Fixed in udev 153-2, and the resulting amd64 netboot gtk mini.iso
seems to have functional input again.

None of those should be translated.

There are no facilities for something like that. Sorry.

The best option is to refer to the original text when trying to decide if
something should be translated or not:
http://d-i.alioth.debian.org/manual/en.i386/apbs02.html#preseed-aliases

To translate or not to translate?

2010-05-04 Thread Tapio Lehtonen
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

The d-i manual in file preseed.po has several msgids like these:

msgid "debian-installer/framebuffer"
msgid "language"
msgid "debian-installer/language"
msgid "country"
msgid "debian-installer/country"

It seems to me debian-installer/framebuffer is a name of a variable in the
installer user interface, and should not be translated. More difficult to know
whether to translate or not are those plain language, country etc. msgids. Since
the appear in the middle of the debian-installer/* msgids, I guess they too are
names of something.

If indeed these should not be translated, is it possible to get them marked as
such in the original text to get them removed from the .po file? Or perhaps add
comment to explain what the translator should do with them?

Last time it stoped on libc but other times it stoped installing other
packages.

I'll try tomorrow.

I askked on powerpc IRC channel, they suggested to reset openfirmware
and to look at VT4, as you. They also suggested to try an older version
but old stable freezes at a different percentage of the base system
installation process. I'm starting thinking of a disk or ram problem. To
use less RAM I tried lowmem installation.
