schools.

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland

But on Monday, Garland issued a directive to the FBI and federal law
enforcement officials across the nation to focus on alleged criminal
conduct in protests by parents.

Outrage ensued immediately, and appropriately, from parents, their
organizations and commentators who are infuriated that a threat of
federal law enforcement is being used to try to scare them out of
constitutionally protected speech.

Garland’s Department of Justice has responded simply by saying it
isn’t true, and its defenders, particularly MSNBC, have cited examples
of conduct by parents that allegedly were either inappropriate or
illegal.

Linked here are Garland’s directive and an accompanying DOJ press
release. They should be read in conjunction with a letter sent by the
National School Boards Association late last month to President Biden,
which gave rise to the directive. It claimed that school officials are
“under immediate threat” and asked Biden to sic nearly the full force
of the national security establishment on offending parents.

It contains these astonishing requests, from which you would think the
entire Taliban is loose in America:

NSBA respectfully asks that a joint collaboration among federal
law enforcement agencies, state and local law enforcement, and with
public school officials be undertaken to focus on these threats. NSBA
specifically solicits the expertise and resources of the U.S.
Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S.
Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Secret Service, and its National
Threat Assessment Center regarding the level of risk to public
schoolchildren, educators, board members, and facilities/campuses. We
also request the assistance of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service to
intervene…. including any technical assistance necessary from, and
state and local coordination with, its National Security Branch and
Counterterrorism Division, as well as any other federal agency with
relevant jurisdictional authority and oversight. Additionally, NSBA
requests that such review examine appropriate enforceable actions
against these crimes and acts of violence under the Gun-Free School
Zones Act, the PATRIOT Act in regards to domestic terrorism, the
Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, the
Violent Interference with Federally Protected Rights statute, the
Conspiracy Against Rights statute, an Executive Order to enforce all
applicable federal laws for the protection of students and public
school district personnel, and any related measure.

The DOJ was happy to oblige. It’s directive, as you can see in the
documents they released, is much shorter but conveys the same point.

And the DOJ made sure that school boards and officials will be trained
in how to be claimed as victims who can call on those enforcement
mechanisms. From the DOJ press release:

The Justice Department will also create specialized training and
guidance for local school boards

We’ve written extensively about the “war on cash.”

In a nutshell, governments would love to do away with cash in order to
better track and control their citizens. There have been numerous
moves closer to a cashless society in recent years, from capping ATM
withdrawals to doing away with large-denomination bills. Last year,
China launched a digital yuan pilot program and the US has floated
moving toward a digital dollar.

We got a first-hand look at what happens when governments restrict
access to cash when India plunged into a cash crisis after the
country’s government enacted a policy of demonetization in November
2016.

It’s bad enough that various countries are exploring ways to move
toward cashlessness, but there’s an even worse scenario - a global
digital currency.

Economist Thorsten Polleit compares it to the “master ring” in J.R.R.
Tolkien’s classic Lord of the Rings.

1.

Human history can be viewed from many angles. One of them is to see it
as a struggle for power and domination, as a struggle for freedom and
against oppression, as a struggle of good against evil.

That is how Karl Marx (1818–83) saw it, and Ludwig von Mises
(1881–1973) judged similarly. Mises wrote:

The history of the West, from the age of the Greek Polis down to
the present-day resistance to socialism, is essentially the history of
the fight for liberty against the encroachments of the officeholders.

But unlike Marx, Mises recognized that human history does not follow
predetermined laws of societal development but ultimately depends on
ideas that drive human action.

>From Mises’s point of view, human history can be understood as a
battle of good ideas against bad ideas.

Ideas are good if the actions they recommend bring results that are
beneficial for everyone and lead the actors to their desired goals;

At the same time, good ideas are ethically justifiable, they apply to
everyone, anytime and anywhere, and ensure that people who act upon
them can survive.

On the other hand, bad ideas lead to actions that do not benefit
everyone, that do not cause all actors to achieve their goals and/or
are unethical.

Good ideas are, for example, people accepting “mine and yours”; or
entering into exchange relationships with one another voluntarily. Bad
ideas are coercion, deception, embezzlement, theft.

Evil ideas are very bad ideas, ideas through which whoever puts them
into practice is consciously harming others. Evil ideas are, for
example, physical attacks, murder, tyranny.
2.

With Lord of the Rings, J. J. R. Tolkien (1892–1973) wrote a literary
monument about the epic battle between good and evil. His fantasy
novel, published in 1954, was a worldwide success, not least because
of the movie trilogy, released from 2001 to 2003.

What is Lord of the Rings about? In the First Age, the deeply evil
Sauron—the demon, the hideous horror, the necromancer—had rings of
power made by the elven forges.

Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,

Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,

Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,

One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne

In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,

One Ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them.

In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

But Sauron secretly forges an additional ring into which he pours all
his darkness and cruelty, and this one ring, the master ring, rules
all the other rings.

When Sauron puts the master ring on his finger, he can read and
control the minds of everyone wearing one of the other rings.

The elves see through the dark plan and hide their three rings. The
seven rings of the dwarves also fail to subjugate their bearers. But
the nine rings of men proved to be effective: Sauron enslaved nine
human kings, who were to serve him.

Then, however, in the Third Age, in the battle before Mount Doom,
Isildur, the eldest son of King Elendils, severed Sauron’s ring finger
with a sword blow. Sauron is defeated and loses his physical form, but
he survives.

Now Isildur has the ring of power, and it takes possession of him. He

Southwest Pilots Union Sues To Block Airline's Vaccination Mandate

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-10-09/southwest-air-pilots-seek-to-block-covid-vaccination-mandate

In what appears to be one of the first cases of a union pushing back
against the new COVID vaccination requirements handed down by the
Biden Administration, a union representing pilots at Southwest
Airlines is suing to stop the vaccine requirement from being forced
until a lawsuit is resolved.

Bloomberg reports that the union representing Southwest's pilots has
asked a court to grant a temporary stay against the federal
vaccination rules until an ongoing lawsuit over what they allege are
violations of US labor laws is resolved.

In a court filing on Friday, the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association
also asked for an immediate hearing on the request before a federal
court in Dallas, claiming the carrier has continued to take unilateral
actions that violate terms of the Railway Labor Act, which governs
relations between airlines and employee unions. The "unilateral
action" in question is the company's attempt (at the Biden
Administration's direction) to force workers to either get the jab, or
be fired or sent on unpaid leave, Bloomberg reports.

"The new vaccine mandate unlawfully imposes new conditions of
employment and the new policy threatens termination of any pilot not
fully vaccinated by December 8, 2021," the legal filing said.
"Southwest Airlines’ additional new and unilateral modification of the
parties’ collective bargaining agreement is in clear violation of the
RLA."

According to the guidelines set out by President Biden (and
"voluntarily" embraced by most of the major airlines), Southwest has a
deadline of Oct. 4 under the federal mandate for employees to get
jabbed or have an approved medical or religious exemption. SW is
affected by the mandate because it has contracts with the federal
government (like many large businesses).

The union represents 9,000 pilots at the airline, and a strike could
easily disrupt American air travel (remember the air traffic
controllers strike in the 1980s?)

For whatever reason, the airline isn't backing down, insisting that
the vaccination mandate (which airline CEOs have gone on TV to defend)
isn't an issue subject to labor-management negotiation, and that
anybody who refuses the jab without an exemption will be fired.

“The airline disagrees with SWAPA’s claims that any Covid-related
changes over the past several months require negotiation,” Southwest
said in an emailed statement. The carrier is committed to working with
its unions “as we continue navigating the challenges presented by the
ongoing pandemic.”

Unfortunately for the Southwest, the vaccine mandate isn't the only
COVID-related policy that the pilots have taken issue with.

Other policies the union seeks to block include Southwest’s Covid
quarantine rules for pilots and an infectious disease control policy
that it says significantly altered work conditions, rules and rates of
pay, until the two sides negotiate a resolution to alleged contract
violations outlined in its original Aug. 30 lawsuit. The changes
violate a “status quo” provision of the RLA by not maintaining terms
of an existing contract during negotiations, the lawsuit claimed.

Pilots are also uniquely at risk because (as a growing number of
Nordic countries impose new restrictions on mRNA vaccines, and amid
skepticism about whether vaccines are really worth it for the young
and healthy) an adverse reaction to the vaccine could cost them their
pilots' license.

Pilots are at a unique risk because adverse reactions to a vaccine
could affect their ability to pass periodic medical examinations
required to maintain their license. The union wants to negotiate,
among other things, how such instances would be covered by long-term
disability policies.

Understandably, before agreeing to all these restrictions, the union
wants to make sure any pilot affected in this manner receive
disability.

Iceland on Oct. 8 halted the use of the Moderna vaccine against the
CCP virus due to reports from Nordic countries of “increased
incidence” of inflammation of heart muscle and tissues triggered by
the injection.

Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Norway have already limited the use of
the Moderna vaccine over the same concerns. Iceland went further than
its neighbors and stopped using the vaccine entirely.

“In recent days, there has been data from the Nordic countries on
the increased incidence of myocarditis and pericarditis after
vaccination with Moderna vaccine in addition to vaccination with
Pfizer/BioNTech (Comirnaty),” an announcement from Iceland’s
Directorate of Health stated.

“As there is a sufficient supply of Pfizer vaccine in Iceland for
both the pre-vaccine activation vaccines and the primary vaccinations
of those who have not yet been vaccinated, the epidemiologist has
decided not to use the Moderna vaccine in Iceland, while providing
further information on the safety of the Moderna vaccine.”

Sweden limited the use of the Moderna shot on Oct. 6 to those born
before 1991. The Swedish health agency said at the time that new data
from Swedish and other Nordic sources “indicate that the connection is
especially clear” between Moderna’s vaccine and side effects
“especially after the second dose.”

“Both myocarditis and pericarditis often go away on their own,
without causing any lasting problems, but suspicious symptoms should
be assessed by a doctor at … a health center or emergency room,” the
agency stated, noting that “medical treatment and monitoring in
hospital may be needed in established cases.”

Norway and Denmark have recommended the Pfizer vaccine for children
aged 12-17. In Iceland, only the Pfizer vaccine has been recommended
for the 12-17 age group.

Finland on Oct. 7 discontinued the use of the Moderna shot for men
under the age of 30.

That decision came one day after Sweden and Denmark halted the use of
the vaccine for the younger age groups.

Iceland had been using the Moderna vaccine almost exclusively as a
booster shot for those who received the Johnson vaccine,
according to the Health Directorate. The Nordic nation had also been
using the Moderna vaccine as a booster for two-dose vaccinations of
the elderly and immunocompromised.

According to the World Health Organization, more than 75 percent of
Iceland’s population has been fully vaccinated against the CCP
(Chinese Communist Party) virus, commonly known as the novel
coronavirus, which causes COVID-19.

A total of 33 people died from COVID-19 in Iceland since the start of
the pandemic.

As governments around the world begin instituting Covid-19 'passports'
which will dictate the level of participation one is afforded within
society - regardless of naturally acquired immunity or actual risk to
the public from the unvaccinated (considering that the majority of
transmission occurs in the home), people have begun to push back
against authoritarian tactics to control privileges and push vaccines.

the hell he and his wife are currently living due to their decision
not to get vaccinated.

My country of Lithuania has imposed very severe measures against
people who do not have a Covid Pass.

How severe?

• You're banned from large supermarkets.
• Banned from non-essential stores.
• Banned from restaurants.

And a lot more.

Here's what has happened:

— Gluboco Lietuva (@gluboco) September 23, 2021

(Continued via threadreaderapp):

Lithuania is a small EU country of 2.8 million people.

Lithuania introduced a Covid Pass in May. It's called the “Opportunity
Pass”. The Opportunity Pass allows you the opportunity to participate
in society. Without the Opportunity Pass, you don't have opportunity:
your rights are restricted.

The government app shows the fun you'll have participating in the
opportunities of society if you have the Opportunity Pass. There is no
illustration of life for people without the Pass.

In August, Lithuania passed a law to restrict the rights of people who
don't have the Covid Pass. Other countries are moving in that
direction. In Lithuania, it's already in force: all restrictions are
already fully effective, and enforcement is strict.

Without a Pass, you may not enter any shopping center or large
supermarket. At the entrances, people queue in line to be verified.
Guards scan the Pass of each person. If you have a valid Pass, the
light flashes green and beeps. Then you may enter. No Pass, no
entrance.

Without a Pass, you may only shop in small stores which mainly sell
food, pharmaceuticals, glasses and contact lenses, veterinary goods,
or farming supplies. You may not enter stores which mainly sell other
products.

Without a Pass, you may not enter any restaurant, cafe, or bar.
Without a Pass, you may not enter banks or insurance companies, except
for essential purposes - e.g., pensions or social benefits - where the
service lasts no longer than 15 minutes.

Without a Pass, you may not visit patients in medical facilities or
senior care/residential homes. The only exception is for
terminally-ill patients and children under 14 years of age, if the
doctor gives advance permission.

Without a Pass, you may not enter indoor public events or spaces, such
as conferences, fitness centers, or beauty services like hair and
nails.

The Pass is in the form of a QR code. Most people get it on their
phones thru e-banking/e-signature. Those without phones can get a
paper printout.

Officials launched a re-vaccination program in September. Seniors
began receiving third dose boosters last week. The whole population
will follow afterwards. The Vice-Minister of Health stated: "We are
likely to start the fourth and fifth booster shots in several months."

For providing reliable anonymity against the US and UK government
agencies in the form of the NSA and GCHQ, yes, Tor is completely useless.

Against a lesser adversary, well there are many other possible attacks
against Tor's anonymisation - I particularly liked the hitting set
attack - and I don't keep up in detail, so while Tor probably provides
some protection I don't really know how much.

There is another factor to consider though - the best position for a
code-breaking agency to be in is if they can break the code but
everybody else thinks they can't and so continues using the broken code.

That is pretty much the position of USG/NSA with respect to Tor, which
is why USG fund 80% of it. [4]

The phrase "bodyguard of lies" comes in here, as does eg subsection
56(1) of the UK's Investigatory Powers Act 2016, see [5] below (you can
tell a lot about what spy agencies are doing by studying the relevant
legislation)

The result of this that while NSA and GCHQ may know, they aren't
necessarily going to tell anybody, at least not about the routine stuff.

Even in Bin-Laden-hunt situations the most they might say is that they
got some chatter (or whatever the current circumlocution is) indicting
some intelligence may be correct or a direction for investigation.

As for dumping everything they know about eg dark nets to the FBI or
local cops, it ain't likely to happen soon. Though it might, one day..

Incidentally that's why other agencies like the FBI and the NCA in the
UK at least apparently, and probably actually, do the work which leads
to criminal convictions on darknets.

I suspect they get a little "help" from the code guys, like "you can't
use that in court" or maybe "try looking in a different direction".

[4] It also has the to-them benefit: "to aid democracy advocates in
authoritarian states" while they can still tell who is who, if not
(mostly) what is said. To do this it has to provide some level of
protection against lesser adversaries, though that may not be a very
high level. cf the anonymity of Afghan translators who worked for the
British Army...

[5] (1)No evidence may be adduced, question asked, assertion or

(b)tends to suggest that any interception-related conduct has or may
have occurred or may be going to occur.

[6] #TOR FAQ: Criminals can already do bad things. Since they're willing
to break laws, they already have lots of options available that provide
better privacy than Tor provides

Tor aims to provide protection for ordinary people who want to follow
the law. Only criminals have privacy right now, and we need to fix that

So yes, criminals could in theory use Tor, but they already have better
options, and it seems unlikely that taking Tor away from the world will
stop them from doing their bad things.

At the same time, Tor and other privacy measures can fight identity
theft, physical crimes like stalking, and so on.

As I have said I'm not totally up-to-date on Tor, but probably not much.
