RE: debian-installer: call to update translations - Tajik

2018-01-23 Thread victor.ibragimov
Dear Holger,

List of all terminology or glossary for debian-installer, for example:
* kernel
* removable media
* port
* user
* partition
Etc.

Kind regards,
Victor

Sorry, I'm unsure about what you mean with "list of all terminology" ?

Bug#888184: tasksel: freezes if there is a conffile prompt

2018-01-23 Thread Benjamin Moody
Package: tasksel
Version: 3.39
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

It seems that when installing packages using tasksel, if dpkg needs to
ask the user what to do about a configuration file, the tasksel
process freezes with no explanation.

Example:

  debootstrap stretch /var/chroot/stretch-test http://deb.debian.org/debian/
  chroot /var/chroot/stretch-test
touch /etc/magic
tasksel install standard

=> gets to the point of "Configuring libmagic1 (amd64)", and freezes.

Furthermore, tasksel can't be interrupted at that point by ^C, ^Z, or ^\.
It doesn't seem to respond to any terminal input at all.

Well, I was going to do so only as far as my involvement goes. Since I'm
only really involved in busybox, I was looking at bootstrapping the team
and putting busybox there.

I don't want to barge in and push anyone else into things they may not
yet be ready for, so I was planning on leaving the rest to other people.

I don't mind d-i-team or installer-team or even debian-installer-team,
but the self-service interface always adds "-team" to the end. Not
having -team on the end presumably means asking the admin folks to do it
manually for us, so it's probably best avoided unless we really want to.

Indeed, non-DD accounts need to register at
https://signup.salsa.debian.org/ and then a DD needs to add them to the
relevant team/project with appropriate permissions.

[snip comments about SVN migrations and using the Debian umbrella]

Re: [Pkg-dns-devel] What to do with isc-dhcp-client-udeb?

2018-01-23 Thread Ondřej Surý
Hi KiBi,

I would also love to get rid of the isc-dhcp-client-udeb, but so far the
message from the busybox team was that the dhcp client there doesn't compile
there and needs some upstream work to get it working.

(As a matter of fact, the busybox doesn't compile at all on kfreebsd-* and
hurd-i386 right now.)

As for the BIND libraries and libatomic.

There has been some effort to replace the custom atomic code with a C-provided
counterpart - it also fixes the mips deadlocks.

But generally, I would prefer to move all BIND libraries into "custom"
namespace, so the libraries are not used by anything else, and either:

a) use the custom copy of the libraries inside isc-dhcp
b) prepare separate package for the lib-udeb that would follow the
BIND 9.11 development (BIND 9.11 is to be supported for next 4 years) and then
remove those AND isc-dhcp from Debian.

The upcoming ISC-DHCP release 4.4.0 is ought to be the _last_ major upgrade,
see: https://www.isc.org/blogs/isc-dhcp-the-last-branch/

And if porting udhcpc to kFreeBSD proves to be much work, then perhaps porting
dhclient from OpenBSD might be an option?
