Mmm, AIUI, at the point of configuring the keyboard, no additional
udebs have been extracted. Reading lowmem scripts tells me that it
saves memory by just dropping files, we could just do the same with the
translations. As for the size of boot floppies, the file can be in a
separated udeb that is not included in them.

Samuel Thibault wrote:

And that's an issue for the regular .debs. That means that the
console-setup deb would have to pre-depend on the deb containing the
translations. (No, we can not just use usual templates, as we want to
be able to shuffle keyboard proposals at will). Or we decide to not
care about having a 1MB console-setup.config (maybe we can manage to
ship it compressed and extract it on the fly)

The script that generates this mail tries to extract removal
reasons from comments in the britney hint files. Those comments
were not originally meant to be machine readable, so if the
reason for removing your package seems to be nonsense, it is
probably the reporting script that got confused. Please check the

So, uhm, things have been moving forward nicely since I submitted this,
and KDE4 is now ready to migrate to testing. Now, I think to have read
on -boot that installing squeeze is not supported at this stage, until
Beta1 appears, so I'd like to know whether I can go forward and push
KDE4 to testing already, or if we really need to wait for tasksel to be
adjusted.

A quick reply would be great, since I wouldn't want to lose this window

The corresponding option in xkeyboard-config is called "Key to choose
3rd level". Not terribly clearer, but at least using the same prompt
would make this consistent with the kde/gnome keyboard config tools.

It seems that mklibs is not working properly on mipsel. When I boot a
daily d-i image made with mklibs it stops after:
| Freeing unused kernel memory: 124k freed
When I re-build the image with mklibs-copy, it works. The only
difference is:

Binary files c/lib/libfribidi.so.0.0.0 and m/lib/libfribidi.so.0.0.0 differ

Aarrgh! Hate needing to correct myself.
Netboot images should be fine, because they will automatically take udebs
from Lenny [1]. So the only images that should be broken are the daily
built Squeeze CD images and the weekly built CD images. And as mentioned
before that is expected, not the result of a bug.

[1] Unless you'd boot with mirror/udeb/suite=testing, but that would be
user error.

s/Lenny/Squeeze/ rather.

Basically: you very simply cannot use images built for Lenny to install
Squeeze.

At least not netboot images. I guess that if you took a Lenny businesscard
CD and selected expert mode, it would happily install Squeeze if you
asked it to. Reason: it will take the libc6 udeb from the CD images and
that will of course match the version of libnss-files-udeb included in
the initrd.

This type pf problem is well known and will not get fixed until the first
Beta release of D-I. It is also virtually unavoidable.
At the moment Lenny images very simply should not be used. For exactly
that reason we do not link to them from the D-I page.

There may be a problem with weekly built CD images too. In this period
(after a Debian release and before the first Beta, when udeb migrations
are allowed without worrying about breaking D-I images in testing) they
really should be built using D-I images and udebs from unstable, instead
of using those from Lenny. Getting this right is the responsibility of
the D-I release manager or team or whatever.

Anyway, there is no bug.

Cheers,
FJP

OTOH, we currently don't link to the weekly built images either...

The problem appears if the d-i image is generated with one version of
the glibc, and a newer version is downloaded. d-i unpack packages one
by one, so at some point you get libc6-udeb from version 2.9, while
libnss-dns-udeb is still from version 2.7. If a DNS resolution is done
at this moment, you get a segmentation fault.

This is why it only appears with images generated with glibc 2.7 (ie
lenny images), and not with the daily ones which use glibc 2.9.

One easy solution would be to merge libnss-dns-udeb (and maybe
libnss-files-udeb?) into libc6-udeb. This would enlarge the initrd
size of the images currently only having libnss-files-udeb (non
netboot ones) by 36kB on amd64.

Yes, this is what I was suggesting, roughly. Making it easier to spot
out what has more probability to be spam.

I agree this makes reviewers depend on other reviewers, so that can be
seen as debatable..:)

Oh, that's perfect, in such case.

Although i don't understand fully your suggestion i fear that this
would lead to less quality in the review, because Reviewers would rely
on other Reviewers.

I chose 10 because i think thats a value that doesn't drive away
'part-time' reviewers. But I think about providing pages with more.

> - allow coming back on messages one once rated as "Unsure"

Once a week (Sunday 6:00 GMT) a job runs which picks up all ratings
and remove the articles and things. After that articles rated as
'Unsure' will be displayed again.
