Bug#304296: Segfault in CppOwnedDeallocPkgSrcRecordsStruct

2005-04-23 Thread Christian Aichinger
On Tue, Apr 12, 2005 at 11:41:23PM +0200, Michael Vogt wrote:
I tried to reproduce the problem with the latest tla version of
python-apt and it seems to work with it (at least I didn't managed to
make it segfault). Could you verify this? The source is available via
 gnu arch (tla) at:
 http://people.debian.org/~mdz/arch/
 as
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]/python-apt--main--0

it also contains a implementation of many bits of the
depcache. Looking over your example code it looks like it contains
many bits that you may want (what version is the candidate, is it
upgradable etc). See the doc/examples/depcache.py code for example
usage. There is some work going on to improve python-apt, if you are
interessted in helping/testing, please let me know :)

I haven't tried it, but looking at the source the problem is still
there. You allocate the object with CppPyObject_NEW, and deallocate
it with CppOwnedDealloc. Below is the code.

= START =
template class T struct CppPyObject : public PyObject
{
   T Object;
};
template class T struct CppOwnedPyObject : public CppPyObjectT
{
   PyObject *Owner;
};

template class T
inline CppPyObjectT *CppPyObject_NEW(PyTypeObject *Type)
{
   CppPyObjectT *New = PyObject_NEW(CppPyObjectT,Type);
   new (New-Object) T;
   return New;
}

template class T
void CppOwnedDealloc(PyObject *iObj)
{
   CppOwnedPyObjectT *Obj = (CppOwnedPyObjectT *)iObj;
   Obj-Object.~T();
   if (Obj-Owner != 0)
  Py_DECREF(Obj-Owner);
   PyMem_DEL(Obj);
}
= END =

As you can see you're accessing Obj-Owner in CppOwnedDealloc, which was
never initialized. Since malloc (used somewhere in PyObject_NEW,
depending on some preprocessor defines) doesn't guarantee initialized
memory, you are accessing a random pointer, and then you Py_DECREF()
it. This may or may not segfault, depending on your luck.

So please apply my patch, or some variation thereof.

Cheers,
Greek0

rsnapshot make no use of scp, we are not sure why it is used in your
setup. Do you have a special environment (special ssh version, some
restrictions with ssh), a forced command in your authorized_keys file
on the remote host or something like that?

Please also try to run the rsync command manually, cause maybe this
error is not caused by rsnapshot.

I don't know where the attachment went, here's a different one. For this

BTW, I also see the same effect, though with a lesser hang, on smaller

This is a bug I also noticed, I've submitted a bug report upstream,
sorry for not filing it here. The problem is in the html indentation
plugin. It has BS in its indentkeys, which causes the indentation
of the current line to be recalculated every time BS is pressed.

Unfortunately the algorithm walks previous lines searching for tags,
which takes ages.

My fix was to remove BS from indentkeys, I'm not having problems
with it since then.

I've got a page about that bug, which goes into pretty much detail
(again, sorry for all the duplicated work caused by me not reporting
the bug here) at:

it seems that bastille-linux released a new majow version (3.0.4) which
looks interesting. I wish there was an up-to-date debian package :-)

Thank you for your hard work - we appreciate it very much.

Bug#305971: f2c: segfaults on m68k

2005-04-23 Thread Christian T. Steigies
Package: f2c
Version: 20020621-3.2
Severity: serious
Justification: segfaults on m68k which causes r-base build to fail (and
probably others as well)

On m68k, r-base and a few other packages need f2c to build. The latest
release of R fails to build on m68k with f2c segfaulting:

http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.php?pkg=r-basever=2.1.0-1arch=m68kstamp=1114147840file=logas=raw

The previous test release of R, however, built just fine:

http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.php?pkg=r-basever=2.0.1.beta.20050410-1arch=m68kstamp=1113451773file=logas=raw

I assume this is dues to a bug in f2c, since with the f2c that was installed
in the successful built, ch2inv.f can be compiled, whereas with the f2c that
is currently in incoming, it can not.

Bug#305972: @monthly executes every day

2005-04-23 Thread Rene Konasz
Package: anacron
Version: 2.3-11
Severity: important
Hello,
I've found a problem that /etc/cron.monthly is executed every day by anacron
when the machine boots up 10 minutes after cron.daily ran by anacron at
about 10:00 AM. /var/spool/anacron/cron.monthly is updated daily to the same
actual date as /var/spool/anacron/cron.daily. cron.weekly seems to work
correctly, cron and anacron both have their default configs
/etc/(ana)?crontab, also anacron -T exits cleanly.

# /etc/anacrontab: configuration file for anacron

SHELL=/bin/sh
PATH=/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin

Bug#297753: broken glib modules la files

2005-04-23 Thread browaeys . alban
package libglib2.0-dev
merge 297741 297753
quit

please also fix gmodule, glib and gobject (and the already
reported gthread).

I really do not understand why the static name is missing from
those files the source packages ship with them defined
properly. I don't care about the modules, i only need glib though
the problem must be related :)

The only workaround is to disable libtool in my project (which is
a /sbin binary called before /usr is available) and ship with a
hardcoded link string of 10 lines. I expect it to break quite
often and on most archs .

The other way is to recode part of the glib datatypes ... that
looks like reinventing the wheel with more holes and security
issues !

Well regarding the comment in the debian readme maybe reenabling
static for gmodule is a bad idea. Is this the rationale behind the
current breakage ?

I really need to know if this will be fixed in sarge. If this is
not planned please don't pay attention to my request. the project
is for ubuntu and debian system.

Regards
Alban

2005-04-23 Thread A Mennucc
hi

Situation:
 zope2.7 is compiled with prefix=/usr/lib/zope2.7,
but then all .py are installed in /usr/share/zope2.7
and symlinks are created in /usr/lib/zope2.7

Some people do not like this, and I read emails
asking why this (expletive deleted) symlinking mess???

The latest such complaint is in bug 305854.

Simple: because the policy dictates so, in section 9.1.1 :
The location of all installed files and directories must comply with the
Filesystem Hierarchy Standard (FHS), version 2.1, except where doing so would
violate other terms of Debian Policy.
file:///usr/share/doc/debian-policy/policy.html/ch-opersys.html#s9.1

The FHS, in turn, says :
Miscellaneous architecture-independent application-specific static files and
subdirectories should be placed in /usr/share.
/usr/share/doc/debian-policy/fhs/fhs.html/fhs-4.4.html

Originally , zope2.7 did install all its .py code
in /usr/lib : that is ~10Mb of code, and it is too much,
and some people complained, so I created the symlinking mess.

Please, Martin, do not change zope2.7 installation system.
Note that the policy is not saying should. It is saying must.
Violating the policy is a seriuos bug:
is a severe violation of Debian policy (that is,
the problem is a violation of a 'must' or 'required' directive);
may or may not affect the usability of the package.
Such bug may be tagged release-critical, and would kick zope2.7
out of Debian/sarge.

I understand that you were frustrated in losing some hours
in fixing bug 305854 (and I thank you for the patch).
At the same time, I see that the bug was due to a careless
using of a realpath directive in the code.

The /usr/lib/zope2.7 is filled with symlinks. These are
undistinguishable from real files, unless a call to realpath
is used.
grep -ri realpath zope2.7 | wc
shows that there are 18 calls to realpath around. I will
check them all.

As the saying goes, shit happens, bugs happen, shitty bugs
happen more often than ever.

Martin,

Thanks for making your patch public... it's really useful!

I've tried it with MP3's and got the following error message. I looked

Otherwise I'll take a look at next week (but that will require some time
as I know neither the jack code nor python).

Bug#305977: debian-installer-manual support for amd64.

2005-04-23 Thread Kurt Roeckx
Package: debian-installer-manual

Hi,

The amd64 port currently doesn't have a manual for d-i. The
manual should be mostly the same as for i386. Their are a few
differences that I know about:
- We only have a 2.6 kernel. linux boots a 2.6 kernel, and
  linux26 doesn't exists.
- We also do not have floppies and speakup.
- Afaik, we're the only one who have monolithic images.

hallo,
using

it like the meaning of --ipv6_binds_v4 is reversed, as the listening ipv6
socket listens for ipv4 here - kernel 2.6.11ac4

I could not test real ipv6 connections, as I did not find othere people
support ipv6 torrent downloads, but at least bt is listening for ipv6

Package: coreutils
Version: 5.2.1-2
Severity: normal

Beeing in /etc I type ls foo*.
I am expecting too get all files/directories whose name begins with foo.
What I get is this:

None of this three files/directories begins with foo.

The program ls actually lists all files/directories, being in the directory
foomatic.

Suggested solution:

When ls finds more then one matching file/directory it lists the name of the
found
directory too.
ls should do this also when it finds only one matching directory.
The output should look like this:

Bug#305869: pdns: French debconf templates translation update

Hello,

Sorry for nitpicking, but I think there is an inaccuracy in the last two
strings. Each DNS query has a recursion desired flag, which requests
that the DNS server completes the whole query on the behalf of the

The question in question is about choosing for what networks the flag

My suggestions:

Bug#305980: keduca: include keduca-shrinker

2005-04-23 Thread Mathieu Roy
Package: keduca
Version: 4:3.3.2-3
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

I wrote a small program that take a kdeduca test file (.edu) as input
with say 100 question and output a kdeduca test file with 20 questions
selected randomly.

The project should be short-lived as we can strongly hope that at some
point such feature will be directly implemented in keduca.

Why not directly contributing to keduca? Because it's beyond my
abilities (no c++ and qt knowledge) and we cannot wait until it's
done.

Why sharing such a trivial program? Because it cost us nothing while,
who knows, it may help someone.

Until this feature is implemented upstream (I'm about to suggest it),
it may be useful to debian users to include this script with keduca.

The script can be obtained in the
https://gna.org/projects/keduca-shrinker/ CVS, more precisely at
http://cvs.gna.org/viewcvs/keduca-shrinker/keduca-shrinker/

It makes things a lot easier if you file bugs on packages needing

Does the removal from unstable even have an effect on the release? If I

since there are still packages depending on it in testing. I have no
problems postponing this request to after the release, though.

No, but removing from unstable make it harder for an (unlikely)
last-minute bugfix in linc, but most importantly, since linc is indeed
quite outdated, it'd be *good* to have it removed from testing. I think
it'd be best to file important bugs on all depending packages, asking
them to rebuild to drop the linc dependency, and NMU those packages
shortly after so that linc can get dropped. Whether those please
rebuild bugs would be release-critical is an RM decision to make, I'd

closer...

close(5)= 0
close(5)= -1 EBADF (Bad file descriptor)
ioctl(5, TIOCGPGRP, [1])= -1 EBADF (Bad file descriptor)
kill(-1, SIGINT)= 0

Closing it twice isn't problematic, but ioctl()ing on the FD _after_
closing it, and using the return value unchecked as argument for
kill() is, well, suicidal. :-) And in the case of -1 fatal, as
that sends SIGINT to all processes that gnat-gps is capable to
signals to... and that includes either the Xserver itself (if you've
started it via startx et.al.) or your favourite window manager / login
terminal / whatever keeps your session running.

I've not looked into the gnat-gps source code until now, but if
you want, I could lend a hand there, too.

Best regards,

Jan

Bug#305874: smurf needs upgrade path, oops

Oops. You're right, making swami conflict with smurf breaks the
upgrade path. My bad, I had recalled reading something about using
conflicts to force an upgrade, but I guess I didn't remember the
context and thought it was the general procedure to provide an upgrade
path to another package. I was the one who told swami's maintainer to
 add the Conflicts line. Oops.

What's the correct way to handle the upgrade? Make a dummy smurf
 package that depends on swami?

Hm, quoting developers reference:

| 5.9.3 Replacing or renaming packages
|
| When you make a mistake naming your package, you should follow a
| two-step process to rename it. First, set your debian/control file to
| replace and conflict with the obsolete name of the package (see the
| Debian Policy Manual for details). Once you've uploaded the package and
| the package has moved into the archive, file a bug against
| ftp.debian.org asking to remove the package with the obsolete name. Do
| not forget to properly reassign the package's bugs at the same time.

That's exactly what you did. I admit I'm not sure how apt, aptitude, etc
etc are going to handle this, the only time I did a package rename, was
via a dummy package, with Replaces:, and certainly not Conflicts:. This
isn't discussed at all in the developers reference, and atm I don't
intend to dive into how to do this properly. It's even not impossible I
was wrong and this way will have the intended effect, but I'm not at all
convinced that this way will indeed provide a proper upgrade path.

I think you'd best search the archives, and if that fails, ask
debian-devel@lists.debian.org, so that more eyes than just my own can
look into it. I can be wrong too, it'd be silly to solely rely on my
advice, when you can ask the advice of dozens of extra people :).

Bug#305984: minicom looks in wrong place for configuration file

2005-04-23 Thread tow21
Package: minicom
Version: 2.1-9
Severity: normal

minicom always starts by giving the message
minicom: WARNING: configuration file not found, using defaults

According to README.Debian, this is to be expected the first time,
but thereafter one should save the configuration (which I have
done) and it will be written to /etc/minicom/minirc.dfl (which
it is)

Nevertheless, minicom fails to notice this.

straceing it shows that it's actually looking for the file
/etc/minicom/minirc._etc_minicom_minirc.dfl
instead of
/etc/minicom/minirc.dfl

Linking the configuration file to this location has the desired
effect.

Bug#305987: libxklavier10: installing does brake german keyboard layout

2005-04-23 Thread aip . schaefer
Package: libxklavier10
Version: 1.14-0.2
Severity: grave
Tags: experimental
Justification: renders package unusable

 dear maintainer,

I installed this version of libxklavier10 as dependency from gnome 2.10 in
experimental, but having it installed breaks my keyboard behaviour in
xserver-xfree86.
 Symptoms are:
 * AltGr doesn't work as supposed, which means, no pipe, no tilde, no
 no backslash, no at symbols.
 * changing layout in the keyboard capplet seems to crash the
 gnome-settings-daemon, wich is auto-restarted then.
 * selecting a new layout there pops up a error dialogue with
 Fehler
  beim Aktivieren der XKB-Konfiguration.
 Dies kann verschiedene Gründe haben:
 - ein Fehler in der libxklavier-Bibliothek
 - ein Fehler im X-Server (xkbcomp, xmodmap utilities)
 - ein X-Server mit nicht kompatibler libxkbfile-Implementation

 Versionsdaten des X-Servers:
 The XFree86 Project, Inc

 the required output is:

Bug#305853: Debian Bug#305853: openmsx: IPS patch support is incomplete

Yeah, I noticed. I was about to send more email to the bug report,
apparently the IPS file is bad.

So maybe my original rom and/or patch is corrupt or maybe the patched
game only works in certain MSX models? These are the SHA1SUMS of my
files, can you verify these against your files?

If they are different, can you send me your files? Thanks.

I have a working (mostly) ROM, produced by the IPS patch author. but that
breaks the SHALOM disk support (which works well in the original ROM).

The SHA1 sums match yours, including the (damaged) ROM I get when I use the
IPS patch.

Apparently, I will have to track down the IPS patch author and get a good
one (or at least an explanation wether the shalom disk support is broken on
purpose. If so, we could produce a new IPS patch from the already-patched
ROM he provides).

If you are interested in the already-patched ROM, I can send that to you.

Since you have added full IPS support to openMSX, this bug report can be
closed when the new openMSX package with full IPS support is uploaded.
Thanks!

Bug#305991: openmsx: please write SRAM files in synchronous mode (no buffering)

2005-04-23 Thread Henrique de Moraes Holschuh
Package: openmsx
Version: 0.5.1-2
Severity: wishlist
Tags: upstream

It would be nice if the SRAM files (especially stuff like the Konami
Gamemaster-II SRAM files) were always kept current on disk. As it is, the
files do not always reflect the contents of the SRAM while openMSX is
running (and I just lost a few hours worth of KnightMare III progress
because of it :-P ).

If writing to the SRAM on-disk backup in syncronous mode is not feasible,
flushing it out every second (only when the contents were modified) would do
just fine.

Bug#305989: kpresenter: crashes when creating new screen presentation

2005-04-23 Thread Roland Gruber
Package: kpresenter
Version: 1:1.3.5-3
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

KPresenter crashes when I want to create a new presentation with format
Screen.
There is no difference between choosing the templates (Empty, Title, ...). The
application
exits without a message (also no messages on command line).
I already tried starting kpresenter with a new user account with the same
result.

If I create an A4 or letter presentation there seems to be no problems.

According to strace the last thing which kpresenter does is reading the
kdeglobals file.
I can send you a complete trace if needed.

/usr/share/horde2/test.php is word readable, and since it includes a
phpinfo() function can expose php and apache settings.
I suggest to make it 600 and add a note in README.Debian explaining
the question and how to enable it to debug installation.
Also please note php 4.3.11 has remove Net_Socket, MAIL and DB pear
modules so when it will be released php4-pear will not have these needed
pear modules, so seperate packages will be needed like php4-pear-log.

Bug#304748: aptitude: this bug is worse than it sounds

2005-04-23 Thread Daniel Burrows
On Saturday 23 April 2005 12:41 am, Ivan Nestlerode wrote:
 Package: aptitude
 Version: 0.2.15.9-2
 Followup-For: Bug #304748

This bug is worse than it sounds.

I've used aptitude for over a year with no major problems to speak of,
but in the past couple of hours I've wasted a decent chunk of it due to
this bug and a key-binding related to it.

For whatever reason, shift-downArrow seems to have recently been mapped
to bring up reportbug (which as mentioned here causes all of your pending
 work to be forgotten).

Shift-downarrow isn't mapped to anything; xterm appears to hand the sequence
ESC];2B to the client program, and it seems like ncurses just passes the
raw key sequence along. This is a hazard of being a terminal-based
program...

 1. setting lots of stuff to autoinstalled

On a machine that hasn't had aptitude run on it before, I'll often go
into libs and mark all of the libraries as auto-installed. The
keystroke sequence is downArrow, shift-M, downArrow, shift-M, etc.

If I accidentally keep shift held down while hitting downArrow, I suddenly
lose all of my work by getting thrown into reportbug.

 2. purging lots of stuff

When I go to purge a package that autoinstalled a lot of stuff, I then
go to mark all of the autoinstalled stuff as purge (instead of just
delete). Again the sequence looks like down, shift-dash, down,
shift-dash. Again, holding down shift too long results in lost work.

You could make this easier by temporary turning on the advance to the next
item option. Unfortunately, aptitude is frozen in sarge, so I can't make
many changes to it right now.

  Daniel

Bug#305992: libsdl1.2debian: Mouse jumps to side of screen with xinerama

2005-04-23 Thread GeniusDex
Package: libsdl1.2debian
Version: 1.2.7+1.2.8cvs20041007-4.1
Severity: important

If using SDL, and going into fullscreen mode, the mouse is rendered unusable
with my setup. The mouse will move to the right side of the screen when you try
to move it (not before), and will stay there no matter what.

The problem causing this is my xinerama setup: my right monitor is the one i
mostly use, and also for most of the fullscreen applications. On my left screen
it was working alright last time i checked (a few weeks ago).

Due to a debugging session when doing beta testing for Darwinia i discovered
that the problem is related to some xrel value (not sure if that's of SDL or
of Darwinia) being 1280 too large (my right screen starts at 1280x0, since my
left screen is 1280x960, like my right one).

It has been fixed in Darwinia by making a guess on the xinerama resolution and
substracting that from the xrel/yrel values already found. Most, if not all,
other programs i tried still suffer from this bug thought. I've found it to
only happen in programs using SDL, so i'm quite sure it's a bug in SDL.

Bug#304855: termios

   Hi!

AFAIK, the modern, portable interface for doing this is termios, which we
   do
provide in Glibc. Including asm/termios.h is Linux-specific because
   its
   using the wrong path.

   Would a #include termios.h do the job?
This file is already included, but gtkterm also need asm/termios.h or
sys/ttycom.h for TIOCM_* defines, as it gives the possibility to get or
set control lines (ie CTS, RTS, DTR, etc.).

Oh, I didn't know about these. I assume there aren't any libc to calls to
 wrap them around?
Actually this asm/termios.h doesn't contain any functions, they are in the
portable part of termios, ie in termios.h.

asm/termios.h or sys/ttycom.h almost contains bit masks that are
kernel dependent, and maybe (not sure) arch dependent.

Bug#305981: Theme problem?

2005-04-23 Thread Gustavo Noronha Silva
Hey,

I am also not able to reproduce the problem. Would you mind trying to
reproduce it with a different theme? My theory is your theme engine
could be the problem or at least trigger it.

Thanks!

Do you specified samples as 0?
Because then yacpi does a division with 0 and thats wrong.

Bug#294908: shared-mime-info breaks xsl transformation for browsers

2005-04-23 Thread Stewart Jeacocke
I'm included Roland's complete reply so that it is recorded int the bts.
I've also attached his example files to this mail.

On Sat, 2005-04-23 at 14:02 +0200, Roland Schuble wrote:
 Hi,

Thank you for the quick response.
After applying th patch, I got the same error in my browser I had
 before:

 Error loading stylesheet: (null)

 file:///home/sro/rankinglist.xsl
 -

I'm using Mozilla Firefox 1.0.2 but the error is the same on all
mozilla based browsers. I'm working on a gentoo linux system but
also experienced the problem on debian.

As soon, as I replace the line

  mime-type type=application/xslt+xml

 with

   mime-type type=text/xml

 or even

   mime-type type=application/xml

 everything works fine.

I think Mathias has not checked with local xml/xsl files so
 this could be the difference.

I attached the two files (xml and xsl) I used for my test so
you can check the behavior in your own environment.
Copy them in the same directory and open the xml file with
the browser. A Ranking list should appear, if everything is ok.

Ok. I've just used your files on my machine and agree that the current
upstream fix does not work with firefox 1.0.2. I also agree that
changing the mime type to application/xml makes the xsl file work in
firefox.

As a side note in my user account firefox will quite happily process the
xsl file EVEN with the original debian supplied mime type of
text/x-xslt. I've tried creating a new user profile for firefox in my
home directory but it still insists on processing the file. It is only
when I create a completely new linux user account that I see this bug at
all.

Bug#305997: Please upgrade to using gtkhtml3.2

2005-04-23 Thread Jeroen van Wolffelaar
Package: gnomesword
Severity: important

It'd really be nice if it was possible to drop gtkhtml3.0 from sarge,
only three packages depend on it. gktkhtml3.2 is the version to upgrade
to, as that version will be shipped in sarge for certain.

Maintaining four different versions of gtkhtml in sarge is a nightmare
for the security team, hence severity important.

only three packages depend on it. gktkhtml3.2 is the version to upgrade
to, as that version will be shipped in sarge for certain.

Maintaining four different versions of gtkhtml in sarge is a nightmare
for the security team, hence severity important.

Thanks for considering!

Bug#304679: i386 port should not compile code for i686

2005-04-23 Thread Christopher Martin
On April 14, 2005 12:51, Alberto wrote:
 Package: kdelibs
 Version: 3.3.2-4.0.2

Tracing why kdebase does not compile for me on a k6-2:

 /usr/lib/kde3/plugins/designer -nounload -impl actest.h actest.ui
   ] actest.cpp
   ] configure:28299: $? = 0
   ] configure:28313: result: no
] configure:28316: error: you need to install kdelibs first.

I got out this subtle error:

 Conflict in /usr/lib/kde3/plugins/designer/kdewidgets.so:
 Plugin uses incompatible Qt library!
expected build key i586 Linux g++-3.* full-config, got i686 Linux
 g++-3.* full-config

I inspected kdelibs source, found many i686 references. I changed them
to i586, recompiled kdelibs and all errors dissapeared now.

What are you referring to here? I see no references to i686 in the kdelibs
source that could cause what you're referring to. When KDE is built, it is
built as if the system were a 386. config.guess and config.sub are standard
files that help the build system determine what your system is, and they
shouldn't be tampered with.

I have a suspicion about what's happening, though. Did you rebuild Qt on
your own machine prior to rebuilding kdebase? Did you make any changes to
Qt, or was it a simple download-and-build? Also, did you rebuild kdelibs
_before_ this error popped up?

If you did rebuild Qt, then it might have become i586 Linux g++-3.*
full-config, whereas the stock kdelibs package was built against a Qt that
had i686 Linux g++-3.* full-config. The mismatch was exposed when you
tried to build kdebase (against the stock kdelibs and your own Qt). At that
point, rebuilding kdelibs would of course solve the problem, since it would
then have been rebuilt against the i586 Qt - no more mismatch. Changing
kdelibs' 686 references would not have made a difference.

Bug #253975 gives some idea of what the string in question is - it seems to
represent the Qt ABI. In kdewidgets, therefore, seems to be recorded the Qt
ABI against which kdelibs was built.

Anyway, please let us know what happened. I don't think this is a bug in a
KDE package, but this issue is probably worth following up nevertheless (it
might reflect an issue with how Qt is built).

Thanks,
Christopher Martin

Bug#306007: Wishlist: please add package 'libdate-manip-perl' to freeradius-dialupadmin's 'Suggests' packages

2005-04-23 Thread Feng Sian
Package: freeradius-dialupadmin
Version: 1.0.2-3

Please add package libdate-manip-perl to the Suggests list because the
HOWTO.gz doc tells that 'in order to have full functionality' it
requires the PHP and the 'Date::Manip Perl Module', which is not listed
in the package's 'Suggests' list.

Fortunately, Debian's repository has the 'Date::Manip Perl Module',
named as 'libdate-manip-perl'.

I suggest to add the 'libdate-manip-perl' in the suggests list, because
I was able to install and run (test) the dialupadmin without it. I don't
know if the package is essential for dialupadmin to functino properly.

Bug#306006: Package useless without mldonkey-server

2005-04-23 Thread Jeroen van Wolffelaar
Package: kmldonkey
Severity: serious

This package is of no use without mldonkey-server, either on the
localhost, or on some other nearby machine. As mldonkey-server is not in
testing at the moment, I think kmldonkey shouldn't either. kmldonkey
merely recommends mldonkey-server to allow it being on another host; but
you'd need another Debian release or a non-Debian machine to actually
use this package.

2005-04-23 Thread Helge Kreutzmann
Package: cron
Version: 3.0pl1-72

Justification: user security hole

The report on http://lwn.net/Articles/132380/ (and in the CVE) states,
that this problem only relates to version 4.1. If this is the case,
then plase add CAN-2005-1038 to

http://www.debian.org/security/nonvulns-woody

and

http://www.debian.org/security/nonvulns-sarge

On the other hand, the reporter (as cited in the CVE report) states in
http://www.securityfocus.com/archive/1/395093
that he *used* this version for the exploit, not that it is possible
only there.

As the CVE-report also states, this might be a duplicate
CVE-2001-0235. If this is indeed the case, please update the above
nonvulns pages as well to avoid future confusion.

Bug#306005: sox: resampling sometimes changes playback length

2005-04-23 Thread Michael Deegan
Package: sox
Version: 12.17.7-2
Severity: normal

I pipe all my system beeps through sox as a workaround for ALSA getting it
wrong on 8-bit sounds. However recently I noticed (on a machine I don't use
much) that sox seems to get mono-to-multichannel conversions wrong.

Consider the following shell script (assuming you have kcontrol and
vorbis-tools also installed):

   #!/bin/sh
   for c in 1 2 4; do
   for r in 11025 22049 22051 33075 44100 48000; do
  sox /usr/share/sounds/KDE_Startup.wav -r$r -c$c
kdestartup-r$r-c$c.ogg resample
  ogginfo kdestartup-r$r-c$c.ogg|grep 'file\|Playback'|awk
'{print $3}'
   done
   echo
   done

(sox cowardly refuses to resample when input and output sample rates are the
same so I used 1Hz either side instead.)

Consider its output:

   kdestartup-r11025-c1.ogg...
   0m:08.280s
   kdestartup-r22049-c1.ogg...
   0m:08.280s

   0m:03.447s
   kdestartup-r48000-c4.ogg...
   0m:03.658s

Now, I would have expected that the resulting files would be the same length
(ie. about 8.3 seconds) in every case. The ones that aren't also sound
broken (skips).

The same behaviour occurs when outputting to WAV and raw formats.

Actually, I would really like to sponsor this package. However, on a
first review, I'm a bit uncertain about the following bits:

 * Many lintian errors (please run lintian by yourself to see them :)
 * apache doesn't need to be restarted, reloading is enough
 * I'm not sure why you need to ask so many questions - isn't it enough

Thanks so much for your interest your feedback!

Lucas Wall also expressed interest in sponsoring this package - I made
all the helpful corrections I received built a new package -

 What do you think?

Quite better. Some (fewer) comments:

- prerm removes the apache-config-file even on upgrade - this leads to
loosing configuraion on each upgrade. Please consider to just kill the
  configuration on purge
- similarly, postinst installs he configuration even if the
administrator has previously killed it by hand.
- the construct
  [ -d /etc/$server/conf.d/ -a ! -e /etc/$server/conf.d/phpicalendar ]
  in postinst is not posix - please use [ -d ...] [ ...]
- Perhaps add an hint about the posibility to publish via the
php-scripts - and that this is disabled by default
- I'm not sure if the default should not rather be to anonymously read
icalendar files instead of requiring ftp-authentication - but that is
your call as maintainer. However, adding some information about the
different authentication possibilities to README.Debian might be a
  good idea.

Thanks for your work.

Having tried plls and realizing the importance of sustaining regular
blood levels of the formula through consistent regular dosing, I realized
my life was far too busy to keep track. With this product I simply
slap it on and let it do it.s thing, no muss or fuss.
This patch truly rocks as without having to stress about how often of how many
pills to take, I.ve acquired a size which makes me feel confident.

Bug#306009: Way to auto-stop torrent when upload:download ratio exceeds a given constant

2005-04-23 Thread Anthony DeRobertis
Package: bittornado
Version: 0.3.11-4
Severity: wishlist

When using btlaunchmanycurses, I often give it a bunch of things to
download (12 at the moment). It'd be nice if once a download is
completed, and once I've uploaded, say, five times what I downloaded,
btlaunchmanycurses would stop that torrent (leaving bandwidth free for
the others).
