To write out where? It's difficult to answer questions when we don't
know what you are talking about.
The folder I want to use drag-and-drops this:
file:///HDD/Photos
which creates a new folder in my HOME directory.
Reading your sentences I guess there is a train of thought, but as
written they are too concise to make sense of them.

unsatisfying about the default situation which supposedly would be fixed
