there was a slight typo: yes sir the windows fix (a reinstall) fixed it (I run linux). in reality gimp wasn't installed correctly. I had the flatpak version installed. I reinstalled the apt version and everything was good after. the flatpak version was installed from the ISO. as for when told that my hdr method with gimp didn't work this is how you do it: pull the three exposures into gimp open into layers (in this order) the dark exposure, medium, light create grayscale layer mask On the dark layer then increase both the brightness and contrast. Save as a tiff then open in darktable and play with whitebalance and play with brightness (you might have to decrease it). - On Tue, Jul 19, 2022 at 1:11 PM Michael wrote: > yes sir the windows fix fixed it. in reality gimp wasn't installed > correctly. Re: [darktable-user] start raw in gimp
Since Mike is trying to open a fuji ARW camera file I am not sure why GIMP is trying to use a Nikon plugin for the task. I am on windows and using the latest version of GIMP and DT 4.1 and I can open the ARW files fine via GIMP. Maybe a fresh install of GIMP may help. That might be a sledgehammer approach, but the program is so easy to download and install that it would not take much effort.
